If the rule for estate tax is effective from the new year, why would there be an increased death in first week only? I mean the law is in practice. So the deaths associated can happen at anytime
I understand what you mean. However, the argument plays around with the difference between "actual" and "reported" numbers - something the GMAT is known to do.
Paradox questions typically have an inherent conflict in them. Some of the conflicts can be a little jarring, and some more logical. We strongly recommend that you practice paradox questions after practicing weaken and strengthen questions first. As explained in the video, D misses out on a lot of info. Mainly, the argument is specifically about the first week of the year and you do not even know whether the price increase had already taken place. Sure, it increased in Jan but by first week of Jan? And what, price increased and people immediately started dropping like flies? There is a lot of unsaid info. I was confused between D & E. the word "reported" had so much importance.
