- A commonly held belief is that human behavior is the result of rational decision making based on available information. A closer look into the science of behavior reveals the powerful role our emotions play in our decision making process. In this animated video, we look at the behavior change process using Jonathan Haidt’s analogy of an elephant, a rider, and a path.

Love this, thank you for making it easy to understand.
thanks for this enlightening tale. emotions are really big factors for change. I knew what I lacked. Thanks Rare.
Get rid of the music or 1/4 the volume.
AND, that IS how change happens!!!
Interesting emotional responses to the music.
Short, succint, - success is possible! Thank you.
The Ukulele background makes my elephant scream
😂😂😂😂
so good! It makes it really easy to understand how to set things up for success regarding behavior change!
Would this example fall under the category of Theory of Planned Behavior?
I enjoyed this short animation immensely. I can see how it works for day-to-day changes (1st order Change). I'm not sure that it applies when a major shift in the frame of reference is needed (2nd order change).
I disagree. We are only seeing the surface in this video. If you want to persuade someone, create a paradigm shift, then we must first convince the elephant. czcams.com/video/24adApYh0yc/video.html
I mentioned about fun being part of evaluating to a psychiatrist before as I was trying to help that psychiatrist improve, behaviors improve and so on for our best behaving individuals of all time including our best behaving little children and such before and I said it's much better to evaluate and improve behaviors and so on with fun being part of the equation how I mean so yes it's certainly some healthy ways to improve behaviors is with fun in the equation. Lights on the stairs rather than sound could be awesome to some individuals think and music rather than alot of keys being hit and it not sound nice or such how some people mean. I think there's ideas not here in this post that can be amazing so nice work on trying to help improve behaviors how you do in some ways how I mean.

Hello
Nah great tune
Both rider rider🏇and elephant 🐘 need awareness of the other party
😢
Do not ever ride an elephant! By doing so, you are directly contributing to their suffering and exploitation. It is cruel and inhumane to support such practices. Show some compassion and respect for these magnificent creatures 😥

Fu*** music 😂
Music is too loud.
I like the melody of the background music! Where can it be located?
Zoloft is the tool to make the path easier.
Doesn't work for me any more. Life is good, I reached my letterbox & managed half of the width of my front yard. Okay I inside next to my man so am calm, however I walked those steps 🚶♂️ myself & the sky didn't fall or demons attack.
Guiding others & being community-conscious is really useful. But what do you do about the 20% of people who are so self-absorbed or in denial that they never even think of their own future, let alone the environment of others, and can't be bothered to recycle even if the waste packaging they've caused by buying it is collected from their own front door?
As the old and universal statistic goes, 20% of people are often responsible for 80% of the outcome. I think this elephant analogy is mostly apt for making change within oneself. There are very few people who can fully engage and inspire vast masses of people, just because we are sceptical, we do look for shortcuts, and we are all so very different.
You cannot and never will change others. Simply BE the change you wish to see in the world, then your world will change.
@@dennisbraun7031 that is inspiring. Reminds me of my marriage counsellor " you can't change him or anyone but yourself. If he is uncomfortable with this change he will change or he will leave" . We will be celebrating 48 years & are more in love ,& grateful.
