    Correction
    The first spray (disinfection) should be ran with the heater on, on its maximum temperature, and with recirculation turned off.
    The second spray (refresher) should be applied with the AC turned on, on its minimum temperature, and with recirculation turned on.
    Instructions:
    a) Park the car outside (where fresh air is abundant), and let the engine ran for around 10 minutes - before applying any spray - to warm up the engine, so that the maximum temperature is reached faster.
    b) Turn off the engine, and open every door and window.
    c) Remove the cabin filter (so that the disinfection spray reaches the evaporator, and the filter does not get moist from the disinfection spray that will be applied afterwards).
    d) Afterwards, apply the disinfection spray (usually in a foam form) on: your vents (push the whose as further as you can go, down the vent: driver, passenger, footwell, windshield, etc...) and directly on the condenser (usually, it is behind the cabin filter, or accessible through the bottom of the vehicle).
    e) Let it seat for 10 minutes (still all doors and windows opened);
    f) Turn on the engine, with the heater on, on its maximum temperature, and with recirculation turned off, for about 10 minutes;
    Your car ventilation shall be disinfected.
    Now, to the good smell.
    If you are not using a refresher, place a new cabin filter.
    Otherwise, proceed:
    g) Turn on your engine, close all windows, turn on the AC to its maximum speed, and turn recirculation on (still with no cabin filter);
    h) Place the refresher can inside your car (with not obstruction above it), and press the button hard, until it is locked and releasing the refresher;
    i) Get out of the vehicle, close every door and window, and let it ran until the refresher can stops releasing the refresher, and then let it seat for 5 more minutes;
    j) It is complete!
    Now, you shall open your windows, because the refresher smell may be too strong.
    Enjoy a disinfected and good smelling car interior again.

      Not only you are placing the foam into the vents, but also the electrical wires and components in modern cars (2010 onwards) are quite well protected.

    Good video, very helpful. Thank you! At 2:30 (before you popped the hood) you left out an important part. You need to turn AC to recirculate and run on high for several minutes. While this is happening you can also spray into the air intake on passenger side floor. After finished, THEN set AC to fresh air cycle and continue as shown.

    avoid all this by purging your a/c system after every use of your Air conditioner..Purge = leave fan on and turn a/c heater system onto vent and let it blow some before you exit the vehicle..This will dry the moisture inside the ducts... eliminating the possibility of mold and mildue growth.. Therefore no smell...

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 5 lety +9

      hi. that is what I did. but is better if you remove the cabin air filter (if your car has one). otherwise, a part of the spray remains on the filter, instead of cleaning the evaporator. and if the filter gets wet, the dust will stick on the filter, clogging it. you will need to replace the cabin air filter much sooner. in the Romanian version of this tutorial I showed another, more efficient, way to clean the evaporator. please watch the second part of that video. that is much more efficient, than spraying AC cleaner on the plastic grill outside the car. the spray needs to reach the bacteria on the evaporator, not stick to the air filter. this is the air filter's job, to stop impurities coming from outside the car. the cabin air filter will stop most of the AC cleaner.

    Why did you put the dirty cabin filter back in ?

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 6 lety +8

      because it was only a few thousand km old. the cabin air filter should be replaced every 10.000 - 15.000 km. but it's clogging very rapidly. in this interval I take it out once or twice to clean it a bit. otherwise you drive 15k km with leafs and bugs on it. this is useful for the air filters in which the air direction is downwards (because the impurities sit on the filter), not upwards (where the impurities fall from the filter). you can replace it every 5k km if you want, because is getting very dirty. but I prefer to buy good quality carbon activated cabin filters and clean it a few times before it reaches the changing interval.

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 7 lety

      salut. depinde de filtru. daca e simplu (alb) ar trebui sa il schimbi la 10 000 km sau un an. daca e cu carbon activ (gri) e mai bun, se poate schimba la 20 000 km sau 2 ani. dar eu din 6 in 6 luni il scot si il scutur. se imbacseste foarte usor cu praf/fulgi/frunze/insecte...
      acest lucru e necesar, deoarece la aceste masini (seat leon 1m, toledo 2, golf 4, bora, skoda octavia 1) aerul care intra in cabina, trece prin filtru de sus in jos si mizeria ramane PE filtru. in comparatie cu alte masini, sau cu filtrul de aer de motor, prin care aerul intra de jos in sus, iar in felul acesta filtrul se scutura singur in timp de mizerie.
      poti sa il scuturi sau sa il schimbi, depinde de cand si de care filtru ai.

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 6 lety +1

      hi. I don't know if it works. it needs to have some detergent to kill the bacteria, then it needs to evaporate, not remain on the evaporator. otherwise fine dust will stick to the evaporator and clog it.

    • @486hfaisal
      @486hfaisal Před 5 lety

      Car carpet cleaner is not recommended for AC vent cleaning. The chemical are not designed for direct contact with plastics. So in my point of view the fumes generated by carpet cleaner may crack the plastic over a period of time if the checmical is not cleaned thoroughly.

    Hey man, why should i have the lowest temperature setting when cleaning the evaportor?

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 6 lety +1

      hi. because you need all the air (with the cleaner solution) going through the evaporator. if you rise the temperature, a part of the air is directed to the cabin heater radiator. at the max temperature setting all the air is directed through the heater, so the cleaner will not touch the evaporator.
      so you need to set the coldest temp (lowest temp).

    • @movieknight440
      @movieknight440 Před 6 lety

      oh okey, my sprays instructions tells me to dry the evaporator before
      cleaning so it cleans better by switching to circulatation mode, turn
      the temperature dial over to max, turn the air distribution to the
      footwell, turn blower speed selector to maximum let the vehicle idle
      under these conditions for some minutes, but if the temperature dial is
      to max do you think it will dry out the evaporator or just the heater?

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 6 lety +3

      if you turn the temperature dial to max, you will get warm air through the vents. so the air is going through the heater radiator, not the AC evaporator. I don't know why it says that on your spray can. but if it's a AC/evaporator cleaner spray, you need to set the lowest temp setting.

    Trebuie avut grija cu metoda 2, ca acel spray sa nu dea pe bord. Eu am patit-o si mi s-a albit putin usa de la torpedou.

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 7 lety +2

      salut. teoretic nu ar trebui sa pateze, dar e posibil... unele sprayuri vin cu un suport de carton, care permit sa asezi spray-ul inclinat, sa bata sub torpedou. iar in clip se vede ca am oprit aerul, sa nu bata spre parbriz. l-am directionat in centru si in jos.

      salut. nu imi dau seama exact cum e blocat. din partea dreapta ai incercat sa il fortezi? sa te uiti cu o lanterna din lateral. poate se vede cum e blocat inauntru. sa incerci cu o surubelnita lunga sa il deblochezi. ar trebui sa fie doar un carlig care tine torpedoul inchis.

    • @alinzepciuc9254
      @alinzepciuc9254 Před 7 lety

      nu el a iesit in afara si mam uitat dar are ceva de fier .cred ca o iesit din locasul lui chiar nu stiu dar el se anchidea greu dinainte ca am impresia ca nu prindea bine cuiul.dar mia iesit afara in partea stanga si sta asa intro parte.si clar ca nu mai pot sal deschid.mie sa nu rup ceva pe acolo.

    • @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd
      @Sorin_DIY_Mechanical_Nerd  Před 7 lety

      sus e o clema in forma de U din metal. iar in spatele butonului e un carlig de plastic. probabil astea au ramas blocate. torpedoul nu ai cum sa il dai jos, pentru ca se desface din interior. numai sa fortezi cumva prin buton, sau printr-o margine a torpedoului, daca iti permite. sa deblochezi carligul de acea clema. altfel nu cred ca ai cum.
      exista si posibilitatea sa nu poti sa il desfaci, fara sa rupi ceva pe acolo.. in cel mai rau caz iei altul din dezmembrari..
