  • Hey guys!
In this video I create a barn owl out of a crazy mottled background. This is the first piece of a series I'm starting titled "Calm Within Chaos".
I created the background with acrylic paint, and then painted the owl with oils.
Thanks for watching! Feel free to ask questions!

You have a really lovely style. I love the contrast between details and "fading into the background". Very nice work!

+Puzzle Pieces in Motion Thank you! It can be tricky to balance the details with the background, but it makes for a great challenge

Beautiful creatures but they still look like an apple cut in half and left out a while to get brown around the edges! Such cute birds, And fun they way they move their heads upside down!

You should do a video on how you painted your background

Its on the list of things to do :)
Though there will likely be some sneak peeks in the next few videos that I upload.

Isn’t it the boys that are more ‘Apple’ faced and the girls gave a more tapered face that forms a heart shape? It only been recently that I fell in love with them. Before I was like - what is it exactly people find majestic about an apple cut in half? ( I’m a stand up comedian) I just write a joke about the Barred owl based in his name and the noise he makes.

No use unless you show how you painted the background. Great painting though

Thanks. It's not intended to be a tutorial, but I may be creating a video in the near future that gives an insight to my process for the backgrounds.
