      When you start, you don't have to do any of the DLC - the base game is good enough and a LOT of content. You'll slowly get used to everything. The wiki is also there for you to help: elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/New+Player+Help

      @@Fextralife I agree... And by the time you get through the base game content, Elsweyr will be rolled into the base game... and by the time you get through the base game + Elsweyr, another chapter will have dropped, so Greymoor will be rolled-in... ZOS has done a pretty good job of following their release schedule, which they posted on their site, somewhere and now has moved, and I have no desire to go look for it...

    to be honest with you guys after reading the comments. It may seem overwhelming at first but it is not really that, dont take it all in at once as some people will have the tendency to explore and conquer the land of Tamriel, as a player that has been playing the game for 2 weeks now I am not that overwhelmed about the game anymore. The game has a great community and are F*cking friendly as fkkkk. Veteran players will actually go out of their way to give you pointers and actually help out your gameplay or simply craft you Gears that you didnt even asked for but to help you out and experience the game in its entirety. Story is great, graphics are like your beloved skyrim and lots and lots of content that you'll never be bored with the game. So is this game worth it? YES yes it is ma dudes

    I have bought everything separately from the beginning and I will continue to do so as I don't like subscription services. Also I tend to go off and play other games then come back to play ESO after several months hiatus.
    If your just getting into the game now I would advise the subscription service if you want to gain access to most of the games content. Their are a few expansions you have to buy separately but for the most part you will have most of the content, unlimited storage for crafting materials and some crowns (in game currency) each month to spend in the store. Details: www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/esoplus
    This game is so big now you will have to have a lot of time on your hands to play through it all.

    Advice from a former ESO player - don't burn yourself out. I got the game when Summerset got released, and I played for about a month straight. I really enjoyed the PvE dungeons and Trials you can do with other players, and the system is well designed in that even though you can queue up as a 'Healer/DPS/Tank', classes are versatile enough that you don't need a dedicated class (though it helps immensely if you have a Healing focused player).
    That said, I burnt myself out. I ended up just doing Dungeon after Dungeon, ignoring most of the normal questlines, so that when I did try to do the quests, they felt very boring compared to the unique dungeon enemies.
    Also, the Psijic Skill Tree is such a let down. I thought it was going to be some really cool time manipulation magic, but most of the skills are useless or require a very dedicated build.
    So, in closing - it's definitely enjoyable and the PvE is wildly fun and sometimes quite challenging. But you can get bored quite easily if you invest too much time.

      @Colouh Před 4 lety +2

      Same happened to me, was playing 24/7 from the start of quarantine, got 3 chars to 50 and CP 420. Played vet dungeons and trials, got the BiS sets in a week, transmute them with the clockwork dlc to the best traits, and that's it nothing else to do. Best quality gear is by crafting and I only get the sets on epic quality, bought the materials and now I have the best items in game and nothing else to do. I really hate questing and I don't care at all of the lore (I even don't know after 1 month+ who the fuck the daedra are). I thought it was going to be wow substitute but content is consumed really easy. Also as a vet wow player, dungeon mechanics and even the hardest difficulties are a walk in a park compared to heroic or mythic wow raids and dungeons.

      @Fextralife  Před 3 lety

      The "base" game is buy to play. This means for usd 10-20 you get all the content released up to 2014, plus the Morrowind expansion. Then, if you pay a fee 6-15 usd per month (price varies per platform), you get to access all DLC so long and you are subscribed, plus some special benefits such as "crowns" to buy cosmetics and such from the online store, unlimited storage space for your crafting materials, etc. DLC can be also be purchased from the crown store.

      have to agree with you, clockwork only good point is transmutation and wasn't even mentioned, and i find hilarious how they gave Dungeon DLCs 8/10 and 9/10 while giving Imperial City DLC 7/10.. i mean.. imperial city adds a massive land to explore AND 2 dungeons, is way better than any dungeon DLC by that fact alone, Elsweyr is tiny compared to any other zone, they added a huge chasm on the middle of it to make it feel bigger than it actually is, there's no point in getting Dragonhold other than the New Moon Acolyte set. i do agree with Orsinium 10/10 though. but Morrowind i would give a 6/10, Elsweyr 5/10, Summerset 8/10 for the Jewelcrafting and Trial, Clockwork 5/10 (only good for transmutation) Murkmire 4/10, DB and Thieves solid 6/10 bcuz (bcuz i compare every zone DLC to orsinium, so they all lack a lot), as for dungeon DLCs.. i wouldn't even consider them DLCs, some are good.. but after doing the dungeon a couple times to get the monster set, i will never set foot there again, Dragonhold.. 3/10 very lacking and only has New Moon Acolyte that is worth, even greymoor i would give a 5/10 and that''s purely out of nostalgia, the zone adds nothing, the trial adds nothing, i only enjoy it only because the Skyrim zone was incredibly well made.

    This is so complicated. What's the benefits of buying DLCs vs just paying for ESO+(plus)?
    Do I need to buy the DLCs on top of paying a monthly sub or does paying a monthly fee unlock those DLCs? If paying for the DLCs outright, does that mean I DON'T have to pay monthly (tho 200$ for everything is a bit....much)

    • @benitojuanjuarez2438
      @benitojuanjuarez2438 Před 3 lety

      Jayme you don't have to pay a monthly sub to play this game. ESO plus allows you to have access to the DLC content and gives you some other features. If you own the game you can play it without any other costs. In the base game alone there are over 15 main zones plus a bunch of smaller ones and also the entire PVP map. On top of that Imperial city is now just free in general. You can easily put over 100 hours into the main story which is only 5 of the first 15 zones. This game is huge and incredibly well done. You should crack that plastic and get lost in the Elder Scrolls. It is worth it.

    Your rating system is too generous. I agree that Orsinium, Morrowind and Summerset are a 10. But if they are 10, then most of the dungeon-only DLCs are at best 6.0. In fact, I find many of the new dungeons kinda tedious. They are generally overly long, notably Shadows of the Hist and Horns of the Reach, and they are brutally unforgiving for new players - expect to fail often, or get kicked from groups.
    Personally, I think the DLCs have generally got weaker over time. Elsweyr is an 8, and without the necromancer it would be a 6. And Greymoor was not out when this video was done. Greymoor is definitely the worst of the chapters, maybe a 4 on this scale.

    I have to admit I'm overwhelmed by this game! This is good and bad in some ways. As a WoW veteran, I can only dream of BLIZZ creating such a content-rich game ... in which you can simply "be". Enjoy the universe and learn different stories in the far corners of the continent. I would only change or add two things. 1) First of all, I miss the option to be "hand-guided" through the history and covering the available quests not related to the topic chosen by me. Currently, I have no idea what is going on in my story. I have a million quests from places I didn't even want to be ... I don't even know what the correct order of the story is, or what this game is trying to tell me. In my opinion, how specific DLCs start is not clear. 2) The second problem is the fight. This game has too many character creation possibilities to be limited to 2x6 skills. I think the situational skill bar is missing. Skills that are used very rarely, but in specific situations.

    I love the game but some dlc seems a bit overrated. Especially some of the dungeon ones and I don't think it is good to put dungeon and zone dlc on the same list.
    Zone dlc should be rate on zone size, story length, challenge it provide, quality of skill line the zone provide. Which make dragon hold should be rated lower bec it got no skillliine or new arena or trial to do.
    While dungeon rate on sets viability, fresh new mechanic, achievement reward, Replayiablity and bonus point sfor hidden boss. Which make some new dungeon like LOM that don't give good reward for beating no death speed run hm lower in rating.

    • @Fextralife
      @Fextralife  Před 4 lety +1

      It's difficult to rate things because it really depends on what you're after. Some people are into the lore and stories, others only want the sets, others only care if the dungeon is challenging and has a unique skin. These are my scores as a "balanced" player - I do all the content from hardcore to pvp to story questing and crafting, so I have found enjoyment in each DLC in a unique way. But of course, other people may have different preferences and priorities :)
