When I was a kid I had the blessing to have lived in the same neighborhood with Ward Kimball. Talk about being in train heaven you couldnt get any better than to ask permission from the Kimballs to go see Wards trains. He collected a lot of life size trains, boxcars, a real train station and model trains. He didnt mind letting the kids of the neighborhood come in his yard to play on the many train cars he had collected. Being an employee of Walt Disney (Ward was the creator of Jiminey Cricket) Walt and Ward had traveled to a train show together and they both were bitten by the train bug. And both of them began their collections. Ward collected full size working locomotives, and Walt had a scaled down version of locomotives that you could ride. Ward had a full size train line that went from the rear of his property to the front of his property at his house located in San Gabriel California on Ardendale with a box car you could see from street. Those were good times a magical time I will always remember for the rest of my life. Im 54 now the trains and the tracks are gone but those special memories keep chugging on. I want to thank the Kimball family for all your kindness and the best childhood any young boy and train buff could ever ask for. You will always be very dear to my heart.
