    Thanks for the video. Nice to review prior to taking on the crankset swap. Curious about the portion around the 9:00 mark- I noticed there's no mention of spacers anywhere. I have an 8120 crankset with an XTR chainring on a 73 threaded bb with Boost spacing. Is there supposed to be a spacer installed (after you've done up the lockring) onto the direct mount chainring (in addition to the non-drive side spacer installed onto the bb)? Shimano installation seems to indicate so- (Ref. Page 29 of Shimano installation instructions) and two spacers were included with my XT crankset.

    • @antc5010
      @antc5010 Před 8 měsíci

      I'm assuming your setup is x1. With 8120's I think your chain line is 55mm and Q Factor 178. Depending on the type of BB you may need spacers. My old SLX M7120-1 with standard Shimano BB-MT800-P requires a 3mm spacer either side of the BB. I've swapped out to a M7100-1 to reduce the chain line to 52mm, matching the boost (148mm) 12 speed cassette. The change didn't require spacers and sorted the dropping of the chain on large cogs during back pedalling on techie rocky climbs.
