The difference is that the prv is a Midbass and the timpano is a Midrange that’s why the timpano is louder than the PRV. If you had 2 Midrange speakers then you would be able to tell which one is louder than the other or it would be a better comparison.

Its hard to choose between these two massive speakers. Yes Timpano took it away, but with PRV you can run it with a separate tweeter, Timpano got it all in one lol. Love from Guyana🇬🇾😌

Prv ftw. Midbass should play midbass. Otherwise just buy a coaxial. You can hear in the headphones that prv has alot more bass and low range. Prv makes a very purpose built speaker.

Ohm rating doesn't have anything to do w/ how loud a speaker can get. SPL/Sensitivity rating & RMS power together are more accurate to get an idea of how loud a speaker will be, when comparing in free air. However, there are other factors that can greatly affect the loudness of the speaker, your enclosure being the largest factor. Resistance of speakers is variable across each frequency & is mostly used to determine your system design & load to the amp. Now if you are comparing speaker's SPL/sensitivity rating, then you want to account for the ohm rating if the speaker is rated in "X ohms @ 1w/1m", when converting it to "X Ohms @ 2.83V/1m". If a speaker is "4 Ohms @ 1w/1m", to compare in "2.83V/1m" you will need to subtract 3dB from the SPL rating which is a more accurate measurement & puts all speakers on an even playing field, when converting to "2.83V/1m". Manufacturers have been found to use the "1w/1m" measurement to fluff their speaker specs to making people think they're getting more than they really are.

I think you must run this test with same type of speaker, I notice the Timpano has better quality sound but I would enjoy listening the same test with the Timpano TPT-MB8 instead that you put there TPT-MR8. As you know the MR8 is a mid range and the MB8 is a mid bass speaker. That would be fair to compare with the PRV 8MB450 you have there. I would prefer to listen how those speakers manage the bass frecuencies and of course the drum hits.

I’m not understanding where people say mr vs mb and one is 4 ohms and the other 8. They are both mb speakers. And 4 ohms. I have the prvs. And the timpano definitely takes the win

--Can you do more reviews like this? And play more techno and other types of music.
The PRV sounds better, esp. when playing Techno. Timpano sounds almost like full range Watching this again 3 yrs. later. Timpano sounds better, esp. for the price. run a nice tweeter crossed over properly and should sound amazing. And, compared to my 6" Faital Pro, the Timpano is def. better. The Faital Pro always blowout.
