Nah! Maybe 50-55 mph.
That doesnt even look close to 100mph , more like 45 to 50 .
That looks like 100 to me, i work on railway & these pass me most days
It's the trains size that makes it looks like it's going slower it's not a car
I'm with you Tom. I'd say 50 to 60 mph tops!
No way that was close to 100.
Looks about 100.
I believe it is moving that fast. Though I cant gauge the actual speed by listening, but after watching another excellent train doc just yesterday, the modern rail system is phenomenally efficient and very likely get up high speeds on straight stretches where and when they could. Even their fuel usage is tremendous in a good way.
More like 69-70….
71.36943 mph
no way that train was doing 100mph; get a life!
Im surprised to see an American train going so fast!
I also thought it looked slower than 100 mph. But per Google Maps, from Webster Street to the edge of the Main Street Bridge is around 750 feet. The front of the engine covers that distance in about 4.5 seconds. That’s roughly 167 feet per second, or almost 114 mph. (Unless I’m mistaken on any of these measurements or calculations.)
I checked math and agree with conclusion
Man that ain't no 100mph I knows.
One car length/second = ~60 mph (88 ft/sec). How long does it take for one car length to pass in this video? Then do the math.
72 mph
Is the rear Charger under power or is it shut down? If the latter, why is it in the consist at all? I hardly think a short train like that needs both locos to power it over fairly level track.
Did those signals ring?
The over speed trip on Amtrak locomotives is 79 mph
not true
What do you think it is?
@@Bickhawk there's a lot of train speed limits posted on Wiki, all the way up tp 220 mph in California, the eastern Corridor is 125 mph
Lubalin Graph...bold choice.
Why have 30 seconds of nothing for 20 seconds of train?
because the train was going 100 mph and he wanted to catch it on film and no reason to edit out 20 seconds and you're fckn stupid
🎉🎉🎉💪💪👍👍🤝🤝
80mph
Another fact is the regulation on speed limits is 50mph max for freight rail and more for passenger rail, it is 70mph.
also not true, where tf ppl getting their info at? Maybe your in mexico or something but American railways can go 150 mph look it up on Wiki
@@richardbaumgart2454 I learned the max speeds allowed for both, based on a very credible video put out by a career man of the American Rail System. Passenger Rail is either 70 or 80 max where practical. When I find the actual video I'll mention it here by name.
@@richardbaumgart2454 I also said whst they can do L E G A LL Y not maximum capable speed.
150 miles per hr is insanely fast and not even logistically possible in most grades, turns, and conditions of population density !! 🙄
@@snugbug5067 yeah there are lower speed limits in highly populated areas....make sure you know your facts before commenting tho
@@snugbug5067 some places in the US a train can do 225 legally, most of the eastern corridor is legally limited to 125 mph
Looked like about 50mph at most
Ok radar
Amtrak trains can’t do 100 MPH, going downhill with a 50 MPH trailing wind !!!
145 mph top speed
100+mph? Don’t think so. Not even 100kph
Just calculated it. Apparently each amtrack car is 85 feet so I looked at the amount of passenger cars in the vid and that was about 5 which brought the length to about 425 feet. Then I looked at the time stamp on the video for those 5 cars to pass and it was almost perfectly 3 seconds from 0:45 to 0:48. 425 feet divided by 3 seconds means 142 feet per second and that equates to 96 mph. So it’s pretty much going 100 mph. The size of the train makes it look slower
@@A_youtube_channel_ nice math work! 👍
check out the videos on 300 mph trains,...100 mph looks turtle slow. I'm not saying this is going 100 tho.
I run this exact train through here 6 days a week. Track speed through Mattawan is 110 mph.
@@c58rytcx hey fellow Michigander ppl here are trying to say 70 mph is the nation wide speed limit for trains which goes to show you how ppl don't know sh*t on the internet and will argue about it 😂 😂
Not even close to 100 m.p.h. maybe km/h or 62 m.p.h.
All these folks who think they know the actual speed of the train when I have perfect pitch and can tell what the speed is based on the trains passing.... easily 110
More like 35 mph
Faster than that...probably not 100+ though.
Showing the speed from Amtrak website track-your-train will add accuracy to the next video.

OMG sooo sloooow. Check out a real high speed train and see the difference, twice as fast.
Ha,ha,ha, comunist China Has 30 OOO km , high speed railways!
Yes, and a dictator for life. We don't want either one.
Bullshit
