Hi guys! Today we will be changing the valve cover gasket on our BMW F10. There has been quite a bit of leaking and now it has deteriorate to having a lot of smoke. I decided to try this after seeing some CZcamsrs doing it on their car haha! Links to the items are in the description down below.

Was the CCV Diaphram Torn? That was a lot of oil out @10:24 ! Subscribed for the positive attitude!
Hi Miller! Nope it's not. It was oil that was accumulated near the ignition coils recessed area from the leaking valvetronic gasket. That was leaking too! So far so good till this day haha. Thanks for the subscription! 🙇♂️
my 528i last mth had the same changed the whole Valve Cover & Gasket

Hi Danny. Why did you have to change both the value cover and gasket? Isn't value cover rarely has problem?

Hello! I finally managed to replace the valve cover gasket but got smoke just as you. Which one is the breather hose you mention in the end?
Hi Augustin! The breather hose is the one at the back of the engine. It is near the windshield wiper.

Hi, did you apply any silicone between the valve cover and engine to help with sealing or you placed the valve cover directly on the engine?

It seems that you are struggling to get a few screws back, how can you remove some parts on the way?

I mean back screws(e10), do you think the flexible wrench will work or need remove some parts in windshield area? Thanks
@@charlesliu5082 will need the flexible wrench and also the removal of windshield part. It'll make the job much easier.
I have the same issue till it came out “DRIVETRAIN”. And MY ECU was change 1 year back brand new, and a new spark plug. Now then i realise it was a gasket issue. But sad hear a bubbling sound on my exhaust plus my exhaust is stock not sure what would be the issue😢

Hi AccordJDM! BMWs if maintained properly is just as reliable as any other car in the market. It has been a wonderful 3 years of ownership. Never left me stranded and has been to quite a few places :)

Hi Agustin. It is actually gasket sealant. It is to keep the gasket in place when I attach the valve cover back to the engine.
what’s your fuel consumption on your 523i? RON 95 or 97?
Hi Jerseys! I'm on Ron 97 and getting around 550km for a full 70 litres tank. Usually works out to slightly lower than 8km per litre. You're on a 523i as well? 2.5 or 3.0?

@@jerseyspatches6420 316i will definitely be more efficient in that sense. Size and comfort also will have difference though.
Do you have to disconnect the battery to change valve cover gasket

@@AliAbbas-pb7eo I believe it is safer to do so and its really easy to disconnect your battery.

Not gasket problem,plastic cover is problem ,just put aluminum
Yo that’s the valve cover. Just buy the whole thing.
