Ofcourse for mileage and long tours Diesel manual is better. I get mileage of around 15kmpl in diesel manual. Biggest drawback s in Thar will be bootspace and rear seat entry if you are going to travel with a family of 4 people and yes Thar can accommodate max 4 adults. Apart from this its just mind blowing vehicle.

Performance is same for both , it just depends on personal choice . If your inclination is more towards off-roading , go for manual.

Which is better overall Thar diesel or Thar petrol?
Both of them are better in its own way. If you want to feel the power of SUV i personally prefer diesel anyday.
