What is 'Resonance' on a filter? (Quick Tutorial)

  • In this quick tutorial I'm explaining what the 'Resonance' control on a filter does.
It actually boosts the frequencies around the cutoff frequency, so this enhances the filtersweep when sweeping the cutoff-frequency through the frequency spectrum.

Quick, to the point and easy to understand. Love tutorials like this. Other channels want to waste 10 + minutes to explain something that only takes under a minute.
    Thank you!

its almost comical how quick this is, left me saying nice with a big smile on my face before i ever knew it was over

That was a really nicely done tutorial. It was short, to the point, and had nice graphics. I'd like it if you'd demonstrated the effect of a super-high resonance, that annoying ringy sound but in any case, I'm glad this is the first thing I found when I wanted a demonstration of resonance filters.

Absolutely fantastic: short and to the point, like so many of the other comments are saying. It's a shame that so many other tutorials are nowhere near this concise. Sometimes it seems like people are hiding the simplicity of the content behind a veil of increased length, as if to deter most from following through. Consequently, I was expecting this tutorial to be too short and insufficient, because of prior experience!
A job well done. Keep making these. :D

Thanks so much. Recently bought a DJ mixer with tons of features and it has dedicated HPF & LPF with a resonance control. It's always helpful to know what a specific control is doing graphical with the signal.

Nice, short and to the point, I like it. If only all the tutorials on youtube were like this, I'd watch more of them. Sadly, most tutorials are 20 min long, takes forever to get to the point, has some guy (and/or gal) babbling away about some bullshit I don't care about, and I end up saying "fuck it" I'll find a text-based tutorial, or I just figure it out myself.
So yeah, I've learned exactly what i wanted to know. Thanks.
