  • This episode's mission was to get to Racehorse Pass from the South side of the Livingstone Public Land Use Zone. Only to be turned around from snow that just seems to not want to go away.

Oh the irony of a jeep guy wearing a shirt with a land cruiser on it.

Great adventure and video, yet again! I’m at a loss - I complain about hauling a dinky little M101Cdn, and there’s Todd pulling a sizable Off Grid Trailer and making it look easy. From the looks of his rig, I’m guessing he has regeared. The trailer’s axle is way back too, so it probably shimmy and shakes a lot less. Nice. I was down that way last weekend but didn’t know where the heck to turnoff into Racehorse Creek so shot up to Dutch to find a last minute spot. It was a greasy drive up the mud road from the campsite after the storm Sat eve. Those water levels are intense, and I was worried just the same as you in middle of the night. Mass exodus Sunday am, but man I love the neighborhood. Regards, oh and I forgot to mention that the chow looked delicious.

Great video!! I mark your locations on my Scenic Maps APP for my next road trip from Ontario to BC. The trap looks like a Badger or Wolverine live trap. There was a study done in various parts of Alberta on the Wolverine and traps like that where built so they could tranquillize them for research, then place back in the trap with the door open so they would awake in a protected structure.

Nice! I'm starting to lose my mind here sitting in YYC waiting get out and about... Just not sure if I want to turn it into a 'task' (creating a video), or just just venture out and clear my mind for a while! Too bad the rains are moving in for the this weekend though, otherwise, I'm going to start on that GPS challenge of yours!

Your trap - it appears to be old so may either be a live trap for wolverine for biologists to do their study. A bit small for a bear trap but in the last century trappers did use these for bear. On my line I found a few that were very large - often 4' X 4' X 8' in size with no door. They were baited and large leg holds set inside for black and grizzly bears. I had one very near my cabin (and where the old cabin dating back to the 40's) was. As in those days garbage was not hauled out and bear like to snoop around it was obvious why this trap was so close. Nice area - will have to check some of these out.

We used to ride our RZRs over racehorse from Coleman but it was closed years ago got washed out. To my knowledge it is still closed but I could be wrong. I know all the trails and roads in that area.

It looks like to be a old badger trap
Researchers would make them also to trap and tag

Wolverine trap? can't think of anything that would need that much sidewall protection and too small for a bear?
