Flat pan the boot floor by cutting out the spare wheel well and riveting a sheet of ali in. Remove structure inside the boot lid and bonnet, and put them on bonnet pins so you can ditch the hinges and lock mechanisms.
Could do this on the compact too! But do it proper and get the welder out again. Great mod for a drift e36 because it's way easier to swap out diff/shafts with a flat boot floor

Andy there are weight blocks on the frame rails front and rear that can be removed when you take the bumper off. Basically lead blocks that volvo installs to make the ride more smooth/less vibrating. Easy weight savings right there .
Cut the rear scuttle ( the metal between the boot and where the rear seats where) get rid of all sound deadening, remove any wheel liners if it has any 🤣 and can even remove the rear crash bar could save about another 20-30kg. Also can cut the inner lining of the boot and bonnet and get rid of the spare wheel well. Don’t forget speed holes too there easy enough to do 👍🏻

Thank you Andy lmao, love the car volvo 940's have cast iron weights in the frame rails behind the bumper shock inserts and one on the firewall behind the head of the motor, id rip those out if you havent. Easy 10lbs, cleans up the engine bay too 👍

When cutting poly or any plastic use a jig saw or skill saw grinder just burns and melts the plastic to the disc and you’ll burn out the grinder learned that the hardway cutting nylon
Honda jazz battery, cut out any of the loom that doesn’t need to be there, speakers and radio, drill some holes out of the inside and scrap off some underseal/sound deadening
sunroof and mechanism is very heavy on those cars. if you remove that and throw a street sign or something in place of it It’ll save a bunch of weight.
