John Meadows is an American professional bodybuilder and entrepreneur with an intriguing story. While John now boasts a successful career as an IFBB Pro bodybuilder and fitness company owner, his journey towards the top was extremely difficult.
Growing up, John never met his father, and his mother died at an extremely young age. This meant John only had his grandmother to take care of him. When his grandmother tragically passed away in 1999, John was left alone without his family to support him.
As the years went by, John continued to face new adversities in his life. During his early days in bodybuilding, John suffered from a rare colon disease. After fighting the disease for several months, his colon burst - almost resulting in his death. Luckily, John was quickly rushed to an emergency room where his life was saved. After several months of recovery, John was finally back on his feet.
Coming back into bodybuilding, John used the very obstacles that almost cost him his life as ‘fuel’ to grow stronger. Ever since he recovered from the colon surgery, John has gone on to become a successful bodybuilder, entrepreneur, and inspiration for many people all over the world.

Great no nonsense video again john...keepin it simple and givin risk vs reward...classic👍👍👍👍
The front delt does sit at an angle though, so following that would bring the dumbell up in front of your face, although straight up in front seems to work just aswell, so i dont know really what's best lol
Hey where can i buy this shirt? :)

I watch him everyday!
Who else still has to watch at least one of John's videos a day? He left so much knowledge behind for us 🙏🏾💚
Sad thing is we won’t see anymore new video £;
He left us a treasure
Wait what?
Daily inspiration!
100 percent
man, you're one of the easiest youtubers to watch, you explain everything so clearly and calmly
facts.
Whoever is keeping this channel alive, please keep doing what you’re doing. John is a gift to bodybuilding. I love looking back at his videos and still learning something.
John trains always with the strict form & the precise range of motion. You're like a walking text book!
sym qual you need to learn to spell like a textbook!
@@dane1986ste So true! Thanks!
@@dezukaful effective range of motion
@@gustavolealgomes5448 Thanks for your perfect answer!
You’re missed big guy. Thank you for everything you have done to better this community. RIP
Man wtf?!!! 🥺
I'm late to this channel. Heard he passed. Sad to hear. Rip
I found this dude after he died and he was very knowledgeable. He taught me about how partials make your shoulders bigger. Sure helped me. RIP bro
I think my friends must be getting tired of me saying "John Meadows says....." LOL :)
haha not me!
"Friends." LOL.
haha....I don't get tired of it I'm only getting tired (fatigue) because I 'm watching John training at the gym:)
Cut 'em out. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
You have the best t-shirts
Protect your shoulders guys!!! I'm 33 (183lbs). I did weightlifting in High school, College and for football for both. And my shoulders are killing me now after all that lifting, all those years without being shown a better or smarter way like John is talking about. I did shoulders and back this morning and my shoulders aren't in constant pain anymore because I learned and watched how to work them without causing injury.
As I was reading this I am at 7:12 and that lady's form at the far side of the camera is doing exactly what I just watched from Jeremy not to do, even Jeff C preaches this.
Meadows the best BB teacher, listen every video.
Just started watching John's videos, and it's no wonder why he'll be so missed.
Totally. John really meant a lot to me without the two of us even knowing each other. He helped me getting started and progress. Still doing quite a few exercises that I got from him, they're effective for me and fun. I will be missing his tips but I'll remember the ones he taught us and will keep utilizing them. It's crazy how people all over the entire globe loved him and were so positive about him, no one hated John. Big, big loss to the fitness industry, can't have enough mountaindogs during these times. Thank you so much John, rest easy brother.
same here... just starting out in gym, his vids are really detailed
:/
MD1, You're a walking encyclopedia of innovative training!...I'm 51 and love the Old School touch to your methods. Much Respect Brother, and keep uploading these informative videos, I assure you will be watching every one of them!
Can’t wait to work this routine into my next push day! My rear & side deltas are ok but front needs extra love. Thanks, John!
Recently subscribed to your channel. I come from a boxing background, but the last 12 months started to lift a few weights as well. I don't see myself as a bodybuilder, far from it,but if I'm going to do a job,I like to do it,to the best of my ability, and that's were you come in. I'm stronger than ever, and bigger than ever, literally everyone who sees me comments on how I look. Just wanted to say thank you very much for sharing your broad knowledge for free. I'm stronger than most lads who have been lifting for years, and now give them a few pointers, but never forget to tell them we're the knowledge came from. Thank you John......from John,Liverpool,England ✌️🇬🇧
John Meadows, you are the best with the tutorials. Thank you!
SO appreciate your consideration of shoulder health. Not enough coaches emphasize this very necessary aspect of training.
Thanks for the Real information, I've been working out for 8 months doing what you say and haven't hurt myself being 61. Experience is key Thank You.
Thank you John for everything I appreciate your help I'm strong as hell may God bless you
Thanks for the shoulder series especially mentioning how to work hard around pre existing injuries. Very helpful.
I am SOOOO thankful that you made this video and talked about the depth not needing to touch the chest. It was KILLING my shoulders. I thank you sir for posting this and saving my rotator cuffs.
So glad that I’ve come across your channel 👌🏼 some awesome exercises that really actually work and your explanations are so simple and spot on to hit the correct spot 👍🏼
John and Seth Feroce should do a video together. Them 2 have the best advise for lifting for mass and longevity. Thank you Mr. Meadows
John you are a light in this world......
I watch at least 1 of John's videos a day he is the greatest trainer on the internet and he is a great family man. RIP JOHN, you are missed bu never forgotten!! God Bless John, Mary Alexander and Andrew!!
I just tried your exercises for front middle and rear dealts (2 of each of the 3 exercises in your videos) and my shoulders are on fire!!!
Been training with weights for over 40 years. I feel like just now I am finally figuring it out! As an older but committed lifter, I am finding that higher reps, TUT, cluster sets, isos and negatives, hitting each body part several times a week is my focus. Once per week do a heavy compound movement for each body part to maintain strength. Thanks for your education John!
Thanks again for everything Jon. Always go to your vids before hitting a set
Glad I rewatched this. I forgot a few of these and need to add them back into my shoulder routine
So much good recommendations . As usual thanks John
Only channel I watch for workouts, man. Such great content!
Very true incline bench has grown my shoulders and delts so much. I never did them much until this past year and the gains have been unmatched
This was such a great video, the perfect balance of fun, meathead, gym bro, heavy barbell talk mixed with the sage, wisdom of a quarter century of lifting in a scientific method of self observed kinesiology.
thank you!
Another informative video! Keep up the great work John!
How could someone be so good yet so humble at the same time
You are amazing John
Still watching these for pre-workout motivation and insight. Great stuff. Great guy.
Your channel is my absolute favorite. I always learn something new from you. Thank you 🙏🏻
You are so welcome!
The experience and knowledge you impart on us for free is incredible sir!
Thanks. I’m just starting out and this will be a great help.
Simply amazing...clear and to the point..love this guy!
ive learn so much on this perfect exercise series thanks man
John seems/ed like a real swell fella..no big inflated ego..no fancy talk..just bare bones solid advice from years of experience....I was kinda stunned to hear of his passing...glad his knowledge will live on for eternity..
Thanks for the tips. I'll have to try the inclined dumb bell raises on my next shoulder work out. I've been doing a single dumb bell raise with the dumb bell pointing towards the floor while standing. I position it between my thumbs and the top of hands with my palms parallel to the floor while standing in front of my face. I hold the dumb bell where I'm looking over the top of it and then raising it up so I'm looking under the bottom of the dumb bell. I like to do at least 10 reps. This prevents any swinging.
I'm really glad to hear you say that stopping a few inches from your chest is ok. I had rotator cuff surgery back in Dec 2019 and while I've recovered pretty well, I don't want to risk re-injuring myself. So I have been stopping above my chest a bit instead of bringing it all the way down and putting too much of a stretch on my shoulder. Also, I do pull my elbows in somewhat to protect that insertion point, so glad to hear you're good with that. I really like what the incline does for me and if the way I'm able to do it now is good, I'll keep doing it that way :)
Yes M Dog good stuff those shoulder exercises lit up my front delts with a sweet burn👍👌👊😎💯
Just got back from training shoulders and now I wanna go back and do it again after watching this 😭

Good tips, especially for those who want to keep their shoulders in safe postion. Great video. Thanks
Like a musician or a actor or actress this man is actually still living in teaching from the grave I wish I had the privilege and an honor to be taught by him at least one session or even shake his hand he seems like such a nice person now with all that strength All That Body God bless this brother💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Great vid !!
My shoulder pain is exactly like your sounds .... these look like great excersies and weight proportions
Hi John, just wanted to stop by and let you know I appreciate your information bud. Like many people interested in lifting and nutrition, I follow a lot of different people here on CZcams to try to get the best information possible. What I really like about you John is that, whereas there’s plenty of good information out there (and tons of bad) most of these other CZcams fitness people honestly ooze with egotism and have no humility whatsoever it seems. My bet (I’m not a betting man) is that if you put all of these guys in the same room including yourself, you would be probably the only dude smiling and listening to these other mouths just talk. You’re humility and down to earth personality really shine through John and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that. I feel like you’re someone who truly just wants to help other people learn from your experience. Don’t ever change you’re the best John thanks!
thank you very much for that.
Crazy how I can find this year's later - thank you John
Thanks John. When I converse with people at the gym I work out. I can't emphasize enough, what you have stated . In particular the range of motion on the Smith Machine. That each person must find that range, which provides the most efficient results. Without the risk of Injury.
thanks, as always a very informative video 👍
Another great video like always
I needed this video yesterday John 😉
John!! Master tip for all levels; work through the burn and when form breaks that is the point the set is over. 👍 so many people train to a specific number of reps and stop. The body always wants to do the least amount of work so the mind has to be strong and tell the body to work past the burn! Always using the proper amount of weight for this type of technique no need to get hurt the weight will be there when your ready! Thanks John!
Thank you !!
nice, I plan on implementing tomorrow
Been loving this shoulder series, keep up the good work 💪
Awesome. Gracias
Cant wait to try tomorrow
He was and still is the only trainer who actually knew he’s stuff
Thank you sir!
Awesome sir!
another gem. thanks mountain dog.
This is what I been looking for someone to explain cause I've seen guys with great lateral/rear delts but not everyone seeks for this like I have been!I'm gonna try this!😁
John Meadows utube videos are probably the only ones where you don't read comments from haters , negative people and with insults contents ...Good on you John...Amazing stuff and it's all about great training and nutrition advices ,positivity and friendliness .
keeping it all +++++
Definitely enjoyed the knowledge John I will be implementing these exercises
Do you really think your front dels need 3 isolation exercises?
Thanks so much for your videos and multiple angles. Realized I had my shoulders way too far in front (and seat too far back) on the Smith press. Movement feels much better now
You're so welcome!
I am definitely going to do these workouts. I can’t go to heavy due to having a bad right shoulder but I can still put in the work. RIP John Meadows.
Wow wanted to put more shoulders in my workout and you the legend got me covered he is amazing rest in peace
traps are getting insane ! thanks for sharing you're knowledge with us !

Another great video thank you john!can you do a full day of eating when you were competing on what you ate roughly?thank you
Much Love John
thank you for the knowledge and the inspiration sir . I am a 65 y.o Army vet battling stage 4 metastatic cancer since 2011,and after a number of surgeries and radiation and back on chemo again( 2 years straight on,week in week out mostly)I need inspiration to keep motivated in the gym.I am not saying all this for pat on the back but to tell you that what you give positivity affects people far and wide and to thank you and encourage you to continue.
get better sir!!!
Hi John, I’m 71 years old and listen to your advice on all body parts. I’m still growing even at my age!
I love the last one. Never thought of that. And yes you were right, internal rotation on that will impinge the shoulder tendons and could potentially injure you. It’ll probably be fine for most people but if you’re older or have bad shoulders don’t internally rotate
burn burn, thank you from Italy
HEY JOHN THANK YOU BIG 'TIME FIR ALL THE TRAINING SESSIONS . HELPS US LITTLE GUYS . KIRK'OUT'PEACE
I love your all workout series ❤️
