I tend to use the LS-2 as a dry/wet mixer for distortion on bass because most distortion pedals don’t process low end that well in my experience, so its nice to be able to put some of low end back in to your tone
I've thought about this application and been meaning to try it, so I really appreciate your endorsement of that approach. Are you setting it up to combine distorted and clean signal, or are you doing some EQ in the different signal paths?
Man great video absolutely perfect for explaining how the LS -2 works!
Thanks! I'm glad it did it's job, and I really appreciate you watching!
Thanks for the video! Really inspiring! I never heard of the LS-2 and now I’m about to go get one!
Thanks for your comment! The LS-2 is an amazing tool: once you have one, you'll wonder how you lived without it.
The best you tube video to explain the Boss LS2 which appeared so elusive and now so simple
Massive thank u for a superb ‘relevant’ simple to understand demo
🙏🏽
‘The mixing options are endless’
I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you for your kind comment, and for watching!

Definitely an underrated pedal a long with an eq…Game changers
💯
I always did this with my chorus and phaser to give them volume control and the parallel routing made it even cooler. Great pedal!
I think you're saying that you used the LS-2 to build a one-of-a-kind PhasoChorus. If so, that makes me very happy :)
Thank you very much for this informative clip, lots of new options to try..Respect..
Thank you for watching!
Love my Boss LS-2 from ADawliah Al-Khobar Saudi Arabia
thank u so much i looking for this for long time splitting the signal for my low and distorting my bass!!!!
That sounds like a great way to use this pedal! Let me know how it works out!
I’ve been meaning to try something similar with my baritone: split signal, then EQ so that one side is treble and one side is bass, and then effect them differently.
EHX makes a Tri parallel Mixer for even more tonal options
Wow, I hadn't see that one before. It looks amazing: +1 channel and more features (including things like phase that could be really fun). And about the same price new as the LS-2. Might be a great deal.
@@JordanSeal the only issue is the size of the EHX, not really pedalboard friendly
I snagged a tri parallel last year and its alot of fun. It is too big for the pedal board but the routing of the wired would be a nightmare so i just leave it on the floor in front of the board. So much fun mixing fx. Fuzz and distortion is interesting. The possibilities are endless
Check the OBNE Signal Blender too, I have both (and and LS-2), signal blender is smaller footprint than the EHX Tri but only two channels. LS-2 is one of the most underrated utility pedals ever
The EHX also has a dry blend, so it's great for bass.
Good job bro
I have this pedal in a ox for several years, this is awesome, Im drag that puppy out wake up the streets mate.
Cool video mate just what I need
Glad it did the job. Thanks for watching!
I now have one and loving it, blend a Rat with a light SD-1 sounds Massive.
@@andyrussell1219 That sounds like a brilliant combo!
My amp happens to be stereo and I've been using a delay pedal to split the signal. Mixing modulation and drives/fuzz is so useful, I wish more people made use of this.
I've used a reverb the same way 😁Are there any particular effect combinations that you enjoy? I haven't played around much with parallel modulation.
great video
Thanks for watching!
EHX Tri parallel blender even gives you 3 parallel routes AND your clean signal. It’s an awesome utility pedal for parallel effects, splitting signal to multiple amps, or even using multiple instruments into 1 pedalboard.
My local store has one of these on the shelf... and I've fought haaaaaaard against my temptation to buy it.
... you may have put me over the edge 😂
Can you use this to run a delay pedal and a reverb pedal through an effects loop?
Great demo, simple and effective
That's what I was going for! Thanks!
Endless possibilites with this bruh
The Truth.
Exactly the video for clever people….hence no comments so far.
Haha I'm glad you think so. Thanks for watching!
Would it ut be possible to play 2 guitars in 1 amp that way?
The tone you are getting out of your Russian Big Muff is exactly my holy grail fuzz tone. Can you tell me if any of the mods on the pedal are engaged, and if so what are the mods and is the same modded pedal available for purchase? TIA
I’m not gonna lie, that is as good as that Muff has ever sounded 😂 None of the mods were engaged: it was just stock sounds played with my telecaster, into a Fender-style amp. A very attainable sound!
This might be a stupid question...but.....The tube screamer looks like the light is off at 2:18...and it sounds different than when you had it running in series at the beginning. Is it off in parallel? Can you explain the sound discrepancy.
Fair question! The light on that screamer (and maybe others, I've only ever used this one) is pretty dim, and combined with the angle (relative to the camera), I think it's just hard to tell that it's on. As for the sound, I didn't change the settings but agree that it's a bit cleaner sound than in the first example. My best guess is that the level control on the LS-2 is lower than unity gain, so it's reducing the volume slightly. That lower volume sound may be less interesting and it wouldn't push the amp as hard, so maybe there's less overdrive? Like I said... that's just my best guess.
To address what you may be thinking: I don't think the LS-2 changes the sound of these pedals, or any others that I've tried. (Other than by adding the additional volume control, which I find really useful.)
Thanks for watching!
Hi. Can anyone help me with this. I want to know if there is a pedal that has all the features of LS2 plus also provides the option to save presets of A+B mix. Let say on A I have high gain distortion/fuzz and in B I have an overdrive. Now what I want to do is create presets for different tones by mixing A and B. Is there any pedal has option to save different mix presets.
I'm not aware of an option with presets... sounds like Boss needs to make a 200 or 500 series version of the LS-2!
Would this be same as having the two pedals back to back but just adjusting the volume knobs, or does the line selector help “seperate” them while they’re “together…”???
The Line Selector does separate them in a way that's different from running one into the other. You can adjust each pedal's controls without affecting the sound you get from the other pedal, and then blend the combined sounds together using the volume/level controls on the Line Selector.
Nice idea but would be more useful for run them parallel with even amounts of clipping. The tubescreamer gain is low so the blended fuzz sounds like fizz on top of cleanish.I want such a pedal to blend say my MK1.5 (w/reducable lows) for mids & highs with say a Tumnus/Klon type OD w rounded highs for the lows and mids.IE a tighter low end transitioning to warmer fuzzy highs.
I doubt the TS would ever feel as clipped/squared as the Muff, but you make a good point. The two sounds aren’t very complimentary, and the technique would work better with better choices.
🎉
would this be a possible solution to the quiet big muff problem, (when even when its maxed volume its usually quieter than ur clean in live setting ?) . say if u ran an overdrive pedal very tame and quiet on the A line (as ur "clean" tone)and alternate with the big muff on b line blasting will u get that percieved louder big muff volume. with line selector on the first setting.
I've rarely used a Big Muff live, so I don't have the best guess, but I think what you're describing could work if you set the levels of A and B in the right place. It's definitely worth a shot, esp. since I think these kinds of pedals have a ton of other useful functions. I'm sure everyone can find a use for one.
@@JordanSeal my fuzz face is the same issue. I think it's just that there are suuuuper compressed so u don't get dynamics really like how when it on clean, so it just "feels" quieter and clashes with freq of cymbals.
@@sean_shimmer Oh yeah, very familiar with that problem. My dream fuzz sounds aren't dynamic, and that's why I love them. I love the a wall of sound. But it doesn't play nice with other instruments and can be really hard to manage in a mix. When I'm recording, I often start off using pretty dirty sounds and gradually make them cleaner, just to address this exact problem.
@@JordanSeal yah the crazy fuzz sounds can inspire but at least u can make it louder in a recording it's hard to do that live.i hope the line selector will do that cause I just ordered it. I do.the same.with modulation and delay it will inspire to.write and play a certain way but then u end up taking everything off when u get it going
Yes, the LS-2 can also be used as a boost pedal. So you can crank the level on the muff side above unity to match levels. Or to make a louder lead tone vs rhythm tone. Very versatile pedal.
Is there a pedal/ device that has many such loops?? Kinda multiple ls2s in one box?? Thnxx brother. Cool vid❤
I'm not aware of any massive mixer-style pedals available from the bigger manufacturers (and thus readily available). I've heard that EHX's Tri Parallel Mixer is like a better LS2: it has three loops and some extra features, but it's not a radical departure in terms of quantity.
But the fact that you can't buy it (readily) doesn't mean that it's impossible. I've bookmarked this project on General Guitar Gadgets, which is a 4-channel mixer. In theory, you could extrapolate on this project and make something that's as big as you want/need. generalguitargadgets.com/effects-projects/boosters/mini-mixer/
... Or you could just buy a cheap mixer from Behringer or similar.
So there are options, but they're a bit outside of the pedal-shaped box.
@@JordanSeal ye. That ehx shit is good. Phase, mixing, master, bypassing. Cool. Gracies amigo. Cheers
Fat tone, fat idea. Thanks for the sick video
Thanks!
Don't forget to check your phase..
I could tell the OD was out of phase.
I didn't hear that, so I appreciate you flagging. What would you use to flip phase in a pedalboard context like this? I'm 99% sure I don't have that kind of tool today.
I just made a similar video, only I mix several pedals with none, into an amp with a crunch sound
Nice! What kinds of pedals were you putting in parallel? Drives, or modulation/delay/etc.?
@@JordanSeal I had a compressor, drive, reverb and delay in parallel with nothing but a slight boost from the A circuit contoller. czcams.com/video/DyCOz8fj1zs/video.htmlsi=K7W5ZxxBnG9USiQc
I bet you cannot do this with a fuzz face, as the LS-2 will wreck it's tone due to impedence problems.
That's my understanding too, but I've never tested the "vintage fuzz after a buffer" problem... sounds like a topic for a future video!
@@JordanSeal i have an LS-2 and no success hooking a fuzz to it, but a Muff can work downstream of a compressor, so that can work.
@@JordanSeal Use a separate splitter, use the LS-2 to combine the signal afterward.
