- -Welcome to the Sleep Ranch! We are located in the Northern Black Hills on the South Dakota/ Wyoming border where our ancestors settled and started ranching in 1883.
I (Carson) work alongside my parents, Jeff and Jodi, our ranch hand, Jaques, my wife, Damaris who also works as a nurse in town, and our son Silas! We have friends and family who come along very frequently as well!
We run a cow/calf operation where we summer our cattle on the Black Hills National Forest and winter them in the foothills of the Black Hills. We also have a backgrounding feedlot, and grow alfalfa and grass hay.

The little man sure does favor his Dad.
The leash was a good tool for Angus, he is smart.
So glad you are training Angus. A well trained cow dog a plus for any ranch
Enjoyed the video it was good. Lil Silas is a sweet Heart.
Silas looks just like his grandpa.
You’re little guy sure is cute . And it’s good once in awhile to leash your dog and show him what you want . 😊
Good to see you 3. Your son is growing too fast and now walking. Time sure flies. Take care. Love to you all ❤
Angus has sure become a handy little cattle dog
Thanks for sharing another day on the ranch. Have a very Merry Christmas!
Silas with his bottom two front teeth, so stinking cute.... Always work around the ranch.. Thanks for sharing Carson... Merry Christmas!
You will soon have two trainee's Silas and Angus. He sure is growing fast, before you know it he will be driving a tractor. Should you have snow by now, you may miss out on a white Christmas, we could be having a very wet one Cyclone Jasper has dumped a record breaking amount of rain over north Queensland. Thanks again Carson from Down

Thanks for sharing. Hope you a merry Christmas
Good to see Dad and son time on the farm....brings back many good Zululand memories for me.
Sylus is getting so big and that little smile is wonderful. 😊
Wow Angus is getting good job well done
Your little boy is spitting image of his mom!! Heifers look good. We quit using heelers cause it did nothing but teach our cows to kick which is dangerous at calving time Got a little snow here in Manitoba but staying warm. Hoping you and yours have a merry Christmas. Stay safe my friend!
The little boys are doing great and sure are cute. Good to see Angus can settle down it can be hard for a blue to get calmed down. The cattle guards looked like they made life hard for a little while there. Sometimes just talking is hard so nothing to stress. Worthless information manhole covers are round because it is the only shape that will not fall in on itself if it is out of position. Stay safe and healthy and a Merry Christmas to you and family, friends.
Saludos desde Argentina excelente trabajo en el campo 👍
Silas is looking cute and adorable as ever. Love to hear him trying to talk.
You and Angus are training each other. Good job
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Nice to see the little Sojourner brother, Men actually working..😅
You and the family stay blessed.
Sorry, I seem so cynical about work,, but if you only knew....
It's a damn shame what the world's gotten to
For people like me and people like you.
a tip use your front bucket next time, turn it all the way dump then set it down on cattle guard to pick straight up & straight down
Good to see your family, hope you all ahve a great Christmas and God bless.

You are really good w Angus have you trained a dog before? Thank you for sharing your story w us.❤
Yea, Silas! Two little teeth
Here are a couple of suggestions about working your dog on cattle you need a comment that will stop him no matter what is happening I use down. I don't care if he lays down but I need him to stop dead in his tracks. He also needs a come back command that is urgent if you give him that command he needs instantly to come to you and lay at your side. Remember these are commands not request. The next one is a send command. If you can get these 3 commands where they are instant response you can work cattle. Dogs do not understand English so you can't just tell them what to do. Use the same command every time and don't let him do it on his time your commands are urgent and need to be instantly responded to. You may find that when you are working that you use all 3 commands one right after the other. Hope you can use this information
Is painting lines on a road like a cattle guard very effective at keeping cattle in. ?
Now if you can just teach angus to count
Looks like it just teasing the dog by letting him lung at the cows
your dog needs way better training,
