Today I woke up feeling not deflated, but content. It really is okay. I feel like I somehow have a new sense of optimism within the scary and crazy and beautiful uncertainty of whatever happens next.

UnJaded Jade i just wanted to tell you, you're not the only one. I had my heart set on cambridge since I was 11 and worked so hard for it. When it didn't work out I was absolutely crushed, I was angry and sad and aimless and then I just got with it. And I wouldn't change it for the world. And this is not to say, don't work hard for something and get it, but I have made the experience that all these things make you grow and shape you in the most amazing ways and often, having to rethink what is going to happen and making new and updated choices actually improves things. One thing, I don't know whether you are thinking about it or not, gap years are amazing. A friend of mine deferred very late and spontaneously in august and had an incredible with incredible experiences. And I wouldn't not have done my gap year for the world. You've been in education all your life and - i don't know, I had an existential crisis when I came back and I dealt with that and now at Uni, I know I've made an informed decision.
On the other hand, you are are an incredible young women, smart and hard-working and confident and engaged and you have infinite possibilities in your future. (And sometimes, better things come out of having to go a different way about The One Dream. My sister wants to do medicine, has not managed the test in Germany the first time and now is training as a paramedic for this year and she is learning SO much and has never loved her life more). England has a strange elitism about Oxbridge bjt getting rejected will make you gain perspective and eventually it won't sting so much anymore.

Looking back on this, you were so right Jack!
Jade - four years ago, I got rejected by Oxford too, when others from my school were accepted. One girl in particular, who did get a place, rather enjoyed taunting me about it. I ended up having the most INCREDIBLE three years at Lancaster University, not just academically, but also personally. I graduated with a first class honours degree in History and Politics, and I left having grown as a person. During my last year, I was accepted on to one of the most competitive graduate schemes in the UK, and I'm now partway through my first year on the scheme. And you know what? The girl who taunted me about not getting a place at Oxford, when she did, also applied to this graduate scheme, and WASN'T successful. Now I'm not like her, I didn't take any delight in that. My purpose of mentioning it, is to simply stress that attending Oxford (or Cambridge), doesn't necessarily mean success afterwards. Just as Oxford decided I wasn't right for them, the organisation I now work for decided my former classmate wasn't right for their graduate scheme, despite that piece of paper with University of Oxford on it. You are clearly dedicated, hard-working, and ambitious, and if you continue to carry that with you, you will do great things. Good luck!

Although I got an offer from Oxford, I didn't end up getting the grades.... I cried for about 5 days. But I'm now in my third year at Bristol and it was honestly the best thing that ever happened to me. Im eternally grateful for that twist of fate. Good Luck with whatever you choose next!

Iâve followed you since you started your channel and I owe you SO much for getting me through GCSES (and a 9 in lit ahah). But after that I got rejected from a sixth form I REALLY wanted to go to because school was my life and was absolutely devastated. But 5 months later I am a full time CZcamsr and my life couldnât be on MORE of a different course. (Not that I recommend dropping out of school ahah). Just remember that it wonât mean anything in a few months time when youâre exactly where you want to be.

This is so disheartening wow! I mean jade literally has it all. She performed SO incredibly well on her GCSEs, did DofE, is headgirl, did so much extracurricular activities such as NCyes, and then went on to achieve even more outstanding A-level grades and literally outdid herself by being amongst get the top performing student. She put so much time, effort and compassion into the process of applying to Oxford! Jade, this video has helped me so much. I completely understand your disappointment as I am in a similar situation to yourself. I am in my final year of university and applied for a summer job at Disney World in Florida. I made it through three stages of interview that all involved a great deal of travelling. The final outcome is that I have been waitlisted, which I found out on my 21st birthday. Obviously, Disney isn't Oxford, but I just wanted to say that I completely understand where you're coming from. You've also made me realise that it is not the end of the world, and there are many other routes/options. Thank you so much, and it is so clear that your future is going to be incredible xx

Please donât be too disheartened! Youâre a talented and lovely girl. I and many others would never even have the guts to apply to such a regarded place. You have so many good attributes and youâre sure to achieve many things regardless of where you can go. The best thing you can do is accept this moment which will be painful (it would be very much for anyone) and push through and persevere. Make it so that they will regret not having you! You will realise at some point that you did not need Oxford at all and youâre highly capable wherever you end up. I didnât apply to Oxford but really wanted to go to Edinburgh Uni. I didnât get in and was super sad about it. That was 7 years ago and Iâve just finished my PhD & Iâm about to get married to someone I met at my second choice institution. As cheesy as it sounds, things sometimes do work out for the better, even when it feels really awful!! Looking forward to seeing your journey, whatever it might be. đđ»

I've also had a very horrible yet upsetting day today (the worst).I literally was like you today, the excessive stress and tears when waiting for the decision email, and then when I found out that that I had been rejected from Cambridge University I thought that all my hard work had gone to waste because everything I worked for was for my dream to go to Cambridge university to study medicine simply because I loved medicine and the way it was taught. I also don't want to go to school, dreading my head of sixth form and everyone asking me 'did you get in?' Thank you for your comforting words of wisdom and reassurance and don't worry I'm sure you will continue to shine as an awesome biologist in another university. Hey Jade, Iâve wanted to go to Cambridge since the age of 14, I worked my arse off and guess what... yesterday I found out I received a rejection. Yeah there were tears for a while but Iâm taking it way better than I thought I would. Iâm honestly so proud of how I conducted myself through every stage of the process and you should be too! Weâre in the same boat and saying itâs not shit would be a lie but itâs not the end of the world. Iâm so excited for the LSE and so honoured both the LSE and UCL gave me offers. Iâm sure youâve had offers back from other amazing unis and will smash it anywhere you go. I donât know if you believe in God but for anyone who does and received a rejection from whatever university, you canât battle with what God knows is best for you. And even if you donât believe in God, everything happens for a reason. If it was meant for you, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN YOURS, NO MATTER WHAT. I completely relate when you say the pressure from other people is the hardest thing to deal with. Practically the whole worlddd wants to know how you did and itâs exhausting repeating the news but you are the most important person on this journey. As long as you give yourself time off and come to terms with it yourself, other people will not matter. Three people applied to Oxford out of your entire year! A similar number from mine! Most people donât even have Oxbridge on their radar! Treat the process and the interviews as a valuable experience that you had the opportunity to have out of sooo many others that did not. A rejection has motivated me like nothing else. London is one of my most favourite places in the world, the only thing that pulled me towards Cambridge over the LSE was accommodation đ but I know Iâll make that work. Be excited for this next chapter of your life, itâs where youâre meant to be. Sending you love x

It's their loss! Don't be down about it, I got rejected from Oxford, St Andrews and Cambridge years ago! But guess what, I never went to university in the end and I am now doing the job I've always wanted to do, sports journalist! Never went to Uni! You don't have to go to a top uni or go to uni at all to be successful in life. There is so much the world has to offer, it's your oyster. Wish you luck for the future.

M J i'm not the person who commented but i'm pretty sure you can do journalism apprenticeships now (i guess depending on where you live. they might be more popular/available in certain areas, like around london). sometimes you can work your way up through internships as well.

I watched this when it was first posted and it is probably what inspired me most to apply. For me, the whole way through the application process, the fear of rejection scared me from applying but this video showed me that rejection is still ok. I did it. I got an interview which in itself was above my wildest dreams. And then today I was rejected. I have never related to a video as much as I have now. Thank you for your honesty and positivity. đ
Even though you are currently disappointed, the way you try to lift yourself up & be genuinely happy for your friends just so, so heartwarming. That attitude will lead you to another great opportunities. Donât look back & keep it up girl! So proud of you :)

I went through the exact same thing last year when I was rejected. I got an email during my first lesson but didnât tell anyone because I found it so hard and embarrassing. I totally agree with how deflating the process is and itâs so disheartening, but itâs really not the end of the world. The thing I found hardest was telling people but they were so positive and supportive. Iâm now on my gap year and feeling so so positive about the future! You have amazing things ahead of you, and you deserve to be successful! Just remember your intelligence is not defined by this and youâll still do amazingly at another university. Everybody here is mentioning your grades and yes, they were perfect and yes you're brilliant academically BUT honestly you're so much more than that? I know that sounds cheesy and stuff, but I think sometimes Oxbridge et similia fail to recognize how much there is to a person than their grades and polished interviews (I mean, even the personal statement has to be 85% "look how great I am at the subject I'm currently applying to" and 15% "I also do this and this... You know?"). You are committed to your school not only study-wise but socially and *personally*, you volunteer, you have strong ethics (questioning what is on your plate isn't something a lot of people do), you haVE A CZcams CHANNEL WITH 111K SUBSCRIBERS and you never fail to inspire them and motivate them???
Probably you hear this a lot but whenever I look at you, I see a special glow - I can truly find beauty in the person that you are, not only physically, but mentally and spiritually. It truly comes from my heart, I mean how in the world a person you don't even know would take this much time to write something like this if it weren't true? đ
Also! Remember your gap year!!! When your first mentioned it you were so excited, and said you would pursue that path unless you got an offer from Oxford. Maybe it is meant for you to take this gap year and (even though I'm not sure how the whole thing works and if you can actually do this) maybe re-apply for Oxford next year if you feel like it?
