READ THIS FIRST. I want to clarify something that confused even me (lol). Of course the corporate taxes in Sweden does not go specifically to healthcare etc, what I am trying to say (and failing at lol) is that corporate tax is the tax that is significantly higher than normal income tax so sometimes we say that ‘that’s how we pay for welfare’. Just not literally, hope that makes sense. From living several years in the US now and comparing income and corporate tax (I have had an LLC and S-corp equivalent in both countries) I can say that my husband gets the same % left on his paycheck after taxes and fees but my taxes has gone WAY down here in the US. And before anyone says VAT/moms/sale-tax also is tax, they have that here in the US too, I don’t know why that never comes up. Oh and I also say, confidently, that the new FDA-rules come into play in April, don’t know why I said that. It’s in July lol. Now check the comments down below of all the people that did not ‘read this first’ and commented about this. :)

It’s definitely an eye opener. My husband enrolls in health insurance with his employer. He pays out $400-ish a month - me and him - for the WORST insurance an employer could provide 😵‍💫 $6000 out of pocket (after the monthly premium) before we can even get insurance to cover anything. If they cover it.
Our system in the US def needs to change!

@@xoxostacidoes that insurance happen to be Cigna??? lol I made the mistake of getting it from my employer and regretted every second I had it.
I had to go the ER serval times and all of it was out of pocket.
I was lucky and able to not renew it & go instead with Champ VA through my husband being a disabled veteran. But yeah, if it’s Cigna it really and truly is the worst insurance possible.

Isn't healthcare in most EU states payed by both employee and employer? Like out of your gross income part is taxes and healthcare but also the employer pays a part on top of that. 🤔 This is how it's on Romania(my home country) and Germany(where I live now). I know my self employed partner used to fully cover his healthcare, but there are some associations for freelancers/ self employed people, who cover a part of that pay, like an employer would do. But this is the extent of my knowledge on this topic. 😅 I have no idea about corporate taxes, so on with the video 😁. And I love hearing your insights and experiences.

@@Linedhel well that is exactly what I am saying above, just that in Sweden corporate tax is higher than wage tax. If you are selfemployed in Sweden healthcare is still free though.

With Shroud specifically I think the It’s Freakin’ Bats preorder fiasco tainted how willing people are to purchase from them. Them ghosting customers for months again is probably it for the brand. There’s too much uncertainty and inconsistency there for me to be willing to make another purchase when so many other indie brands have proper customer communication

I was born and raised in the US and really wish our healthcare and social services were more like Europe. The amount I pay in premiums and additional fees is way more than it would be for the national tax rate in Europe. I lived abroad, and even the NHS, which was meh, was still easier. Before anyone fusses, I do love my country, but I can also see the benefits of other systems. People should be open to ideas and exchanges.

Healthcare is expensive and a gamble when you have it. My husband is disabled and he has stage 5 renal failure. We were told that if/when he gets a chance to get a transplant we would still have to pay almost $10,000 out of pocket since insurance doesn't cover it 100%. So if he was to have this procedure now, he couldn't because we don't have kind of money lying around. It scary it what our healthcare system is.

I have notice how much better your English has gotten over the years. Also, your Swedish accent is less pronounced in videos these days.
I love your Singe brushes! I recently decluttered a lot of my brushes because Ipsy/Boxy Charm was extremely generous with brushes and of course I bought sets myself. Your brushes were top of my keep pile.
I love your CZcams videos. Been a long time watcher even if I don’t comment much.
I understand how much you miss living in Sweden. Brands are different, food is different. I go through that just going from US to Canada several months a year. I have brought groceries cross the border in both directions!
I’m grateful that my state isn’t open carry. And I’ve lived in two of highest armed states. If I moved to Texas, I’d win the trifecta of gun owned states.
What I notice the most, is how the news in US leads with murders on the news. Once, the lead news story in Canada was a littering in the park! Littering!
You always look beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration to just play with makeup.

I think you would love Minneapolis and Saint Paul . We have city neighborhoods where there is a coffee shop and locally owned restaurants about every mile or so. I live close to the Mississippi river, and we walk every day, to the grocery store, and to coffee shops, and even a small movie theater near us. I definitely recommend looking into it if your husband has opportunities to stay on in the US. There are great teaching hospitals in Minneapolis and plus I know that you are used to snow! So you would have warm, humid, summers, and brisk winters. And the transportation system is good.

US healthcare is abysmal. I had a psoriasis flare on my face and really wanted to get in to see a derm this morning, but having an HMO, the insurance wouldn’t pay for a specialist without a referral from my PCP. I reached out to my PCP and he’s taking the day off so I’m stuck. How does this make a sense? It’s just insurance companies finding new ways to not pay for anything and it just puts more pressure on the doctors and delays care. I agree with what you miss from Europe. I used to live in Spain and I miss all those things.

The healthcare situation in the US is terrible. Employers don’t want to pay & that’s the issue. Insurance companies have capitalized healthcare to the extent that even menial baseline care is unreachable for many.
I wish the US had walkable cities. There are a few, but I wish that the infrastructure here was more geared toward health in all ways & less dependence on fossil fuels (but that’s the issue in a nutshell).

I was ghosted by one small brand. I'd rather not say the name. I don't want to cause them harm, in case it was because their owner was overwhelmed. In the end, my order made it alright, but I won't be buying from them again. If you're so overwhelmed that you can't answer your customers' questions when they try to reach out to you in different ways (IG, email) over a couple of days, I just wonder if there is something else that is falling through the cracks (safety, digital security). I feel for small brands because they're under a lot of pressure. I think part of the problem is that social media makes them explode too fast and they can't handle it. Sometimes, better turtle than hare! 🙂

She apologized profusely and promising that I would be receiving a shipping confirmation soon. As of right now, I'm still waiting for that confirmation email. I understand that sometimes things happen that are beyond our control, and I feel horrible that she was dealing with a medical issue, but at the same time I feel like there should always be a plan B, especially when you're a business owner. The same thing happened with me and UOMA - I bought some products (recommended by a different beauty CZcamsr) they charged my card almost $100, never sent my order, never replied to my emails, phone out of service and then their website shut down. It makes me angry because they HAD to know ahead of time and they just operate this way. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but my frustration is compounded by the fact that the UOMA by Sharon C is still apparently selling products and making money - she just took the money and ran when it came to her higher end UOMA. SO frustrating!!

Dear Angie, just like you I learned about myself when living in USA. I learned I am European :) I like diversity and walking places :) I like esplanades. I like the European architecture, I like my bread without so much sugar (I live in Germany) and the bread tastes and feels like bread :).
I loved the convenience of the USA life style but found very hard to make friends there. (lots of acquaintances)

Healthcare and education in the states is HORRENDOUS! It really is infuriating how you don’t know if you will be able to afford a medical procedure because you just don’t know how much it would be and coverage is so convoluted.
I hear you on missing Sweden. I feel the same about Mexico though I was born here in the states. Something about being home just feeds your soul. But so happy you are stateside; crossing my fingers for a meetup 😂😂🤞🏽
3 Singe releases! So far I own everything lol so saving my money for this. Only other thing I was tempted by was the new lunar beauty collection 🌚

There is a reason many European's end up in metropolitan areas (NYC, Chicago, SF etc) They are used to public trans, walkability, neighborhoods & cultural activities like concerts, theatre, museums, universities, art galleries, etc. I've never lived abroad but I have moved to another state & back. That is an adjustment since even tho it's all one country, different states have different cultures, laws, tax structures, legal age limits & public school curriculum not to mention social services & public trans.

Health insurance is so ridiculous! I pay for my insurance because my son has a health condition, but it’s rare and the treatments are really expensive so health insurance refuses to pay it. It costs me $2500 every single time he needs it and it’s something he has to have. I’ve fought so hard to try and get insurance companies to pay for it but they just have excuse after excuse. I even switched to a different, more expensive insurance because it seemed like it would pay for it but then they didn’t. It’s maddening!

I think that when you start something it is difficult because it is the beginning, starting from the ground up. When you work you way through it becomes easier! The FDA is so behind here in the U.S. We have ingredients in some of our food I not allowed in a lot of other countries. Example high fructose corn syrup😨 this is a chemical compound not digestible sugar. Love your channel. Keep up the great work!😁💚🖒

Brands can pay for the testing for ingredients to get them approved by FDA. They just don’t want to because it’s costly and time consuming. With sunscreens it didn’t surprise me, but I’m curious to see if any brands actually do it when it comes to the pigments since it will really factor into things.

My biggest issue with the whole Shroud thing is she still has not done what she said she would when she finally responded to my email. I had to file a dispute with my credit card and when she finally responded to me, she said she would ship my palette if I canceled my dispute... Well, no I'm not doing that because it's been 4 months with zero communication; why would I take away the shred of security I had to get anything from my purchase? It's very frustrating. I'm certainly glad she's okay, of course, but this whole situation has been tainted the brand for me.

The health care system is the same in Lithuania. It’s not perfect, but at least you know what you get.🙂 And when it comes to missing things… I miss simplest things too. I’ve been living in Mexico City for 10 years, and sometimes I just miss something as simple as walking somewhere and not using the car. I even miss the silence and the respect for the time of rest of other people, because here in Mexico they loooove music and fiesta, and nobody cares if it’s 2-3 am and you have to go to work in the morning, you have a baby, an elderly person or you’re sick, you’ll have to listen to the noise till the fiesta is over. Don’t get me wrong, I love music too, but I enjoy the silence a lot too, specially at 2-3 in the morning.

Government funding in the US is quite tricky. There are so many competing interests that need research, medical and food related. Also, a lot of the government funding is mandated by Congress or priorities set by policy in the administration. Makeup is not a priority and I would agree that is right. I am not against vegan products but it is a personal choice and there are tradeoffs. Unpopular opinion:This is one of those tradeoffs; you can choose products from can be made with those guidelines that are only have vegan ingredients.

    • @AngelicaNyqvist
      @AngelicaNyqvist  Před 2 měsíci +1

No you actually cannot produce all colors in eyeshadow with only vegan pigments and also make them eyesafe according to the FDA. The only approved vegan red pigment does not allow for a lot of true red or darker purple shades.

In regards to Healthcare in the US, it really depends on your employer what kind of coverage you have. I feel it shouldn't be this way, and everyone should pay toward it rather than be so dependent on an employer. If you lose your job you either have to get Cobra which is pay full price for your current insurance, do Obama care which is expensive and covers nothing or meet the threshold to get on medicaid(state paid insurance). I'm lucky that my employer pays over 75% of my insurance (Health, dental and vision)for both my husband and I. It is really good insurance that pretty much covers most things and has a max of what an insurance can charge for a procedure. I also get an HRA, which money goes toward it that pay for medications, extra cost for glasses, co-pays, etc. I pretty much don't pay for anything in regards to health care because of the benefits my employer offers.
