    Best video I've seen for doing a valve adjustment. Thank you very much.

    Thank you very much for this. FYI, the tappet clearance is given in the Yamaha manual that comes with the bike now.

    Very informative videos. Dont suppose you can do a valve adjustment video for the MT 01 down the road?

    Hey all of my left hand controls quit working on my bike. No horn, signals, headlight or hi/lo switch. Signals don't show up on the gauge cluster. Brake light doesn't come on. Daily running lights work. Tail light is on, and marker lights up front

    Thanks, Dan. I wanted to know the difference in valve adjustment between the Yamaha Bolt and the Honda Rebel (shim-over-bucket with a shiftable follower).

    Did you drain the oil before removing the crank cover?

    How much did the valve adjustment help with the ticking. My wife also has one and i dont care if they “just do that” theres too much slop in the valves, i know it

    Hi Dan, any videos on how you check your belt tension? I am using Sealey VSE110 cheers

      Haven't done that yet. But I think you just adjust like a chain using marks on the belt guard while keeping the wheel on the ground

  • @VeneerSlinger

    All fuses checked out fine

    • @biker_dan
      @biker_dan  Před 3 lety

      Sounds like it could be an earthing problem,, one earth strap connects to all the switches on that side of the handlebars. Have you been doing anything with the battery? maybe moved a wire or maybe an earth has slackened off? Check battery earth strap, see if that is the problem,,

    • @VeneerSlinger
      @VeneerSlinger Před 3 lety

      @@biker_dan I havnt done anything with the battery. I'll check the main ground. Are the ground for those controls somewhere else or is it all grounded to the battery

    • @biker_dan
      @biker_dan  Před 3 lety

      @@VeneerSlinger It is all grounded to the battery, it does sound like an earth is off somewhere for alll those controls not to be working,,, or something has disconnected somewhere

      @@biker_dan I've only found 2 people with similar situations. Both said they went to yamaha dealer for reprogramming. Everything I've checked so far says it should be working

    Thank you Dan. Unrelated question - what brand and model is the windshield on your Bolt and is it one that's easy to put on/off without needing tools? I like how unobtrusive it is - I assume you're happy with it.

    • @biker_dan
      @biker_dan  Před rokem

      Yes it is a good screen but you need brackets to fit it. Cheap eBay brackets for fitting headlight did the trick. The brand on it says Nasty, think it came from France,.

    I Did mine like 3 weeks ago but I can hear loud tapping in the rear cylinder, the noise wasn’t there before the valve adjustment, I’m gonna have to do it again, how many times can I reuse the o-ring/seals from the valve covers?

    • @biker_dan
      @biker_dan  Před rokem

      As many times as you want as long as they are not damaged

  • @coltonj68
    @coltonj68 Před 3 lety

    Hey man I’m having a lot of trouble with this . Mainly finding the TDC for each side i tried the H side for the piston 1 and the dash by itself for piston 2 and have loud tapping noise . I thought that was right ?

    • @biker_dan
      @biker_dan  Před 3 lety

      The mark next to H is for the front cylinder, the mark on its own is for the rear cylinder. When you get the mark aligned the valves on that cylinder should be slack for adjusting,, if aany of them are tight then you need to rotate the flywheel a complete turn.

    • @coltonj68
      @coltonj68 Před 3 lety

      Maybe that’s what my problem was i thought they were supposed to be tight with no play before you adjusted them I’ll let you know how it goes thanks a lot!!!
