    I did it the other way on my Vstrom 650. Got an aftermarket 51t rear with stock 15t front. VERY good. And I can easily go back to stock by switching to a 17t front and don't have to change the chain anymore.

    Not sure if that is normal, as you mentioned changing yours at only 20,000 km.

      Hello, with my previous bike, the honda cbr600fa PC41 from 2011, the chain and sprockets always were worn out at about 20.000 km.
      At this moment i have 22.000 km on the 650R and the chain is still good. But maybe i will be replacing it this year, at the end of the year. Spark plugs i will replace in 2.000 km (it is a 24.000 km maintenance item)

    If you change the Sproket, the ECU can not correct calculate the Speed. With the 14 Sprocket, the Dashboard will show a higher Speed as real.
    And the smaller Sproket will not help for better Accleration in the Gear 6 because the Ignition Timing limite the Power.

    • @The.JZA.
      @The.JZA. Před 7 měsíci +1

      Speed is usually calculated from the front wheel and what are you talking about with ignition timing? Changing the gearing ratio in this way increases rear wheel torque and therefore increases acceleration but reduces the top speed in each gear i.e. if you could go 110km/h in first at redline, with this change now you will only be able to do 102km/h. This will also slightly increase fuel consumption.

      @@The.JZA.
      A CBR650 calculate the Tacho Speed not from the Front Weel.
      You can cut off the ABS Fuse and you will see by yourself.
      The Speed is calculated by the ECU with Motor RPM, the Transmission, the Gear and the Reartyre.
      And in the ECU are different Mappings for Injection and Ignition by different Gears programmed.
      The most Power have the first 4 Gears and Gear 6 is an Overdrive Gear, long Transmission, late Ignitiontiming, less Fuelinjection.

    Has anyone had maybe 2 to 3mm play after fitting this to the cbr650 definitely got the correct one, i bought the standard one and also the -1, when fitting the -1 front there is lots of play left to right when torqued up properly, when putting the new standard one on it fits perfectly with no play at all, even tried turning it around the wrong way and its the same, any ideas? Dont like the idea of that movement on the shaft with the -1

      Hello, i have done a few tests before and after replacing the front sprocket.
      Original
      50km/h on dash = 45 on GPS
      70 = 65
      90 = 84
      With the front sprocket changed
      70 km/h on dash = 63 km/h on GPS
      90 = 75 on GPS
      Top speed i did not test. I will do so in spring or summer time on german autobahn.
      JT sprockets does provide 14 / 15 / 16 for the front for this bike, so it is no problem to do so.

      I actually only notice that he accelerates faster. I suspect that I shift slightly earlier than with the original ratio. But I myself had no problem with choosing which gear to enter a corner in either ratio. It should only have 25 to 30 hp more and a little less vibration in the steering wheel, sometimes my right elbow hurts. Driving many kms in a few days.

      At the gent moto meeting one week ago i asked the honda dealer when the cbr600rr will be back. He said, ask me questions i can answer. (the cbr1.000rr is overkill for me) so the 600RR you could not buy anymore from 2017 (last year you could buy it new in europe was 2016) Because of emissions. This 95hp is not enougd, new exaust only gains 3hp, so that is not worth the 1,2K€.
      Buth indeed it is a beautifull bike, everyone tells me also. But 120 or 130hp is ideal.
