It's important to follow up on laws on Corporate Social Responsibility to ensure companies render their responsibilities. However, what happens to constituent allowances the law makers collect for their constituents? How do they apply it?

Please let the Honorables members be clear on the mandatory CSR law passed in Nigeria. In the past, projects were halted by government agencies stipulating that the funds for such projects, which a company or an individual intended to embark on, should instead be paid to the government to carry out the project.
I am unsure if the situation has changed since 2013 regarding the Sagamu-Ogijo Road, where the state government stopped WAPCO to repair a potion of thr Road. Also our church was stopped from filling potholes, insisting that we should pay the money to the local government, considering that approval should be sought first.
What has hindered CSR from being effective is corruption and project padding. The government uses overinflated pricing templates for executing projects. The prices of commodities, such as toilet rolls, pens, furniture, and many more, are not as they were to common nigerian.
Legislators should focus on ensuring that anyone found inflating project costs to exploit the country is jailed. We have a long way to go in making what should ordinarily work actually work. Corruption is a significant barrier.

It is not the duty of companies to provide basic amenities for the people or build roads. Currently, Nigerian companies are over taxed at 30% and several other burdens put on them. As against the UK corporate tax rate is 19%, just for he knowledge.
    This bill should be dumped.
