Prince live in concert, one of the greatest things I’ve witnessed 6 times! When he died , not only did I morn the man and his music, I mourned the fact that I would never see him live again ….🙏🏾

@junior115391 It was incredible. I went right after his passing. You could feel his presence everywhere. We went in studio B where he recorded most of his music and they played an unreleased track. There was a room dedicated to Purple Rain. It had the motorcycle and the Purple piano. You could see the scuff marks from him dancing on top if it. The diner had food prepared by his chef that he ate. You should really go but make sure you do the ultimate package. I also went to the house where scenes from Purple Rain was filmed and I went to First Avenue.

Ugh I miss this era when a new Prince album dropped and every song was so unique
I started listening to Prince when I was 11 years old when 1999 came out. I was hooked from then on. My favorite songs were always the ones that weren’t conventional mainstream pop sounding.
He was so talented, he understood human sexuality and could hold the line between temptation and mystery perfectly. Todays artist don’t understand this, everything is just in your face, it’s too much and no longer sexy. Prince just knew… plus he wrote poetry in music form. From the sound to the lyrics to his voice.
But there was always a sense of true spirituality too. It normalized the way humans struggle with sex and being spiritual. Today we’ve lost that and just gave into what feels good. Prince struck a balance which made you think. I’m very thankful he wove God into his music in a way that always helped me to stay connected to Holy Spirit and not just the pleasures of the world.
He definitely weaved traits of the human experience that many people even today can’t even fathom coexisting. He showed us what a truly enlightened point of view can look like and the beauty that it can create. Without passion there is no life, and he more than anyone infused us with it.
I HAD to like this cause I truly get a kick out of seeing the younger generation discovering how dope of an artist Prince was! Dude was beyond talented! Like you said “this generation could never” and I couldn’t agree with you more.💯
You’re right! This song was ahead of its time and the groove is so funky. This video is from his concert film “Sign ‘O’ the Times”. This album is arguably his most critically acclaimed. I believe you previously reacted to “Adore” which is also on this album.

Prince has so many gems to discover. IMHO he is the greatest artist… he’s a modern Mozart. Genius. Miss his presence here on earth. 💜 O(+>
Prince was soooo “clever.” He played on our intelligence from all levels and directions. I’m just 3 years older than he was and when he first started out we all thought he was “gay.” Man did he play on that. You could not deny his music because it was so different and new. When that album first came out, it’s solidified our minds and thinking yes he’s finally come out. Then you buy the album specifically for that song and you want to hear what it is that he’s gonna say, then he relays it to us all and he’s pretending or wish to be his girlfriend best friend. Man that is total genius, he played us all. That’s when you really knew that this guy was a pure Mozart.

fun fact...this song was originally supposed to be released as prince's female alter ego, camille, hence the female perspective (girlfriend) and the pitched up voice on the album version (not this live version). the original unreleased version is slightly different, too.

This is from a concert movie, Sign ’O The Times, arguably one of the best concert movies of all time. A must-see. But yeah, this song is unbelievable, surely among his very best. Written for his girl at the time, Susannah Melvoin, his guitarist Wendy Melvoin’s twin sister.

TLC covered this track on their Crazy Sexy Cool album in 1994, 6 years after he released it on Sign O' The Times double album in 1988. A lot of TLC fans didn't know it was written and recorded by Prince. He covered so many genres on every album he released, that many casual fans and Black consumers without broad music taste and expecting straight R&B, weren't really into multi genres of music stopped buying his albums after Purple Rain. Meanwhile, every album he dropped had several gems on them.

Prince, was always on point with his songs, his music hit different my older sister LOVED PRINCE and she played all his stuff the me. But if you go down prince rabbit hole to react just a warning to you 85% of his music is real spicy. If I'm not mistaking Prince he started the warning label of explicit language on the album.
I saw Prince a bunch of times. Each one was a different experience. He was a once in a lifetime artist.

I saw Prince live in concert in Jackson Mississippi 1997. I screamed like a little girl (I was a married heterosexual male 26 years of age) and could not talk the next day. I kept telling myself I would see Prince again before I die. I can't finish this...

I miss Prince, Im disappointed I didn't get a funeral, I wanted closure but he was a Jehovah's Witnesses. I looked it up Aretha Franklin gave us 9 hour's and she is from Detroit her body was at African American Museum in Detroit. Prince didn't have to make it long but give his fans something.

Prince was too talented at a time when talent was a basic requirement. Super Talented people often say he's on a different level. When he would come around these kids they would break out with the smiles that hurt your face, they know he's something different. Hell, you could base your swag or sound on 1 small segment of his career. D'Angelo is an homage to Prince's 1986-87' output.
