There songs were on top 10 charts for weeks and in Canada also
Definitely
Without a doubt. Supposedly they aren't because they didn't write most of their own music. They did write some however, and more importantly brought attention to many emerging songwriters like Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman. They also made a song their own when they recorded it (check out other versions of "Mama Told Me Not To Come", to see what I mean). And keep in mind Elvis, who is (deservedly) in many Halls of Fame NEVER WROTE A SINGLE SONG. Not one. So I call bullshit on that excuse for not including 3DN in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They helped define an era FFS.
Absolutely
YES!
Good Lord I miss this decade.
I grew up in the 80s and caught the tail end of the golden age of music. Yeah 70s by far was the best decade. All the greats of the 60s were at their peaks during that time.
I agree with you 100 percent. ❤
Agree 100%❤❤❤
me too. it flew by.
Me too! The great music. Where did it go? ❤
i Am 81 and still rockin with 3 dog night
I'm 78 and rock hard still!
61 and still👍
Me too!
Me too! ❤
72 here 😊❤
When young people still had music to listen to.
One of the greatest bands ever
Not this band. Jimmy Greenspoon the only one from the band. Their original band ROCKED the house! Captured Live is one of my all time favorite Live albums!! They took great singles and rocked them to death!!
I heard someone say Cory Wells was at the top of his game, here! I’m here to bear personal witness that Cory Wells was on the top of his game every day of his life!...in this, and every band he was in, and also in his solo career! And Danny and Chuck were also at the top of their game here. No better band than this, except maybe the Beatles, ever! Never will be again! These 3 talented men were all fabulous!♥️♥️♥️
The best selling band from 1967 through 1975
I was just informed that their current tour (2023) sucks
@@tobybeau2112 Cory has passed and Chuck is no longer in TDN so that leaves TDN as Danny and new singers. Some of the band like Floyd has passed. Not the same band
@@tobybeau2112- Yeah, well without Chuck Negron, it would suck. He sang the majority of hits, along with Cory Wells. Danny Hutton didn’t sing any full songs himself…. Until Chuck wasn’t invited back in the band (before Cory died).

What a great time to grow up.....this is a great tribute to great music and awesome stage performers. RIP Cory. Chuck Negron had a great voice!
I personally think Chuck had the best and most varied voice of the three. More vocal range and just greT.
@@williamtruett2813I once heard CN, say that Cory had the most diverse, that he could sing anything. Of course, CN had an epic voice
I Grew up in The 70s! 80s! 90s! It’s Been INTERESTING!🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍😍😬😬🤞🏼🤞🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This was my first album, was 9 years/o ,in 1973 ,still in my favorites!!!!! I’m now 60 and still love the harmonies!!!!!!
I’m 60 also…my mom loved this band ,played there records all the time.Good Times!
One of the greatest vocal rock groups to ever hit the live stage!
ROCK??
I'd say no as far as rock. Talented but about the gayest looking guys you could find. The one guy with black hair no mustache is obnoxious.
I was in the 8th grade in 1971. Had to take a music class, I am not musically, inclined. The music teacher said we had to get up in front of the class and sing a song. I loved Three Dog Night. I saved my money, went to People’s drug and bought their album and I sang Joy to the World. I think I did ok.
Cool story! Thank you.
I'd have dropped out of school at that point
Did you live in Virginia?
Remember Memco ?
@@scottmccullough4267I did. Graduated in 76 from Stuart
Big fan of TDN. Cory was my favorite, his voice had so much soul in it. I was so sad when I learned he had passed. I'm so glad to have lived in the time when they were at the peak of their success.
I...... studied ... Chuck Negron's ¡!!!.... &..... Cory Well's!!!!... vocal close!!!!
..LoOooooved singing!!!... One.... , Joy to the world...&.... I've Never been to Spain..( Live version).....😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊💜💜🩵💙💚💛🧡🧡💛🎶🎶🎵🎵🎼🎵🎶🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤 2:56
Got to see them live, 70 or 71 in San Diego Sports Arena. One of the best concerts I've experienced to this day. Definitely one of favorite groups ever. Vocals don't get any better.
Ahh, the Sports Arena. The good o'l days when you could drink at the beach, and camp at Fiesta Island!!
What a rocking soulful performance by Corey on Try a Little Tenderness!
What a beautiful band. There will never be another group like this.
These guys were so talented! I remember hearing these songs on the radio as a kid, but I had no idea who was singing them. Boy were the seventies a great time to be a kid!
I was in high school hool in 1971. The 70s had some of the best music and still playing .❤❤
Agree 💯 👍
I loved so many of their songs, but didn't realize until I was older that they were all the same band.
And yes, the 70s was the end of good times to grow up. Helicopter parenting, rules, laws, regulations, fear, militarization of law enforcement, outlawing anything not idiot-proof, curfews, etc.. have made growing up less of an adventure, and more like regimented danger-avoidance..
The harmony is beautiful and just think, these 3 young men never had any earphones in to listen to themselves, just the talent to blend their voices in sweet, sweet harmony. I still listen to my albums from the 80's....
Umm, they have stage monitors. You need to hear your voice and the others to sing in key and harmonize. Yes they had talent and were good. They still had to hear though it was not through earpieces.
Glad you lisren to your 80's albums. Three Dog Night" began in the late 60's and was really a 70's act. FYI.
Cory Wells was so good. Great singer and such a polished entertainer. He always looked so comfortable and that he so enjoyed what he was doing.
I just watched an interview with Cory Wells from 2011. He said they put a halt to the band in 1975 because Danny and Chuck had fallen off the deep end due to drugs. This is probably one of the last concerts they did before that happened. How crazy that Cory was always the one that lead such a clean life and never did drugs, but then he was the first to go. 🫤 What a singer he was! He was always one of my favorites growing up. I loved to harmonize with him in the car. 😏
Fame and fortune can certainly cause people to live in excess.
Harmonize with any of them. They were very on their game here and this is a learning experience for someone wanting to learn.
This,is how it's done!
Cory was just a good man and had his priorities firmly in place. Will always miss him but am so glad he left us his music.
They were sooo perfect! Talented singers, performers! They Just had a sound so recognizable. Everyone in their band was just perfect! Beautiful men, beautiful personalities, beautiful voices. I especially miss angel Cory. I’m so sure he went to Shambala♥️💋
Cory was magnificent!!
the boy had soul
My two favorites Three dog night and grassroots they were all the best Long live the '70s
Totally agree
I'm sure the majority of people don't realize they don't have monitors. This means they can't quite hear what the others are singing. They are able to hear what's being played on the house speakers for the audience. This doesn't sound like a big deal but it is. To achieve the harmonies they do you must have perfect pitch and confidence in yourself and the other guys. This wasn't unusual for the time but what is, is the level of achievement they hit. Just a phenomenal band.
Absolutely Right!! They hit all the Right notes n harmonies when I saw them in 75.phenominal😁👏👏👏👏👏👏
Anyone notice who is filling in for their regular guitar player? Jeff Beck!!
Brother you're absolutely right about what you said
No, not Jeff Beck@@anthonyboccitto991
@@anthonyboccitto991I assume that is a weak attempt at humor. That is Al Ciner on guitar.
For a band that didn't write their own songs, not only did they choose great songs to record, but the arrangements were perfect, the result is music that 40 to 50 yrs later still stands the test of time.
Agreed. The only song they recorded that didn't surpass the original is Harry Nilsson's "One". I think his version is equally as good as TDN's.
They did write some of their own music, but they made whatever they sang their own 👍
Can anyone imagine 3 lead singers in a band today without egos getting in the way?
Salivate, salivate, drool to the music! Love this band!!!
Ha! Good one.
I hear ya! 3 beautiful men!!
I was absolutely in love with these guys especially Cory. When I was in 5th or 6th grade my dad took me and my friend to Madison Square Garden to see TDN. We had floor seats!! Watching this concert brings back such great childhood memories. Still have all their albums.
I was at this concert. Red shirt. Front row, stage right. I was 14. It was very cool then. Still very cool today.
Is that you in the red shirt @ 15:15?
Yes
Lucky dawg ! ! ! ! lol ,, awesome band ... 70's was a fantastic learning experience., all the different gear developments, production, cheap seats ! Thank you three dog night .. awesome ..
Never watched their live performance before, WOW. These guys can sing their asses off.
Many thanks it’s the middle of January 2024 classic Three Dog Night and it’s finest. Thanks for the upload. My good friend let’s see I’m 67 years old. Still grooving into these boys. They were great saw Them a whole bunch of times they were really good ! thank you for the upload !!😂❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶😍
Great band
Chuck had a voice
First time I heard family of man live
Seventy years old had a couple of. Their records
These guys can do no wrong. Dead on the money harmony from the front three and perfect performances from the musicians in the band: Michael, Floyd, Joe and Jimmy. Hit after hit...absolute perfection! These guys were HUGE. I grew up listening to them and was fortunate enough to attend one of their concerts with the original lineup. Thank you for posting this video...a lot of GREAT memories.
While your assessment of the musicians in the band is spot on, this is a somewhat later version of the band. Jimmy Greenspoon is still in the group (in '75), but Joe Schermie and Floyd Sneed are already gone. Michael Allsup is gone at this point, but he does return later. There's also a second keyboardist in this lineup, Skip Konte. The guitarist in this video is probably James Smith, but could also possibly be Al Ciner, depending on when in '75 it was filmed. The bassist was probably Jack Ryland, but also could have been Dennis Belfield, again depending on the timing. The drummer in this video is Mickey McMeel.
Thanks for the info! I greatly appreciate your knowledge on the personnel in the band.
@@davenamanda Oh, you're welcome!
Three Dog Night should have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago. It's a disgrace that they induct rappers but leave great bands like Three Dog Night out. Another band Bread should have also been inducted.
agree whole heartedly. best music ever.
As I posted on another comment:
Without a doubt. Supposedly, they aren't in the R&R Hall of Fame because they didn't write most of their own music. They did, however, write some, and more importantly, brought attention to many emerging songwriters like Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman. They also made a song their own when they recorded it (check out other versions of "Mama Told Me Not To Come", to see what I mean). Instead they induct that real rock and roller - Willie Nelson! :0(
Willie Nelson deserved it, bit so does TDN!
The naysayers use the "but they didn't write their own music" approach which is crap because most of the Motown acts in the R&R HOF didn't write their own music or play instruments either but because they were in 60s and supposedly "cool" they get inducted. The HOF definitely favors the 60's over the 70's and 80's for popular music artists. At least with the fan vote we are seeing some more acts inducted that should have been in a long time ago.
One is the loneliest number....dedicated to my son, Ryan. Lost to addiction a year ago. Love you...never forgotten!! Ryan P Frye @virtual memorials
so sorry for your loss i understand addiction
May your heart be healed one day. 😢
I’m sorry 😢❤
Note how courteous the audience is. Sat and listened to the best vocal band ever.
Probably because the performance was for the PBS TV show Soundstage. There's one of their concerts on CZcams from 1969, I think, that shows the audience up on their feet.
It’s Chicago. Midwestern manners and sensibilities. They were there to see the show, not be the show.
As a kid I think this was my favorite band. I discovered them around 1972 or so and I was hooked. Great memories.
I am 72 years old and saw them several times. Best concerts I'd ever been to in my life. I, myself was a drummer in rock n' roll bands, even in Southern Gospel groups. I used to put my headphones on and play my drums along with Three Dog Night. I still enjoy their music and harmony. Sorry that we have lost some of those guys. They were the greatest band ever. Better than the Beatles in my opinion. They belong in the RnR Hall of Fame!
Out in the country is my favorite song by 3 Dog,, them and America were great at harmonizing. Aloha
Me too ❤
Discovered this band when I was 10 in ‘72. They were my first favorite band and set the tone for me as far as music is concerned. Great great band.
Just take a look and a listen to the talent up on that stage. No pyro, no fancy lights, no computer tracks, etc. Put guitars in the right hands and this is what you get......a great concert. .
But holy shit ... none of us could dance back then.
Chuck just blisters on those high notes.
such great music to have grown up with. could listen to them endlessly!! RIP Corey...........so glad that Chuck has survived it all. Wish he and Danny can mend and continue to bring the music to us Til the World Ends!
whats the deal with Chicago?
evelyn mayberry Chicago Music
That'll never happen. Once the band started performing, it appeared Danny was jealous of Chuck's success and popularity.
This is just so extremely cool. Man I’m glad I was in high school during this era. Some of the greatest music ever made came out of the 60s and 70s.
Always love the Hammond B3 in most of the songs. late 60's and 70's were the best
+KEITH C Couldn't agree with you more about the Hammond B3 sound.....
+KEITH C Yeah, after that period, it all started to go down hill. Including 3DN. Same thing happened with Chicago.
All 3 had terrific voices!
drums, bass, electric guitar, piano, synthesizer, harmony vocals, no overdubs, no autotune ^^
50年も前になります。武道館のコンサートに行きました。ボーカルの三人、かっこよかったです!!!
ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME !!!!!!! THREE DOG NIGHT. !!!!!!!
Three of the greatest singers EVER!
So young then. And they absofknlutely rocked! Thank you so much. I may be old now,but their music never will be.
One of the best captures of this amazing band. So grateful I had the opportunity to witness them live in the early 80s. They were an unstoppable force and grace.
Wow, I forgot how much I liked these guys, and what great live performers they are here! I wish I had seen them in concert.
I saw TDN with Cory and Danny at the Republican National Convention in Houston in '92. They brought me to tears with their great performance and afterwards I got on stage and Danny signed a program I had. I still have it.
At the RNC? That's disappointing.
Glad to see they were Republicans way back then. Very smart musicians. God bless America
@@Redwhiteblue-gr5emIt was a gig!
Where was Chuck? Is he a democrat? lol
Smart & talented!!!!
I miss the 70's.
I've had the privilege of seeing them about maybe 6 times. They just are spectacular!
Love that you can see who sings what parts of the songs. And who’s lead singer on certain songs. The three really harmonized well together. Travesty that they are not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
Cory on Shambala: perfection!
What would i give to go back to one weekend in 1970!!!! What great times they were!!!! You just had to be there. Incredible.
My first concert was these guys in the old Assembly Ctr. In Tulsa! It’s still the best concert I have ever been to!Every seat was taken with the floor seats also! I’ll never forget them
I was there also. Yes, indeed, it was sold out. I still remember the air was full of excitement and magic. Your comments are well said. The concert was timeless, sublime and a perfect example of Classic Rock. A wonderful, happy memory I’ll never forget either. Pure unadulterated talent of Three Dog Night. Thank you for posting this MyyyTunes. ❤❤❤❤ 🎸🎶
Chuck Negron was INCREDIBLE!!!
ABSOLUTELY incredible!! Those HIGH notes..Love to hear them all sing..❤
Yes he was marvelous but I think Cory was #1
@@davidwelsh5206
Loved Cory too.
To bad as Neil sang I’ve seen the needle and the damage done
Three Dog Night-One of the very best bands ever! Such unique, soulful voices that blended in perfect harmony. There will never be another group like them-talented, genuine. And gee, no earphones, no auto-tune (which only makes a bad singer sound worse). I thank God that I lived through the best musical era ever: 45s, 33 1/3 rpms, and awesome album art, but oooohhhh, the music!❤️
Probably the BEST LIVE Version of ONE you'll ever hear!!
There is nothing Chuck Negron can't sing! This is the song that started it all for Three Dog Night! Pure magic!
Incredible vocals and harmonies...really enjoying this upload! Don't understand why they aren't in the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame...too late now.
Chuck Negron provided great vocal fills, it's very evident on Eli's Coming and Celebrate, and he was in the zone this performance. Dude was on fire. I wish I could've been there. Long live 3DN. Thanks for posting!
The best! R.I.P. Cory.👏👏👏👏
Story about Chuck Negron's addiction is great read. Three Dog Nightmare. After 37 rehabs, he went to a cold turkey rehab place and within hours prayed for God to cure him or kill him. Went to sleep for nearly two days and realized he was cured when he awoke.
Amen😊
30, not 37.
3 of the greatest vocalists in rock music!
This is an absolute masterpiece and triumph of mid 70s live production. From the singers and band performing with pretty much no monitors, to the complexity of what the keyboard player is adding to the sound using what must be some kind of mellotron, this is mind blowing.
These guys were always at the top of their game! They had great talent, individually and as a group. Loved them then, love them now, even though we are all 70 years plus!! Hope to see them in GA. In October, 2024. Great group!
Amazing harmony!!!
Saw these guys four times in the mid seventies.Great!
The best of seventied
Better than Otis that is saying something
Try a little tenderness
April my brother and sister born on the same day in April I miss them but 😅it is a morning in May
Was always a big Jimmy Greenspoon fan.... It was sad to hear of his passing from cancer this past March at 67.... R.I.P. Jimmy....
You should read his autobiography. It's really interesting, for the most part.
I have wonderful memories of each of there songs..
Jimmy Greenspoon was fantastic on keyboards 🎹.Very underrated member of the group!
you see how good they look here in 75 and sound I saw them in 69 think about that they were fantastic my first concert right up by the stage just like this!!! Cory Chuck and Danny are all just as great as the other each has his style
there are just no words to describe the feeling...
Thank you for posting an AWESOME concert from an AWESOME band in a better time. Love it!
I had a band in high school and we did plenty of 3 Dog Night . Their version of A Change Is Gonna Come was amazing. Cory Wells, what a voice.
I am 71 and still love them .
Besides being so good looking, Chucks voice is just about perfect. It’s a shame he let those factors along with the drugs really ruin him . I loved Three Dog Night ! All three so talented in their own right. They are old men now ( RIP Corey) . I think it would be wonderful to hear Dan and Chuck do another song together before it’s to late.
Chuck Negron lead singer ONE -EASY TO BE HARD- JOY TO THE WORLD, just to name a few. One of the best vocals ever! Three Dog Night harmony better than ever!
Love all their Music. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵♥️
Absolutely mind blowing band. Never have the peace and harmony of that era again. Thanks for the upload.
The songs of my high school years. To have a time machine. Oh, this is my time machine.
In 1970, I was 8. I asked my dad to buy me the 45 of TDN Celebrate. He bought Rare Earths' I Just Wanna Celebrate. Thanks dad!!
Hahaha, that is hilarious. My band never did anything from the Dog, but I sing it at karaoke, and it is so much fun.
E for effort for dear dad 😅.
At least he tried!
I signed the petition, but listening again to some of these I haven't heard for years, seems to me they were a little before their time, musically. This reminds me concerts I went to in the late 70s and early 80s. Such soul, such feeling...will always love these guys. So sorry we've lost so many of them. I hope they make it to the H of F before we lose any more. And yes, such hot boys lol - that didn't hurt either
Soooo- much talent. Sooo soulful.
Cory Wells was the best....Ever!!!❤️
He was up there with the best. All these guys could sing like few could.
Eli's Coming - you go CORY! Oh get it on Chuck. I see that snicker for me! i saw them for the first time in Philadelphia and did things that I thought would never do. Just let me tell you I did not make it home after the concert!😁
Back in the day, like 1972, I talked with several musicians that worked with 3 Dog Night and they all said that Cory was the main force behind them. They were all lead singers, however, Cory was the main man....Plus, he was a terrific guy...and didn't have a big head.. So much talent, and he continued to improve, year after year...Any how, just saying, from a still kicking drummer...........
They had some hits ! "Joy to World, All the boys & girls" was a pop anthem. I still remember the lyrics.
When I listen to TDN I feel young again in my teenage days. Oh good fun. Mahalo and Aloha.
Love how Danny sings the line “Just an old song” in the second part of the song. Seems like he’s channeling his inner Al Jolson.
Old Fashioned Love Song...written by singer/songwriter Paul Williams. STILL one of my fave 3DNite songs. Such a great song!!
Cory and Chuck hitting that high note together in Shambala at 9:52 gets me every time! 😍
So glad I saw them in the early ‘80s.
This was great! Wish I could have seen them back then.
So good. So very, very good. And hope Cory Wells went to Heaven, my favorite of the 3.🦮🐕🐕🦺
Chuck's One was intense and "doing the Dog" was on par with all the early concerts the did! Nice to now have this!
Love these guys! They are actually older than I am! Hope to see them in GA. in 2024.
No matter whatever in destiny brings, forever the three will be bonded! CORY
Went to one of their shows...enjoyed every minute of it. Their voices blended so well....money and time well spent.
Need to be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
