@@laraschauble The whole stage backdrop was a wall of keyboards stacked in a row so the audience could see them - 28 of them in all. Geoff Downes would go to different places of the huge rig to play different songs during the show. Indeed, this set up had him with his back to the audience for most of the show, but he came down front to play a strap on keytar for the encore.
Their best tour with their very best lineup. That being said, Greg Lake was an amazing “fill in” with short notice for the big show on MTV. I was in full panic mode at 12 years old when I heard that Wetton left. This lineup was becoming bon of my favorite bands at the time. All stars from all of my favor bands growing up.
Most definitely before Greg Lake joined. After the Asia In Asia concert, I don't think they the original lineup played together in concert until whenever it was they did the initial reunion tour, in 2006 or 2007, I think.
Yes. This is the Alpha tour. Late summer 1983 I believe. MTV Asia in Asia was Dec. 6 1983. JW was fired shortly after this US tour. Rumor was alcohol issue with JW. SH threatened to leave. So mgmt. fired him. Then the GL experiment. Which was an absolute train wreck.
'83, I was a regular MTV devotee and heard nothing of Greg Lake joining ASIA. I know about the Japan Date - ASIA in ASIA. Had it recorded and put on Reel to Reel - GREAT SHOW \\\mm///
I was there. Howe was a show stealer, full of energy and moving all over the stage,
Is it me? Or is the keyboardist facing the wall on the upper level?🤔 I would think they would have set up the equipment so he could face the crowds..🤔

When an artist or band from the 80s performs live, they do it better than in the recording studio

Never got Downes playing with his back to the audience like that
I noticed that too, kinda odd...
当時のoriginal4のケミストリーと人気がよく解る貴重な映像だと思いました。
事態は深刻だがこれを聞いて元気になろう
was that the reason or a reason why we got a 2/3 ELP reunion in asia instead of "Asia in Asia"?
Carl, Howe came to Japan as a YES on 1972.
Wow! Is This Whole concert posted anywhere? Or is Only in Clips ?
Messed up the lyrics on verse 2. Anyone else notice?
Yeah, Wetton usually did this.
that's John for you
that’s perfect, who cares?
ヤッパリ アジア ありがとう! アメリカ ヨーロッパ♥️

Awful show. Lake couldn't cut the songs, on vocals. Instrumental parts were great, though.
