Exactly! It reminds me of a case in my country where, last year, a girl on Instagram falsely accused a 17 year old for SA-ing her 3-4 years back (when he was 14-15), and many people believed it and the boy got harassed to the point that he k-worded himself. And the girl took no responsibility for it and said that it was not her fault he couldn’t handle the pressure. Woojin is *very* strong to go through something like this, I respect that man.

I met Woojin 3 days ago in Zurich and he is such a humble person. He didn't deserve any of the hate he is getting and I'm happy I attendet his Concert. It was amazing and I'm super proud of him that he's still going. I will continue on to support him!!!

I'm fully Chinese and can speak a little bit of Korean, and everything was put through Google translate. The "half-chinese half-korean" girl spewed out bs and many stays ate it up, they never listened to K-stays or native speakers. The fact that once Woojin was proven innocent Stays decided to accuse him of bullying the other members made me leave the fandom completely. Stays grow more toxic as Stray Kids gets popular.
Same, I also tried so much to stay in that fandom but when they choose to believe a 3 over analyzed clip over their 4 years of friendship is just not fair. I still support the boys but I won't consider myself as a stay anymore.

THIS is VERY confusing for me. Because in terms of looks Woojin is easily in the TOP 5 for me in SKZ. Like you can NEVER call the man ugly. I don't understand, like I truly cannot comprehend what people say when they call him not that good looking or downright ugly. The man is HOT. Moreover, we're not defending any of his allegations that were proven. If any allegation against him is proven, I think that's where the debate will obviously end, but letting something like that ruin a human's future simply on an unproven accusation, has the ability to drown the entire movement.

Woojin was a vocalist in a rap/dance based groups and the most popular members were Hyunjin and Felix so he got less attention. That was just speculation but the real reason was never known

People are just so hypocritical. They say he didn't act like it was serious because he promoted himself (was a mistranslation) and he called the rumours 'weird' (if someone made rumours about me that I knew weren't true I'd also call them weird) but they're the ones calling him 'Woojail' and making jokes about the situation. It's the fact that people wait for some specific members to be in drama is scary. "I can finally call him ugly," was a quote that really got to me. Woojin was going to be my ot9 bias wrecker so seeing this kind of drama made me drifted away from stray kids. But I hope stray kids and Woojin are still close because it would be sad if this drama ruined their friendship.
Same honestly. At the part about bangchan's live i tried my hardest not to feel it but in my head I was like 'damn you really threw him under the bus like that'. This whole situation makes me want to look at all the reasons why a fandom is bad before joining any other fandoms. Just so I can be better prepared for it. Because when I started listening to kpop and joined the Stay fandom, I thought everything was nice and happy. I'm not being mislead like that again.

I am a new fan of Straykids. I started listening to their newer music and didn’t know they started with 9 members until I digged farther into their earlier music.I found District 9, double knot and Hellavator and I can honestly say, Woogin’s voice was what caught my attention. I was like WOW, what a great voice. I was saddened to learned that he left the group. I thought, “what a great loss.” Whatever the reason was, one should not be too quick in condemning someone based on accusations. Seen too many cases where celebrities are being accused of crimes by haters in the hope of damaging their images. Thanks to your video, I am more knowledgeable in the Woogin scandal. I am glad all these accusations were proven false and I hope he is doing well. As far as people calling him ugly, he is far from that. Same here, I've been a stay for almost 2 months. I've got to admit that at the start I avoided him because of all the things, I heard toxic stays say about him. When I went and did my own research which I'm still doing, is that Woojin didn't deserve all that happened, the craze that spurred on so many rumors and the amount of people who are still after him even when things have been proven false is insane. And he's made mistakes but like, haven't we all?! His are just more visible to the public eye.

i literally thought the same thing. till this day, before a watched this video, was really lost and wanted to find out so bad about what happened and why he left. i saw some videos of him ,,bullying´´ the members and as it was sai in the video, there were 10 second videos of him literally just bumping into other members by accident. i was really sad that he had to go trough all those accusations and rumors. yesterday, when i found out he recently had a concert in my country (mind you its not a big nor a famous country) i got interested in his music and started listening cuz i really liked his voice. i really like his music and stray kids too and im ready to defend them both.

If you were sexually harassed in anyway, you would hate that person with all your heart. Now imagine you put all that pain, hatred, and anger, and forced it on some random person? These past few days have been so crazy it's unbelievable, stays keep saying Woojin is "obsessed" with Stray Kids but it's literally been the other way around all this time.
Woojin made his fandom name official the same day Skz celebrate their anniversary and stays were sooooo mad about it, saying WJ was shading them and doing it on purpose, as if March 25th was only made for Stray Kids.
There have been fake subs getting hundreds of likes where a fan asks Woojin if his bear is his friend and then supposedly asked him about past friends, and Woojin responds "I'm not friends with anyone from the past".
Cubs literally had to come out with the video of the live the fan asked the first question and after Woojin answered it he then started to talk about food, nothing about "past friends".
And Woojin used to follow the Stray Kids Topic on Twitter and stays calling him "obsessed" and WJ ended up unfollowing it so people would stop.
So stays are saying Woojin has an "obsession", but they are the ones searching for the people WJ follow, gatekeeping a date when it wasn't even for something important, and creating fake subtitles to justify their behavior. I thought we were done by now, but many stays are making the fandom look like the worst.

As a stay since the survival show, I’m beyond disgusted and disappointed at what stays have become over the years. It has truly become one of the most toxic fandoms and I ashamed of that. Our JOB as fans is to support the group and accept the decision they make inside and outside of the group. When woojin chose to leave, it broke my heart, but I understand. I found it horrible that people were so quick to jump to conclusions and his downfall had to come to this. The Stays need to apologize, as this is one of the most terrifying cases of cyber bullying I have ever seen.

Which led him to blame himself for skz not being as popular at the time. He felt like he was holding skz down from success. Stays even made a petition to kick him out from skz. From the start, my heart has alwas been broken seeing him being bullied. Im actually glad he left, because he can get away from the burden that he has been keeping. And then this happened. All because Rafa, Thais and Melina think he betrayed them. Thise dumbshits. All of his interviews are heartbreaking. You can see how much he's trying to hold back his tears and trauman was seen in his eyes. And during the peak of hyunjin's and other idols bullying scandal, he said in interview, asking for people to stop doing what they did to him. He doesnt want to see others went through what he went. Even with hate non stop towards him, he's still looking out for others. Im not his fan but i went through the same thing and im a victim of sa, so cases like this made me always put doubts in every party

here’s my theory as to why he left:
So we know that JYPE said he terminated his contract on his own terms right? and even wished stays together support his solo endeavors right? so based on that he wasn’t « kicked out » or left for a « bad reason ».
Now, if you think about it, Woojin wasn’t treated the best in SKZ. He didn’t get many vocal lines for someone who was arguably their best vocalist. As a main vocalist, he didn’t get much lines and was always in the back of the dances. He also was always called ugly and bullied by stays (yes you people did that don’t even try to back it up) I also think that during his time in SKZ he never got solo opportunities or opportunities to showcase his talents. The man can obviously sing but he was a bit restricted from doing that. Putting two and two together, he probably thought the best thing he could do is leave the group.
Not only would leaving the group altogether let him pursue a successful solo career but also benefit stray kids because he was always the « ugly member » or the least popular member while the others were all very popular among the fandom.
Although the timing was not the best, I think Woojin was like « it’s not or never » and dévider to terminate his contract which kind of explains his departure for « personal circumstances ». During the time he left, they were midway double knot promotions, AND they were gearing up for Clé: Levanter and the repackage (sort of) album aka the SKZ2020 Album.
Most people like to assume the reason why they didn’t keep his voice was because he did something wrong however, thinking about it logically, why keep the voice of a member that left if you are in the process of re-recording anyway? Also, some people like counter « well, why did they keep him in Double Knot and not the others? he was kicked out abruptly so he didn’t record the other songs! » That’s not true. They in fact did record the other songs already but Double Knot was already recorded and set to upload which is why they couldn’t take him out. JYPE were most likely talking with Woojin about his departure.
I think the reason why they took him out the website as well that fast was because they probably already talked it out with Woojin and the release of Double Knot came and during that time frame they took him out the website.
Honestly, had the accusations not come out during last year, he would have had a strong fan base before his solo debut.
I do think he is innocent. The korean police were involved and launched an investigation and the girls on twitter even turned themselves in saying « they were joking around » *eye roll*.

Late answer but I totally agree with your point. I think it was purely his decision to go solo and that's why Chan was kinda bitter about it. He thought Woojin was being selfish leaving the group midway promotions and letting them down, and got frustrated about it. What he implied about Woojin's departure totally adds up to this argument.
While letting your teammates down is still a bad thing I think Woojin is definitely not someone like some "fans" try to make him to be. They are literally way worse than they think Woojin is.

I'm not trying to defend hyunjin or insult woojin but bullying is a first degree crime whereas sexual assault is a third degree crime. The severity is insurmountable. That too a bullying case involving a minor? Not negligible but it has no weight in front of a sexual assault accusation - _multiple_ sexual assault accusations.

Happy one year anniversary to this legendary and iconic video! I remember this time last year well. It was around February I believe. I wasn’t doing much because we were all in the height of the pandemic still and I was just recovering from Covid. So, I was using my spare time to get more into KPop. For those of you who don’t know, Red Velvet are my ultimate group and the only reason why I stayed listening to the genre after 2020. If it wasn’t for their music, I wouldn’t even have found this channel or any KPop CZcamsrs for that matter. Back to the story. So, I was looking up covers of “Psycho” when I found one by the 00’s line. There were two idols who caught my eye; Daehwi and Hyunjin (we I get to the Stray Kids addition of my “How Hair Style Affects Stage Presence” series, we WILL be talking about the power this man holds in shades of blonde). So, I looked up both of their groups. I immediately fell in love with Stray Kids’ personalities during interviews! And their music was great. But... It seemed like a member was missing half of the time (aside from Hyunjin and Felix, I didn’t know anyone else’s name lol). So, I looked up their group’s profile on KProfiles and saw that Woojin had left the group. I looked into it and saw that it seemed to be a mutual decision between himself and their company (JYP Entertainment). So, mystery solved, right? Of course not... I love line distribution videos because it adds a bit more math to music! So, I’m watching some SKZ line distribution videos and people are just going after Woojin by saying the most. I’m like... what’d he do. So, I started looking for articles and videos to explain the situation to me. That’s when I came across this. Now, I’ve always believed that there are at least three sides to a story; Person A’s, Person B’s, and the truth is usually somewhere in between. So, I go into every situation neutrally until a sufficient amount of facts/evidence are presented to support an argument and allow me to conclude, without reasonable doubt, that the person is being truthful. So, to see a video go into so much depth debunking one claim after another was just mind boggling! I was so impressed with the hard work, the research, the way in which the video was presented, etc. I was just blown away and decided to subscribe. I came to really love Cheryl’s way of articulating thoughts as I felt like I saw a lot of myself in how she presents her arguments and I found her to be very relatable. On top of that, pretty much all topics left the floor open to long discussions. And since this isn’t Twitter, character limits aren’t a problem. So, I could partake in these difficult topics to discuss and elaborate on my thoughts to articulate myself as best as possible! And one essay after another, it seemed like Cheryl and I really respected each others’ opinion and could have healthy, productive conversations on these more taboo/difficult topics. And what started off as me trying to figure out what had happened to Woojin turned into a beautiful friendship in my opinion! Cheryl has inspired me not only in the type of content I started adding to my own channel, but just as a person. I feel less afraid to speak my mind knowing that even if my opinions can be unpopular, they open the floor to bigger discussions that society has really been pushing off (and therefore, inhibiting on making true progress). Everyone always looks forwards to Fridays because of the weekend. I look forwards to Fridays because I know that my favorite content creator will be uploading something that I know I’m going to love! And the community created through these videos is so unprecedented. It’s nearly impossible to find a space where people of so many conflicting opinions can feel safe to voice their thoughts and not be afraid of being attacked. It’s even more rare for a content creator to not shy away from those arguing their own opinions and not just deleting comments to protect their ego.
Overall, I seriously want to thank you, Cheryl. Your channel has brought a lot of joy, happiness, and hope into my life that it was missing prior. You’re an amazing friend and I love dragging each other in the comments. You’re such a wonderful and beautiful gem of an individual that’s really made a lot of people’s lived better. I can’t express how much this has all meant to me! I love you with all of my heart and can’t wait for your channel to just explode in popularity! Keeping being you, because you’re incredible!

When this whole thing happened I DID NOT once believe those "victims". Every accusation that happens in the kpop industry are either trying to put down a certain group or just trying to bring attention to themselves. IT IS SO ANNOYING. Ik someone else commented something similar to this, but this rlly did made Stays look bad. This video needs to be seen more. I honestly find it so infuriating that he's being accused of being a self-centered person when in literally EVERY single Stray Kids video that I have watched, he is always giving the spotlight to the other members, asking them questions so that they get to talk more, so that they'd be noticed more, and never shares about himself unless asked about it. He's making sure each one of them gets the screentime they deserve. He can lead the conversation well when the members seem a bit sad or just blanked out on things to say. And people still have the nerve to accuse him of that? Disgusting. He does not deserve any of this hate.

honestly chan really puts a lot of faith into stays and while that is so nice that he trusts his fans that much honestly it really saddens me that most of the time stays don’t always have the best intentions and are very quick to jump to conclusions (which almost always ends bad). and this is honestly the reason we don’t have chan’s room anymore and i feel so bad because chan genuinely trusts us so much, only for those certain stays to go around and do these things that make chan regret putting that trust in us. woojin was my ult since predebut. all i ever saw was woojin loving his members - he was their big bro. I also noticed that woojin had always been targetted by solo stans/fake stays based on his appearance, singing style, dancing skill etc. of course all of skz has “haters” but woojin was definitely the most disliked. when woojin left, they jumped on board, glad to be able to finally bully him.
also i think it’s worth considering mental health in this topic. perhaps that was taken into consideration with woojin deciding to leave. maybe he just wasn’t “happy” in skz (even if he loved the members) and wanted to pursue a solo career that he had more control over. we know that woojin had been a trainee in multiple agencies - I think he was very firm on what he was aiming for professionally. kpoppies go around advocating for mental health awareness but fail to take it into consideration when they don’t personally like the person or until it’s too late.
I was in the wrong too. I did believe those rumours because I didn’t want to think that people could lie about these kinds of things. I was heartbroken thinking my ult was this kind of person. I tried to erase him. I’m starting to watch his content a bit more now - I feel tremendous respect for him and am glad he’s looking so happy these days.

First off, when Woojin responded to the rumors, there was a mistranslation and he wasn’t actually trying to promote his solo career. He even explained himself in an interview talking about the controversy. Secondly, I believe that he made the right decision to leave stray kids and now he is able to express himself more and show off his talent as a solo artist. And I believe he was really mistreated in JYP. And maybe, I don’t know but maybe Stray kids also mistreated him and just didn’t show it. As it seems they never really defended him. But maybe I am wrong and stray kids tried to protect him, I don’t know. Overall, this is the power of social media and social media is one of the main reasons people’s lives are ruined and are a living hell.

Instead of toxic STAY's literally attacking him and took this as an excuse to call him ugly, say they never liked him. I'm a new STAY and I had only knew recently about Woojin. I honestly feel bad for him, and how his own fans turned on him. It's not only about STAY's actions towards Woojin after he left the group and all that stuff happened, but it's also when Woojin was in the group. To be honest, there's nothing wrong with believing a potential victim. The problem lies in people thinking they have to exact revenge or that they have to play judge, jury and executioner on behalf of that victim, cause the word potential is still there.
The honest truth is they don't care about survivors. They don't care about victims. They just want to have a reason to destroy someone's life guilt-free. Because if you ask any of these people, what the outcome was for this so-called victim, where they are today, did they help them get Justice? What's their name? They can't tell you anything about this person, because they never actually cared about them in the first place.

While Im not a stan of Woojin, I was a Stay before ot8 era so I saw how Stays treated him. I know there are always unpopular members of groups, but Woojin had to be ONE of the worst cases Ive seen. (Think JHope before BTS got big) WJ had so many antis compared to other members, they would call him ugly, say that he cant dance, etc.
I was shocked when the SA accusations came out and I decided to step back from being a Stay because I saw how toxic some were. Sending death threats, saying he deserves to be SA, and much more. Then when it was proven that the accusations were just antis, stays refused to apologize.
The majority of stays refused to think they did anything wrong. They said things like, "he promoted his solo activity," when that was proven a mistranslation, or "he bullied the members," when either it was an accident (him hitting LK with the mic) or simply a misunderstanding (Felix asking to use the bathroom). Stays just cant seem like accept that they made a mistake.
I truly hope that Woojin continues to pursue his dream of being an idol. He deserves happiness after what happened to him.

Let me tell you first of all, the effort you and your team put into doing the research and create this video is great. Because the numerous yt accounts and Twitter pages who might have created weird toxic content about the artist haven't taken down anything yet, they just didn't mind destroying a person's life and career for clout. The enthusiasm in spreading hatred is not seen in asking for forgiveness or owning mistakes.

If the accusations come from Chinese fans, the words would spread on Weibo first.
