    You're what we call a board-level technician. Nothing wrong with that, but it would have been worth your time to bring that simple power supply to the component level. Something made that resistor get hot, you could do it.
    * Regardless, I came here to find out how you fished the main board out. I got so much more, because of your complete disassembly. Thanks man, kudos.

    The real solution is to replace two capacitors on that power supply on the power output side which go bad. I am currently dealing with this very issue and found a reddit thread of several people also with the same issue and one person finally realize it was just those two capacitors on it which is the same conclusion I came to when I noticed the bulging capacitors after a few hours of troubleshooting and pulling apart the volume pot to clean it and resoldering connections only for nothing to work. It's a lot easier and cheaper then just tossing the whole power supply and replacing it. I'm currently waiting for replacements I ordered which is a set of 5 so if I have this issue in the future I will have some spares on hand.

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  Před 22 dny

      I check the caps on mines and all were fine. I just reach a point where I weight the time taken to find and fix the bad components or spend just replace it with something I already had lying around. I went with the lather. Sorry that you reached the same place 🤣

    Hey bud, great video! I happen to have the same speakers, and with the same exact problem. Even have an old laptop power supply I can use. Just a quick question to clarify, you skipped really fast on the wiring and connecting the wires from that laptop power supply to the DC wire that connects to the board of the speakers. Any chance you can explain a bit further how you did that exactly? Would be greatly appreciated.

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey no problem man. Sorry It was too fast. Not sure if you have a multimeter. But make sure the laptop powersupply is around 15v to 19v. I cut out the end from the laptop charger. This is the side that would have gone into the computer. On the AC to DC supply on the speakers. The little circuit board I threw. There should be a red and back wire that plugs into the main amplifier board. I cut that wire and spliced the red (positive) to the positive of the laptop charger. And the negative(black) to the negative of the laptop supply. Use a multimeter to make sure which one is positive and negative because laptop chargers vary the voltages. I put some heat shrink also before I did the splice and added solder after to finish it off. Then I pushed it Through the hole that the original AC plug would have gone thru. Tied a knot so it doesn’t pull out and fill it with glue stick. The I plug in that to the amplifier board and you should be set.

    Watching this video cause I have a 7 year old Logitech Z506 which i bought from supertech in puna for $550 and still works perfectly. And I recently saw on amazon for this same brand goes for $264.64usd 🤣and the Logitech Z906 for $399.00 . So I have a damn expensive system in 2022. So I was just looking around to see what is the type of issues can occur and how to prevent them.

      Yea these speakers don’t do directional processing so what ever Input you put in would be equally play the output (L and R)

    Hello. How many volts and how many amps does the adapter in it use? What power supply did you use? What value did you use?

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  Před 2 lety +1

      I not sure what the Original one was, I believe it could be 13-15v 4A around there, the one I replaced it with was a ~19v 5A hp laptop charger. Anything around the should work

    Hello! Bro, my master speaker from my Z506 is "broken" according to the technician. He told me that I need to buy the master speaker, BUT that is not in amazon or any other website for me to purchase, or is it? Can the cable be fixed? Please answer. Greetings from Panama!

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  Před 2 lety

      Hey Robert, when he says it is broken does he mean that the power supply is broken like in mines ? Or is the speaker with the knob broken. Because as in the video you can also try what I did and change out the powersupply with a old laptop powersupply first. If the power supply is broken the. The master speaker would not work also

    Hello, do you know if it's possible to modify this subwoofer for use with RCA input without the control speaker? I acquired the subwoofer by itself and i'm looking to see what I can do with it.

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  Před rokem +1

      It should be possible since the control speaker doesn’t do much other than put on the amplifier and set the volume. It would require getting a pin out for the DB9/rs232 connector and making the required circuit. Check out this www.yoreparo.com/es/audio/audio/preguntas/1250316/logitech-z506-control-de-volumen-db9

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  Před 2 lety

      The 12v isn’t enough because amplifier is rated for higher voltages, I think 12 may still working but it would affect the maximum output volume among other things

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  Před rokem

      Could be a number of things from a faulty cable to a bad power supply like in the video. Would be better to see if you can isolate the cause of the problem,
      Eg it cut of when you move the system, or when you try to play it too loud. It could also be a switch shorting out
