You did an amazing job considering that girls that CAN do this have been training their whole life to get it perfect. Most girls I don't think can do this. It's legit, you have to push through the pain in your arms and hold on until you get to your shoulders, you can safely rest there if you need to. Great video Brad!

Thank you so much for trying out these braiding styles. My hair is down almost to the back od my knees, I’m also nearly 70! I usually use do a low pony tail, braid it in a basic 3 strand braid then turn it into a cinnamon bun. These fancier braids are so much prettier but I think your attempt at trying the braids is still so much better than mine but you saved me the painful arms and allowed me several moments of giggles. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!THANK YOU! Enjoy your channel a lot!

Btw it always hurts just lean forward a little to help with blood flow! I always get annoyed when my arms start going numb because I like tight braids
I always have to take breaks and lean my arms against a wall/sofa/chair/etc otherwise I wouldn't ever finish because I would just give up

i can french braid my own hair but it took me a while to do it flawlessly. also, you didn't do that bad for the first time doing it on yourself. you did really well!

i know that no one will read this comment cause it's 2 years late, but here it is. it's easier for me to braid my own hair, than someone else's. the middle strand will always fall under your other two, thus not being in the way and i know just how hard i can pull on my own head, versus someone else's.
i wasn't able to braid it at first - duh - but while i was in high school, i'd be sitting in class, listening to the teacher and i'd start french braiding it, undoing it and braiding it again, over and over. i'd close my eyes and visualize what i was doing. and i got really good at it. i can't actually do it while watching in a mirror, cause that will mess me up. i use a mirror to glance once in a while, just to make sure i'm keeping the path of the braid that i want.
then i tried a dutch braid - what you have in this video - and i came to the conclusion that i like it even better, cause i can make it even tighter and it doesn't come undone as easily.
then a fishtail - easier to do it as a simple fishtail braid than a "french" fishtail braid, where you constantly add. not impossible, just not as easy and doesn't stay as tight.
i also ventured into 5 strand braids and zipper braids - really loved doing those when i had longer hair. the best was people's reactions when they see it and i tell them that i did it myself. and when i show them how i do it, they be like "i have no idea what you're doing and even less so on how you're able to do it on yourself". it was a hoot!
and lastly, miss thing in the original video tutorial is doing a good job, but it's harder to showcase braids on darker hair. i've had both black and blonde hair and it's much easier to see on light hair. oh, and yes, while a *slightly* damp hair will make for less fly-aways, it's actually harder to braid wet hair than dry one. so brad, next time, don't wet your wig.
The moment when you realized your braid was coming together made me so happy! I just learned how to braid my hair in the last few weeks, and that was my reaction too! The movement is so awkward on yourself, but it's so easy once you get the hang of it! I actually have more hair (thickness, not necessarily length) than the wig, so I really feel your pain.

It took me a ton of practice to braid my own hair. I kept doing one french and one dutch braid and could not figure out why 😂 i was holding my hair differently so it was braiding differently 🤦🏼♀️ shocker.

The bamboo brush, I had for many years. I had 18+inches long hair and super curly, twas amazing even with clipins hair extensions, worked also amazingly on my nieces hairs that are nappy! My dominican friend fell in love with it too and bought the whole family too.... works amazing on any hair types, goes quick to blow dry as well but doesn’t lift the roots.

I learned how to braid in the shower and omgggg. It took forever but now I can basically braid in my sleep. I would actually Dutch braid on the bus on my way to school with no mirror. Also your braids look so much better than when I first tried. 😂🤦🏽♀️

It happens to me just the opposite! I can do my hair but doing other people’s hair it’s a struggle, so difficult to me! Also if your arms start to hurt from breading your own hair try to put your elbows a little lower for a couple seconds it does help, a lot! Love you brad ❤️

Your braid was too loose and I think that was the problem!!
I think he also messed up a part of the first braid when he changed the position of his hands. Happened to me a lot when my hair got too long to french braid it without changing the position of my hands.
TheHappyWavePacket ooo yeah that makes sense... I was wondering what that was and your explanation definitely makes sense... When I do mine sometimes changing my arms around makes me do the same strand twice in a row which causes it to spin around
