- Here is an indepth video that captures the life and spirit as we farewell 2020 and welcome 2021. Hopefully this video explains and shows what the Fara is about and how we the Rotumans celebrate a new year wishing everyone a prosperous better year than the last.
Every year Rotuman people celebrate what we call "Fara" where we dance and sing and celebrate the ending and beginning of a new year and is very unique to our culture.
Fara (Which means "to ask" in Rotuman) is a traditional Rotuman cutlural and social event, occurring in the summertime festival of "Av' Manea" (Party Time) where groups of people of singers and dancers travel from house to house to perform and entertain their hosts.
