Costa vs Chimaev in a three round fight is the most entertaining and best case scenario we could get as fans. 3 round Costa goes hard. Standup war for sure.

Khamzat would not engage in a stand up fight with Costa lol. He would likely immediately take him down.

Thats a tougher fight for Chimaev than it is for Costa.
How? Khamzat is the most dangerous at 185. He has more energy and power.

Khamzat was undefeated in freestyle wrestling at 205 lbs, Costa couldn't get Rockhold out of there. Let's not pretend Khamzat didn't take Burns down at will and only didn't engage long on the ground because he was afraid of the submission threats from Burns. Khamzat is still pretty new to the UFC and Burns is a 4x world champion grappler with like a 4th degree black belt in BJJ. I do not think Costa is going to be as dangerous on his back as someone like Gilbert Burns would be, so he'll get wrestled the entire fight.
Not saying Costa can't catch him because he does hit hard, but Ikram Aliskerov has only been beaten by Khamzat and it was by a knockout at 185. Ikram has trained a lot with the Nurmagomedov and Makhachev teams.
I think we're heading into a new era for 185ers where grappling starts to shine because the only wrestler people will tell you about at 185 recently is Yoel Romero, but this is an unfair comparison. Yoel broke his neck in like 2011 and had many surgeries where his upper vertebrae became fused and he started having to turn his torso to move his head like a 90s batman. Undoubtedly this impacted Yoel's ability to implement his wrestling and ground game. The three hottest contender prospects being Chimaev, Nickal, and Aliskerov, with some other guys outside of the top 15 all looking impressive as well on the ground.

Spot on with Aliskerov too. The way Khamzat knocked him out was brutal and so precise. Khamzat only had three pro fights under his belt. A lot of people don’t know who Ikram Aliskerov is. He’s a 4x conbat Sambo champ. He is the one who beat Amosov in a Sambo match. Amosov is 26-0 in Belator. Khamzat also trained with Amosov.
I can’t wait to see Aliskerov fight in the UFC soon. Him, Khamzat, and Bo at 185 is gonna make 185 the most interesting division.
I don’t see many guys beating any of these guys. Whittakers knows this and wants to move to 205 as weight cuts are getting harder on him. Against young killers like this. It’s gonna be hard.
I would love to see Aliskerov vs Bo seeing both are new in UFC, but I think Dana wants to protect Bo for a couple years. That’s his US boy money man in the future.

Costa's 1-0 vs Chimaev in the intimidation game. He caught him awkward, & then followed up with more comedy gold. The way Khamzat behaved when it was him & his crew vs Costa & Jake Shields was telling, to say the least. The universe wants this fight, & will pay handsomely to witness it.

Costa has been calling out Khumshot for a while. Khumshot has been running his mouth about everyone avoiding him while he in fact is running scared.

I’m disappointed that Khamzat is no longer trying to get the Welterweight title before he goes up to Middleweight and be champ there. That was like his main gimmick that turned him into a hype train. He was the only one fighting at either 170 or 185, fighting anybody, with minimal notice. In my opinion, it’s a poor choice. I kinda understand though cause of the bad weigh in miss. I thought I heard Dana say he was giving him one more chance at 170? Guess I was mistaken
Edit** and Chael, you’re bugging. If Izzy manages to beat Alex you can’t just disregard the previous 3 fights. Definitely not the first UFC one. I’d expect them to do a rubber match of their UFC fights if Izzy wins. Hope he doesn’t though, cause if he does we’d be forced to watch him cycle through the division again, until Khamzat gets a shot.

I think regardless of whether Pereira wins or loses, he will fight Wittaker next. If Pereira wins the title, Robert will fight for the title. If Pereira loses, Robert will fight him and if he wins he will fight Izzy again for the title.

i think it makes perfect sense for him to take on Costa.. if Chimaev wins, he said he wants to go back down to fight the 170 champion (winner of Colby vs Leon) at the end of the year, let the 185 division play out, and then fight for the title next year.. if Costa wins, he needs 1 more to get back to the title after Chimaev

I'm assuming Chimaev will win that fight as most of us probably are but with strength and power of a guy who should go to 205 you never know. Ask Izzy.
