Lauri Allan Törni (28 May 1919 - 18 October 1965), was a Finnish born American soldier who fought under three flags.
1. as a Finnish Army officer in the Winter War and the Continuation War ultimately gaining a rank of captain
2. as a SS captain of the Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the SS when he fought the Red Army on the Eastern Front in World War II and
3. as a United States Army Major when he served in the U.S. Army Special Forces in the Vietnam War.
Törni died in a helicopter crash during the Vietnam War and he was promoted to the rank of major posthumously. His remains were located three decades later and then buried in Arlington National Cemetery. he is the only former member of the SS known to be interred there.

The fact he was brave enough to join the Green Beret despite being apart of the SS during WW2 was true bravery, I salute Lauri Allan Törni.
To be fair, Germany was the only country that actually seemed to give a damn about Finland, even if it was for selfish reasons. That was more than, say, Britain and America.

I'm Israeli arab and this man just became one of my heroes. My father and grandfather were cross-country skier and good shooters, I hated both activities. I did civilian service instead of the military.

My grandfather was hit by shrapnel in WW2. He was my hero and now 80 years later s..t is still happening in Russia. With tanks and airforce we were outnumbered 1/10, but still kept our independence. So trust me, WE WILL REMEMBER!
