It’s stupid to say that Messi isn’t doing anything because his role has changed at psg. He’s now playing deeper like a midfielder in the attack because of Mbappe and if u watch their games he creates so many chances. He just seems like his finishing is off. He’s probably not used to the team not being shaped around him like it was for his whole career at Barca. But u can’t say he is doing nothing because he is still one of the best playmakers in the world.

@@leftnut1055 Tbf it’s because he isn’t quite the typical midfielder. Cuz like he drops deep, but then a lot of times ends up defending and tracking back even less than psgs supposedly more attacking players like Neymar or Mbappe. He didn’t defend at Barca either but at that time he was also more involved in the final third to compensate for it. Now I feel like he hasn’t fully embraced that pure midfield position. (Cuz lets be honest it’s not like Xavi and Iniesta were ever being caught standing around in the center circle when their team was defending).

If you’d watch Messi play now, things quite different. He plays so deep, not that we didn’t notice it at barca quite a few times, but here, at PSG, they ain’t providing good passes or if they actually did, there’s no good link up plays. So Messi decides to go deep, and now has got double the work to do, needs to get away from the opponents, which he always does, needs to dribble, find the space, and provide a def splitting pass. Now, to do that, you need good chemistry to find your teammates. There’s only or hardly few players who make runs with such situations( Mbappe being the only one I can think of). Messi ain’t finished, not even close to being one. He’s got it in him, the only thing that PSG as a whole is lacking is good link up plays, for which you need good chemistry, and a good manager( Poch’s good, but somewhere you can see he’s not being the impact to level up PSG’s game, just as to how we see with Ancelotti’s real, Xavi’s Barca, Pep’s City, Klopp’s Liverpool….). And the worst thing to do, is to criticise the GOAT, which he is, alongside Ronaldo. And people, most of them so called football fans(Messi haters, not even sure if they even do watch), look up only on the highlights of the game, which is around 8 minutes, doesn’t even show what he’s done throughout, as the highlights just gets you with the chances created, goals scored.

Ironic that Raymar did a vid saying Maradona was Overrated because Stats look Messi and CR7 scored more, and now is using the very same argument I made on his comments section about why I thought (and still think) peak Maradona would be the first name on my all time 11 team sheet (except he excluding the captain argument, because Messi is not a great captain and Diego was)
Messi fans:.... Anyone who thinks Messi is better thats fine, I'm not hating on that view point. I dont agree with it, but I understand how and why someone might think that and respect it.
Raymars argument centered around goal scoring stats and how because Diego was never as prolific as Messi/CR7, he was not as good and was Overrated (the video was specifically claiming Maradona was overrated lmao).
What he failed to grasp (because he did not watch him actually play...I did) was how good at passing Diego was, how clever he was, how inspiring he was, how he actually had a pressing/defensive/tackling presence , how tough he was, how creative he was , how unpredictable he was(all things he is better at than both CR7 and Messi), and that the goals argument is BS because Diego played more in midfield than the likes of CR7 and Messi. If Messi or CR7 drags their Nation to a World Cup, then their goal record becomes something you can use to differentiate the likes of Diego.
Just Ironic that Raymar is doing an "in defence of Messi" video using the same argument and reasoning I levelled at his "Maradona is Overrated" video. He must have realised stats are not everything

He was like that for like 10 years ago that trash of player was 10 years ago he was just buying small teams that only do the defending to win he was going to the las 5 of la liga to score…. Mbappe let him score … he aint passing or creating thats bs bc verrati does all that and he just do the final pass

Because Messi is playing for a team that does not play the "Barca style of play" (tiki taka, pass and move style football). Psg relies on playing the ball to pacey players like Mbappe and Neymar and Messi does not fit into that very un-intellectual style of football. It's also the reason psg have already been knocked out of the champions league despite having such a high average individual player quality overall. You can't rely on pace in football to succeed at the highest levels (champion's league) and many managers like psg's manager Pochettino try to abuse Mbappe and similar pace merchant players to try and win games but that doesn't work against good teams like Real Madrid who can work together well and form good series of passes to progress the ball up the pitch to the opposition's goal where they have an unbelieveable quality target man striker called Karim Benzema. That's why Psg got knocked out, they relied on pace. Messi doesn't fit into a team that is centered around giving the ball to Mbappe because of his pace.

I respect messi, but people who say his role in psg is a playmaker! He takes more shots than mbappe, than every player in psg! He misses alot.
If he was able to score a lot of goals, they would have put him in the front. So thats why he play deep and play as a playmaker

The Premier League is the strongest league in the world, Ligue 1 is barely in the Top 5, bragging about a Ligue 1 title with all the money and stars that PSG have is quite ridiculous, even more so after losing the French Cup, the French SuperCup and the Champions League. The United and PSG seasons are both a complete failure.
