    Here’s a little tip for more storage. You can purchase risers for your bed at Bed Bath and Beyond (or other places). The risers are like 4 to 6 inches. This will create an area to store many things. Use plastic bins under the bed to keep things easy accessible and organized.

      Yes I did this when I first got pregnant, didn’t want to live with anyone but couldn’t afford something huge unserved storage is perfect!

      I was going to recommend under bed storage too! They have a kind that rolls under the bed and they seal well in moist climates.

      I use them for my desk which is actually one of those plain white tabletops from Ikea with the white screw on legs. I needed it higher to fit my rolling cart. 🙂 Those risers are the best, they have round ones and square ones, and now they even have them in other colors besides black. 😉

      I have a platform bed that has 6 very large baskets underneath. 2 on each side and 2 on the end. I can’t help but think this would be a great bed for a studio apt. If you have the floor space for a queen bed.

      You can get large wood cutting board to fit over sink. Got that idea from another apartment tour. I also live in a medium - large studio. Probably more medium. Have large kitchen can fit 27-30 in metal pub table that fits stools. My studio is large enough to not feel cramped. I have 2 windows. I really like my studio. Storage is a very big problem & getting rid of things I don’t really need but not ready to let go. Nice tour

    Your dresser should be a easy fix.
    You need to take out drawers, turn dresser upside down. My guess is that the foundations woods that supports the dresser have cracked.
    Measure for pieces that are damage go to home depot with measurements and pictures of the dresser underside. When home you will need to remove damage wood and replace with new pieces.
    I think your dad would be the perfect person to assist you with the Manuel labor 😊

    Living alone as a young single woman is one of the best pleasures in life. I remember my first apartment - small as heck old as heck - but I loved it. Have lived in bigger and much more expensive places including a real house and then with family - all good but living alone as a young gal was so so so fun. Enjoy it!

  • @tlm8436

    The clear chair is actually very good in a small space as you can see through it and it doesn't seem to clutter the space up. Clear shower curtain, I use one and they are like less than 4 at Walmart. If you wanted more natural light in the bathroom, they make these frosted blocks that measure 8 x 6 x 3" and you can stack them on top of each other. Depending on how wide your window is you could effectively buy enough to fill the window and get lots of natural light and privacy as well. Wish I could upload a pic here. I just found some on-line at Lowes, this one is a kit for 10 Pk for $132 OR you can buy frosted window film for a bit cheaper. The one I saw was 36" x 78" and it's cut-to-fit for $45. There are options for both the blocks and the film. I see storage on top of your kitchen cabinets too but you'd see the stuff and you'd need a foldable stool to get to the stuff and you could hide that under bed. I like the bed-riser idea. I have risers under my couch. I tell ya, if you walk through a Lowes/Home Depot or any hardware type store, you can get all kinds of ideas. Thrift stores are awesome too. Your palette is endless. What you've done looks GREAT, Reese!!

  • @nancisailormoy9135
    @nancisailormoy9135 Před 2 lety +10

    You’ve done a great job setting it all up in your style. I have a kitchen window that I feel like people can see into so I put decorative window film on the lower half which allows light in and helps feel safer. Also the thrift store can be a great place to pick up things you need at great prices. You can also buy a behind the door organizer ( it hangs on the door) for all your misc stuff and I even keep my underwear and socks right there where I need them.

    Love your studio apt. Reminds me of mine in 1972. Mine was hippy vibe back then. Haha!✌💞I've been refurbishing old furniture for 45 years. I can tell you now that your dresser would have fallen apart...movers or not. They just don't make furniture like the use to. Your best bet would be to find a cheap used dresser and refurbish it yourself. You could make a video about it. Give it a boho vibe. You could buy a dresser and all the supplies to refurbish it for around a $150 and it would last you forever. Measure the space it would go at before you start searching. I have a good suggestion for the type of dresser that would look gorgeous boho vibed up that would match your big mirror frame. An antique oak dresser from 1900-1920. You could refurbish it in your local friends basement and use chalk paint as your main paint for just the frame of the dresser like in black and leave the drawer fronts original wood color. (A metallic paint would be boho vibe.) Then use wax afterwards. You could also get a transfer in a boho vibe to add to the front. You could refurbish it in segments and just spend a few hours a day for 3 days. If interested watch some video's on chalk painting dressers on CZcams. Then you'll have a prized piece of furniture to keep forever that will not fall apart like furniture does this day and time. ✌😊

    Hi Reese, awesome job with your cute little apartment. It's nice to have a small space and decorate to your liking instead of having a large apartment full of stuff you really don't need. May I suggest for more space in the kitchen for chopping and preparing food go to either Lowes/Home Deport or a store that sells pull out shelf similar to back in the old days with the ironing board pulled out from the wall. It would allow you space then when you are finished with it, you just pull it up to the wall. Blessings from Virginia.

    there is a way to fix the dresser: get a brick or two and put it underneath, in the middle, exactly as you said. It looks like a very nice piece, and is probably heavy, which is why it is collapsing. I actually think that if you take out all the drawers and then put the dresser on its head, you might find there was sthg there originally which supported the structure and the weight, and this is what the movers destroyed.

    I love your style, girl! Nice job! One little thing though... Salt lamps are so cool, people (including me) love them, but keep Jojo away from it! Cats are sometimes drawn to them, and will lick them...which is very unhealthy for them. A friend of mine caught her cat doing that, and he developed a severe illness called salt toxicity. It's that curiosity thing... but salt lamps are also toxic to dogs... Jojo is so adorable, I'd hate to see him get sick.
