Fun fact "Archon" in ff14 actually refers to someone who studied at the Shayarlan academy and presented a thesis. Meaning, this is less a burger for a higher being, and more one for a PhD grad student.
Well, considering some of the things the Warrior of Light and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn pull off, either definition fits.
This is giving me a chuckle as a friend linked me to this video and I literally just messaged him jokingly pointing out the description of an Archon in a video is incorrect and then I saw your comment. Great minds and all that. :P

As a player that has all his crafting classes maxed out, you need to have your Indagator gear equipped or this synthesis should have failed. You got lucky. All jokes aside, this looked yummy. Nice job!

not sure he got 100% HQ with that top/bottom bun ratio, with some better materia melds, he'd have got it done with a 1click macro.

What an amazing recipe! This burger is served at the Last Stand, named as such because the Sharlayans are infamous for not really caring about what they eat as long as it gives them nourishment-- they're too busy being nerds-- but the founder of the Last Stand was fed up with this mentality and founded literally the only restaurant on the island nation.
Naturally, the next step is to make Archon Loaf. A terrible bread loaf sometimes made with fish that is nutritionally complete, but presumably culinarily lacking.

Archon Loaf does exist irl, it's called Nutriloaf and was developed to be eaten by high-security prisoners who were deemed unfit to use any type of cutlery. Like archon loaf, it is miserable to eat but nominally has the necessary nutrients needed for human survival.
Legally, it only barely being avoided being labeled as "cruel and unusual punishment" in the United States.
I have only ever made one youtube video, and it is making the Archon Loaf. It wasn't worth it 😂

I can't believe you didn't go to the local rabbit hole and ask the lopporits living there for the alien onion, worked well for me when I tried crafting this one.
But seeing Graha eating a burger brings me immense joy and I hope we can see him enjoying a Taco in Dawntrail.

@@Greco4915 You can make a ridiculous amount of recipes which are analogous to real food in XIV. In fact, food items are among the most sought after purchases by RPers and raiders alike, so you can in theory make an excellent amount of gil being a full-time in game chef.

For real though--this was awesome, and I'm so glad you did it. I don't even like cheese (more for the rest of y'all--don't hate me), but that burger looked amazing in game, and you made it look absolutely incredible IRL.

I'm sure Master's Degree and Doctorate holders all over the world are flattered by such a description (as that is basically what an Archon is in XIV)
I thought it was a little higher than that, a sort of "One of the top experts in your specific field in the world" kind of things, like there's a whole process before you get the tattoo.

For the record: Ovoibos look to be overlarge sheep, so, you probably want a different cheese than cheddar.
"Ovine" is binomial nomenclature for sheep. So yes, a sheep's milk cheese is what you want.
Feta or Halloumi would have been awesome to try.

As an active FFXIV player for 8 years, makes me happy to see a recipe from the game made on this channel. Alvin and the rest of the BCU now have a small Direct hit and Determination buff :D

There's a lovely Twitch Streamer/CZcamsr ARecipeReborn who has done a fair few FFXIV recipes, everything from Sohm Al Tarts to the infamous Meol, and it's amazing to see FFXIV recipes get a bit more attention! I've seen a few comments now suggesting the Archon Loaf, and I entirely agree, as less than palatable as the loaf is meant to be.
As an avid FFXIV player, I'm stoked to see it represented in Arcade with Alvin.

That was a Ton of saffron. I once did a crown roast of beef with a similarly ample amount of a saffron rub. People were licking the bones at the end.

IDK why saffron is such an expensive spice when there's already so many very common plants that have a much higher saffrol content them saffron. Like sassafras trees for example.

He has to give explanations that the larger audience will understand, so oversimplifications and missing details from time to time are bound to be a thing.

There has been a disturbing lack of final fantasy inspired recipes, particularly from FF15. Please make some more of those in the future. Some suggestions could be the Dry-Age Tender Roast Stew, King’s Stew, Triple Truffle Risotto, or the Creamy Crustacean Omelette

when in doubt, Yak milk is a fine substitute for Ovibos milk, jus doesnt have the right taste but its fine.

Great episode! Alien onions aren't actually onions, but a crop found only in the remote space cluster of asteroids known as "Ultima Thule" which vaguely resemble them. Shallots probably would have been a better match, but the result looks delicious regardless.

I always wonder where you pull the recipes from. This came from an fully created recipe as you point out, but on some or most of these do you have to figure out or just wing it in creating a recipe for these? And will you be putting out a collection of Arcade and Anime with Alvin together?
i actually dont think this one came from a fully created recipe; rather, i think he's referring to the in-game definitely-not-a-real-life-usable-recipe "recipe" as a reference for an Actually Usable Recipe he developed himself and/or from a mishmash of other recipes

Ohoo, making your own lye solution with baking soda was a clutch move. All lye is, is food grade sodium hydroxide, which is very alkaline. Baking soda, sodium bicarbonate, is also basic. Baking soda is not as basic as lye, so I’m intrigued to see it still work! That’s pretty neat.
Here’s hoping for Zero’s Curry for the next ffxiv video!
