If you read about the original 1937 Snow White actress and how she famously didnt ever want to break the illusion for the children who loved the movie by never appearing in public at all, you realise how far Hollywood has fallen. She was so grateful to have played the part at all and knew her film was a children's masterpiece. Adriana Caselotti's story is so inspiring.
Except that she did appear in public, at least several years later. I remember seeing a news item about her when she was 75; wearing full Snow White kit, she turned up at a Disney park and had the little ones (children, not Dwarfs) flocking around her. 🙂

When I heard and saw the direction the remake was going, I was displeased so I went to rewatch the original Snow White to refresh my memory and maybe understand why some saw her as "weak" That's not what I saw from the movie... Snow White has actually shown to be a lot stronger than what people give her credit for, she lost her parents at a young age, neglected by her stepmother, only given rags to wear and kept around seemingly to just clean her stepmother's premises and she survives the huntman her own stepmother sent to kill her By all means she could be a bitter person that complains about how horrible and unfair life is but Snow White has never complained, instead she picks herself up, moves on, pushes through her problems and still finds it in her heart to be kind to all she meets! In fact that was exactly what she did after running to the woods after finding out her stepmother sent a huntsman after her, she cried on the ground but soon picked herself up, showed kindness by apologizing for frightening the animals and pushed through her problem of needing a place to hide and stay by simply not being ashamed to ask for help! Snow White IS a strong character, you can see it clearly in her resiliency.
Honestly I don’t blame her for being scared in the woods. The woods in that film looked terrifying.. People who say she’s weak because she is scared of something that’s supposed to be scary, probably haven’t witnessed a jumpscare before.

I always thought her voice went through a processor in order to get it to sound so high pitched and mousey. She was blessed with a special vocal range that no woman will ever be able to achieve naturally. Adriana was born to voice Snow White, a character that represents all that is innocent, pure, and compassionate.
Snow White is my 76 year old grandmother’s favorite movie. We still talk about it with each other to this day. The movie and subsequently Snow White’s voice actress are very, very special to me ❤️
It's one of my favorite German fairy tales! Really twisted, but a book I once had had the full length version with gorgeous artwork that explains a lot that the movie didn't include. (The movie didn't depreciate the magic or beauty)

I'm nearly 35. My childhood only feels like yesterday and his was one of my favourite Disney films, including the ones from the 80s/90s. They had that same magic to me. Even the atmosphere when you went to see them at the cinema and everyone around you was excited. Disney made everything so special to the children. Today's Disney is completely soulless. My 9 year old neice rolls her eyes at Disney. Never thought I'd see that. Ps my dad bought me snow white on video so I treasured it. He's no longer with me either 😢

I miss this era of Disney Princesses where professional theater and stage actors and opera singers played the characters. Not that the modern princesses aren't good but there was just something otherworldly about this era and how they sang and spoke. I don't like that everything has to be a major pop song now.

This gives me so much nostalgia the first time I watched it it was subbed in Chinese, but it wasn’t really helpful because I was too young to be able to read it. I would watch it with my cousin and we both would be so scared...we thought it was a horror film lol. But we would still rewatch the DVD, and it wasn’t scary anymore since we knew what to expect 😂

This gives me so much nostalgia the first time I watched it it was subbed in Chinese, but it wasn’t really helpful because I was too young to be able to read it. I would watch it with my cousin and we both would be so scared...we thought it was a horror film lol. But we would still rewatch the DVD, and it wasn’t scary anymore since we knew what to expect 😂
