- This Song Saved My Life…Literally! It started when I was 12 and all hope had left me, life was harsh, I was an emotional ashtray… and then Courtney Love showed up in my TV, screaming from the top of her lungs, strumming the sh** out of her Fender.
It opened the gates to a possible future, to a glorious, colorful one…I got very sick the same year but my mom brought “Live through this” to the hospital and made me listen to it on one night, when the doctors felt there was not much more they could do to help me. I wasn’t conscious but my mom put the headphones on me the whole night…And I woke up the next morning and I knew that I wanted to “Go on, take everything”. THIS… is my favorite song OF ALL TIMES!
So, I did this little fan cover, this attempt of an hommage because singing this song means so much to me. I will never pretend to sing it better or to elevate it in any way! Nobody ever could! They truly captured the essence of Rage and Poetry in the same jar that day in the studio! And I know many people still have a special connection to this song!

My connection to the song, or rather the album, is very different to yours. This was, for me, a breakup album focussed on Doll Parts more than Violet. I would listen to the album and play along on drums or bass until my hands (& potentially the neighbour's ears) hurt as much as my heart. I still have that loneliness inside, I still miss her, I still love this album. Thank you for giving me something so stripped back I can play out my own part in it although if a recorded full band version is / becomes available please let me know. That said I still love what Kristen did and still does every time I hear it. Kristen Pfaff RIP.
