  • DON'T buy Lexar Cards! SONY A7IV
    This video was create to inform you what cards you can use with the new sony a7iv camera. I do also suggest a couple of brands your should get over another. Lexar, Sandisk, Prograde, Angelbird, Sony. These simply are sd card brands to consider. But which type? V30? V60? V90? UHS-II? Micro SD Card? What? Confused yet? I use my Atomos Ninja V to record me using some of the cards so you can see what Codec I am choosing for each.

    The Cfexpress type A will only make an improvement if we use the S&Q mode (with the most demanding codec) and to improve the size of the buffer before it is full.
    Given the low burst on the A7IV, having the ability to have an almost unlimited buffer and for me, an argument that makes buying a Cfexpress type A, almost indispensable.

There is also included a usb 3 plug so you can use it for hard drive. It was working well with my 5.7k VR camera Vuze XR that i sold few month ago. I think it is a V90 class 10 uhs II or something like that. The fastest nearly you can get on sd cards. For faster you need a CF card. But i have no usage for more than 165MB/sec write speed and nearly 290MB/sec read. It is fast!!

      I'll never understand why these kinds of cards are so expensive. How is it that a pcie 3 drive, which is around 10x faster than these drives, can still sell for a fraction of the price?
      The 256GB version of the Kingston you talk about is 198.00 USD on Amazon's US site, it has 300MB/s read and 260MB/s write. The 500GB version of the Sk Hynix Gold P31 is 65.00 USD while offering read speeds of 3500MB/s and writes of 3200MB/s. So you get more than 10x the speed and double the storage for less than a third of the price *AND* the pcie drives are *FAR* more reliable. And we haven't even begun to talk about pcie 4, which is double the speeds of pcie 3.
      It's not like the sd card technology is new, on the contrary, pcie is a much newer technology than sd cards, so what the hell gives? This just seems like exploitation by these camera manufacturers to me.

    The video is incorrect regarding the info that you don't ever need CFexpress. In my A7 IV if I set in S&Q Rec frame rate to 24fps and Frame Rate to 60fps and File format to XAVC S-I 4k I get a warning that my V90 is not enough and I need CFexpress VPG200 or higher.

    • @gabriel101x
      @gabriel101x Před 2 lety

      Yea there's some kind of firmware bug with S&Q mode on the camera. 4k60 S-I is 600mbps which is 75MB/s and well in spec for a v90 card. On my v30 card I can record 200mbps 4K S but it won't even let me record at 100mbps in S&Q mode lol. 4K60 S-I should work fine in normal recording mode on a v90 card.

    • @cristianburu
      @cristianburu Před 2 lety

      @@gabriel101x Actually no, the 600mbps has to apply to the conformed 24fps footage. So in order to be able to output a 24fps 600mbps footage the camera has to record 60fps at 1500mbps
