- The film deals with a largely unknown tribe, the Idu Mishmis, who live in Arunachal Pradesh touching the borders of Bhutan, Tibet and Myannamar. The tribe has mythological connections dating back to the second-third century B.C. But there is no documented historical evidence about them till the 16th century. Hair cut in a straight line across the crown is the identity of this tribe, which they link to an ancient Indian myth as well
Salute to all the researchers who came to our place. It was very tough few years ago to travel to such places, still you all managed to come and stayed with our people. Thank you all for selecting a topic on us and uploading your work on utube.
We welcome all the future researchers who would come to our place for any research purposes.
Dear Natho Linggi, Pramod Mathur, the director passed away in June 2020. This is Neelima Mathur, his wife, trying to maintain his CZcams protocol of response. The film was made in 2002, 18 years ago. Yes, it was very tough for him and his team to accomplish this task. He always carried very fond memories of all the people he met and told me many little stories that are not included in the film. So, I too cherish this film.

My husband was also a very humble man (unlike many film-makers!) and could so easily connect with people at the ground level - even without knowing their language. See the film "Jungle Dreams'...I think you will appreciate it. It is based in Bastar area. Also "Little Tales from India".
i am idu mishmi ...n i was so surprise to see the documentary on my tribe ....actually one of my friend insisted me to show something about my tribe in youtube. i was hesitant in the beginning as i was doubtful so as to find something but eventually i found this and it was so helpful. Thank you Mr. Pramod Mathur for the great initiative you have taken.

The film is just an overview introduction of the community and does not claim to be an anthropological study. I would love to go back to them if I can get hold of a doctoral thesis so that and anthropological film can be produced for posterity.

Thank you for your commenon our film.I am sorry, I won't be able to tell you the name of the song. It was recorded without picture on location while a local person sang for us. You could ask some Idu Mishmi person who comes from the region of Anini village. I am not sure if there is a version you could download.

Actually it not a song, but to be specific it is hymn chanting by "igu" (priest/shaman)
And I don't think that you will be able download it.
actually this is not song it is shamanic chant (igu) of our idu mishmi. If u really want it ,you can ask from any idu mishmi people.

There you will find more good knowledge of idu ethnicity. It has been hidden from the outside world since ages.

Pramod Mathur acha, well to tell you, I am not an idu person. I belong to galo tribe of west siang. But I stayed my most of school life in dibang valley . So I thought of telling those places. Anyways it's good to know that you visited anini and made this fantastic documentary. Hats off to you.
