    There is a reason why Easy Allies is my favorite review source. No other reviews mentioned how good the controller feedback is and very few mention how the emphasis is on perfecting the handling and physics. Thanks for another review that feels like the reviewer actually paid attention to the game and didn't just blow through the game to get a review out quickly.

      I knew it would be. I got so used to them with games like the GTARemasters, and DiRT 5, I knew GT7 was going to be a masterpiece. What I didn’t expect is even the motion controls are good! Took a bit to learn, but once you do, man!

    8.5 is very fair imo. It's a good game but I think it's holding onto some out of date elements and there are some design decisions that don't make sense to me. One of the main ones for me (and something Blood covered here) is that every race in the campaign uses a rolling start despite grid starts actually being an option in customized races. It means that the AI drivers often have a massive advantage and you're spending half the race just chasing them down. Glad Blood covered that and it's something I hope Polyphony will change next time for the campaign.

    • @Gloop97
      @Gloop97 Před 2 lety +1

      Agreed, once the review was finished and the score was about to show, I was fairly certain it was going to be an 8.5. The way the review was structured, written and narrated perfectly captures the score in my opinion.
      I hope that the game truly does keep getting updated with more content and quality of life improvements because I envisage this to be more of a "live-service" game where despite it being another numbered GT game, I think it will probably be the only one released this generation with more focus on updates and longetivity.

    • @kresimircosic9035
      @kresimircosic9035 Před 2 lety +2

      Agree, objectively it is 8.5 due to small errors like that and the possible MTX grindfest, but I still love it to death, the handling and tuning and presentation is absolutely top above all others.
      This will grow to be a majestic game in the years to come.

      Till you have a copy and cannot play it, because servers are down?
      It is fair because as post on gtplanet showed gt7 is the most grindy gt game? Or because it become even worse with the recent failed update?
      I watched many reviews praising this game. I played gt5, gt6, still playing gt sport. But experience thought me mtx plus always online? Wait for deep deep sale. Will I play gt7? Sure but when I find a copy of it in the bargain bin.

      I can understand having grievances with some of the out dated elements, however I think the attention to detail and how exquisitely executed the gameplay is, more than makes up for any lack of streamlined functionality. Plus, outdated systems or not, I think the pacing & tone of GT7 nicely balances the actual intense driving simulation.

It's entire MTX model and always online single player campaign have put some horrific blemishes on what should be a celebration of the franchise. My only complaint is that thete is no option to qualify before races for better position, like the older games. Without it, the game is Daytona USA. Start at the back and try to finish 1st place. You cant have realistic racing if the ai has to mathmatically be slow enough for you to make up upwards of a 30 second per lap gap from 20th place.

    I don't recommend paying full price for this game, period.
    I bought the game day one and I was really having a blast until I saw how much this game is built around microtransactions, they pretty much nerfed all cash prizes in order to push you to spend real money to buy credits in order to buy cars. Even at the beginning of your journey the game replaces prizes like credits and cars for "invitations" to spend millions of credits on a Lamborghini or Bugatti. It's offensive that they consider an invitation to spend millions and millions that you won't have so early in the game as a REWARD instead of things that would help you like new cars or credits. Below is a simple comparison between the prize for the same event between GT Sport and GT7:
    CUSTOM RACE: 24 hours duration / 20 cars / Gr.1 / Hard difficulty
    GT7 PRIZE POOL: 248,248 Cr.
    GT SPORT PRIZE POOL: 7,980,000 Cr.

      I'm not having the same experience at all. I have never felt the need to spend anything on micro transactions. I haven't finished the game yet, but I have over 60 cars in my garage now and was able to win every race so far with the cars I was given as rewards. I occasionally spend some credits on tuning, but I'm still sitting at around 1,5 million. So I could buy extra cars if I wanted, but the fun for me comes from winning the races with what I have. Just buying a Bugatti at the start of the game and blasting past every opposition does not sound fun to me. If I have 1 critique of the game, I would say I find it a bit too easy. So receiving even more credits would actually make it worse in my opinion.

    • @maxminy5634
      @maxminy5634 Před 2 lety +2

      If you have patience it’s no problem at all. The game does force you to drive with lesser cars but after a while the money comes easy. After 9 hours in, I’ve been rewarded great cars and loads of money. I can easily get 100k for a clean race on some 10 minute races. It kind of makes you appreciate the cars you have and to be able to get them all is a feat reserved for the people that invest the most time. I wonder, if there was no option to buy credits, if this would even be a concern. Even for newcomers I would say grind through the game, it just makes you a better driver. It’s sort of forces you to strategize how to beat certain races with car purchases / tuning etc. That being said, yes GT sport handed out more money. So maybe developers will change the reward system a bit if there are a lot of complaints.

    • @FebreGundam
      @FebreGundam Před 2 lety +1

      @@maxminy5634 Let's also not forget that in GT Sport you only use Credits to buy cars but in GT7 you also have to spend a lot of money to improve and tune your cars to keep progressing, even for online races, thanks to the odd choice of making Sport mode based on tunning instead of the tried and true BoP from GTS. When microtransactions are involved from the get-go, it's hard to believe that they will not affect the game design in some aspect, even against the developer's will.

    Going to leave my very honest review of this game (Purely from the off-line perspective, I haven't touched Multiplayer yet), coming from someone new to the GT world.
    I'm a filthy controller player too, as I don't have the commitment to bother buying a wheel, when I play on a 75 inch screen in my theatre. It would look straight up ridiculous. So grab a coffee if you're going to read the whole post 😂
    It's a fantastic looking game, judging from comparisons to previous instalments in terms of vehicle detail; visual customisation; dynamic weather, how the cars feel individually and the very brutal changes of road surface when the rain starts coming down. Car tuning is also brilliant, and does an incredible job of subtly changing a car's feel, whether it be a tweak to the camber or toe angles etc.
    It's hard for racing games to make you actually FEEL like you're going fast, but I think this game does a pretty good job of that overall once you start flying past the 200mph mark. It still maintains great detail of other cars as you pass them, and they don't look like they're simply floating on the surface of the road, and are very much moving with the indentations of the track in terms of suspension and body roll.
    There's a great choice of tracks once you unlock them, and the options of choosing weather throughout a custom race is a neat little addition. The racing lines are easy enough to follow without any aids, and it's a nice challenge working out the different braking distances for each car on each track.
    Car sounds are fantastic, and it's great that they change notes with different modifications. The difference in sound when you transition between camera positions is excellent (Especially noting the cockpit view in this instance).
    The Licencing and Mission challenges were definitely a rough transition for someone who has never played around with GT titles except for GT1 many many years ago, but we're extremely rewarding once you got all golds. The cars I earned in these two categories aided me massively for the actual "Story", and set me up nicely for buying a decent car prior to starting the next menu.
    I'm trying not to make this too long-winded, but I'll try to keep the negatives down within reason.
    1. For a game that calls itself "The Real Driving Simulator", the fact there is absolutely no punishment anywhere for breaching course lines to take shortcuts, is baffling to me. As long as you are back on track in five seconds, you don't get penalised, but that's plenty of time for someone to fly across the chicanes in Belgium or Le Mans, and shave 5/10 seconds off their time.
    2. No damage model really confused and disappointed me. I'm aware that GT isn't a torch bearer for damage models, but this would have been an excellent opportunity to showcase next-gen capabilities to render real damage to cars, and result in a driver being unable to complete a race. Hitting a barrier or other driver at 250mph with absolutely no repercussions whatsoever, is a real shame. Again, there's no penalty for ramming other drivers in the story mode, which seems insane when you're racing in Championship events against Group B or C race cars. Even to have some sort of SIMULATED damage where if you hit a barrier or driver too hard, you damage your suspension, brakes etc that mean you have to pit for longer to get them fixed.
    3. Ridiculous trophies. What in the hell is the point of the game forcing you to buy ten of the exact same car, besides wasting 2/400k of your money? (Depending what you buy of course).
    4. Not being able to sell cars that you buy. (See Point 3 for a prime example of this). You now have ten useless cars in your garage that you can't get rid of, and now take up room while you scroll for a car you want.
    5. Legendary Cars. Those that want the trophy for the three cars destined to win 24h races are going to have to either put hundreds of hours grinding the same Rally levels (You know the ones) for a measly 95k, when the Jag XJ13 costs you a fat 12 Million alone. That's $180AUD just for one car, if you wanted to fast track it with micro transactions.
    6. Race winnings. It's crazy to think that the highest paying races are the two rally stages, which pay out a Max of 95k per clean race, when you have the Le Mans 24 Minute challenge, or the 30 minute race on Tsukoba Circuit that pay you a fat 10k (From memory). If you're doing a race that's 10 laps or more (Excluding Daytona Oval), you should surely be getting 100k minimum payouts, without the clean bonus. I think they've really dropped the ball on how the credits are issued for winning races.
    7. After completing every single menu, Licence and Mission on Gold, I earned three cars from roulette tickets (Think it was well over 40 tickets from memory), and one 100k credit pile. Not one single part. The other 95% were 10k coin payouts at best, which is 1/3 of the cost of a set of racing softs, for fuck's sake.
    7. I'm speaking purely from an Australian perspective here, but it would have been good to see at least one native car to earn that is home to Bathurst Racetrack (Ie, the V8 Supercars). I'm sure there are other native cars to other nations that would have been welcome from other members of the world too.
    Probably bored you all to death with my War and Peace monologue, but I think there are definitely some points they could improve on for future updates (Credit payouts for one), that would improve the game drastically.
    I don't hate the game, but I don't love it after all the negative stuff I've found. There are definitely other good and bad points, but I've TRIED to tone it down as much as possible. It's a great game that's left a bad after taste. I'd say a 7/10 at best, at this stage. Since I've completed all the Missions / World Map / Circuit Experiences / Licence challenges on Gold, I can't see myself coming back to it until they bring some updates out.

    The game is solid 9/10 for me,
    The only things that dosen’t make it to 10/10, is
    1 there needs to be more ways to earn roulettes than daily workout after you done the cafe, or make it possible with 3 milestones in daily workout 42 km, 150 km, 500 km etc.
    2 make it possible to sell cars for 25% of value,
    3 we need much more world circuit events witch are confirmed for updates,
    4 more cars and tracks is still a bit lacking but not as much needed as events, of we reach 600 cars and 40 track locations after 3 years and all of those stuff fixad in my other 3 points, it will be 10/10 for me, its still an awesome racing game, in my opinion the best since gt4

    Honestly this game is near perfection but the ONLY THING I HATE is the rate of credits that you earn. I understand that you earn it slow because they want this game to last a long time BUT then take away the microtransaction aspect then.

      I am not for always-online DRM, but I would hardly call it an armed robbery. Perhaps you hold onto your games and play them after a few years, I cannot for the life of me turn an old game on if a newer version exists. I like to move along with the development in the industry, so perhaps it does not affect me as badly.

    I’ll buy it with all the dlc for 25 bucks down the road. Too expensive for what it is. Obtuse old cluttered hub, obtuse old camera, no launch grid, etc. it’s the old gt structure with new graphics. A good game but too many mistakes carried over and over for decades now. I’d only spend my money if it’s for 25 bucks. Good luck and enjoy if you are paying full price though

      I waited for gt sport got it last year for 5eur, I have a nice time still playing it.
      GT7 turn into a sh!t show right now. Failed patch, servers are down, the most grindy game in the series plus mtx.
      Nope not worth my money I have many other games to play including racing games.
      As for gt sport I’m fully aware they will pull the plug on this one which means the disc becomes a beer coaster, but with the number of hours I played so far and the price I paid I can live with it.
      So I will get gt7 when it is in a bargain bin.

    I have yet to play this game, but grinding for cars/credits has always been a thing. I remember having to do multi-hour endurance races for a chance to unlock certain cars, and back then microtransactions and buying cars with real money just wasn't an option. As long as the grind hasn't been increased to make the microtransaction option more appealing, I think it's perfectly fine to offer it to those who would consider it.

    I'm glad some major reviewers are honest and brave enough to give this a score lower than a 9 as opposed to huge exclusives seeming to be guaranteed a 9 or above. The game economy (no ability to sell or auction cars, limited-time cars, and microtransactions) and always-online requirement are huge flaws. I also don't like the complete lack of damage, very limited split-screen vehicle selection, last-place starts, or twitchy steering (especially countersteering, at least on the PS4 controller with all assists off). IMO, Forza has been a better series than GT since at least Forza Motorsport 2 (with the exception of FM5), and FM7 is better than GT7 in almost every way.

    Will buy once I get the Gran Turismo DD wheel. It seems Sony's direction with this generation of studio acquisitions is also affecting their existing franchises like GT, in that live service is the priority. Hence the always-online, daily car rotations, microtransactions.

    Great review and a great looking game. I play a lot of GT Sport but in a limited way. I'm just time trialling and arcade racing in my Toyota 2000GT. 3:44 I saw "Chapter 1: Japanese Compact Cars" and immediately rolled my eyes. I honestly do NOT understand this obsession GT has with forcing people to drive the absolute garbage vehicles first. GT5 did it with those awful Kei cars you were stuck with to begin with, and that awful challenge with the VW bus. I get that Kei cars are often a first car in Japan because they're cheap but why not at least start with like Honda Civic tier small cars at least? People actually drive those for sport around the world. I'd rather start with the damn lawn mowers from TOCA3 than a selection of awful slow econoboxes I couldn't give a rat's about as soon as I get anything approaching a reasonable vehicle.
