She is the best female singer in the world. The difference between LeAnn Rimes and someone like Mariah Carey is LeAnn captivates you in a moment. Mariah may have the range but LeAnn captures the emotion which is far more important.

I honestly think she slurs words together a bit too much. Some lyrics can be quite difficult to make out. Still an incredible voice, though. I've liked her music (and sung along with it) since I was little.

Yep. I was thinking that there are very few people who can sing like that with the hint of country twang, the power game, the professional polish and of course that incredible tone. LeAnn Rimes was the main one that came to mind. I had a slight doubt it might be Katharine McPhee trying to sound more like her, but it surely had to be the one and only LeAnn.

I thought it was Jessica Andrews :) whose singing always somewhat resembled Leann Rimes in my mind, though not as strong. I didn't realize what a range she has. She was hitting looow alto notes, like where you'd normally expected a man to sing. Then she'd be well into soprano territory. And it was all crystal clear. Beautiful, powerful voice from a gorgeous woman.

Yeah, she's got a very unique voice and style of singing that is very reminiscent of classic female country voices like Patsy Cline. In classic country, even with female singers, songs weren't written with a ton of upper range, so even sopranos of the genre typically were singing at the lower ends of their comfort zone. So that's how they were taught and where they focused on embellishing their vocal tone in that lower and middle register. Even Dolly, a (debated) spinto soprano, a very rare and distinctly high variant of the soprano vocal type, never even came close to breaching the limits of her upper range in her music. So these classic country and folk singers were trained to and focused on embellishing and refining their voice in those lower-to-middle ranges and keys. Whereas in most pop, alternative, and rock music, both then and now, singers typically focused on either their upper ranges or whatever is most comfortable to them to showcase their best vocal capabilities. Rarely do you see the case of soprano singers really focused on showcasing their lower ranges in their songs as it was more common amongst those classic female country artists, those music history now, so it creates this really unique quality in the voice that most aren't familiar with hearing today. Lana del Rey is another example of this. A likely soprano singer like Leann putting a sharp focus into molding her lower and mid vocal tones and thus creating this instantly-recognizable, distinct voice. That being said, it's only an added bonus that her upper register and belting capabilities are still unphased and although not overused in her music, really add a layer of contrast and are a testament to her capabilities. Her head voice is divine and are a standout amongst even the most esteemed soprano singers. Truly one of the greats and one of the most underrated female voices of all time. Just a shame that affair scandal kind of halted her career. Even at around 30 she had almost 20 years in the business. Not necessarily supporting what she did, but shit, that would be mild and easily overlooked today--a marital affair. Even then, that was hardly even newsworthy for a celebrity. But man did it ruin her for some reason, they gave her the full on Dixie Chicks treatment.
Leeann just outsung every original singer of those songs... she is far more vocally tallented than 90% of the industry today!

Well that's because there's the average singers like Billie Elish, Katy Perry etc and then there's people like Miss Rimes, Adele, lady gaga, Whitney Houston etc who are so far ahead in terms of talent and range that they really need a chart of their own so everyone else has a chance

Why are people saying she has gone away? She released an album in 2020. In the last 10 years she has released 5 studio albums, a live album, a remix album, a greatest hits and 3 christmas albums. Plus she is currenty recording a new album.

I knew who she was the second she open her mouth and sang the first note, I watched this child grow up and saw her perform on Star Search when she was about 7 or 8 years old. She has such a distinct voice that I can't imagine anyone confusing her with other singers like Gwyneth Paltrow or Kate Hudson, or even Katherine McVee or Demi Lovato. She's just so unique in her own sound, passion, and performance. LeAnn still cranks out the hits in my opinion and if the rest of the world can't see what they're missing then shame on them. She's a spectacular vocalist and songwriter.
Same. Over 25 years I’ve loved her. I didn’t hear her until Blue came out (I was about 7 at that time) and I grew up obsessing over her music. My walls were covered in magazine clippings and posters of her. Not a chance in the world could this woman have fooled me. I could probably have told you it was her if they’d altered her singing voice just by the her vocal mannerisms.

I love when a artist puts their entire heart and soul into their songs they sing and she does it every single time she sings. She jas the ability even when wearing the mask to make you feel every word and and emotion. When she was singing Billy Ellish's song acapella it was beautiful and haunting and I found myself holding my breath. There is nothing she can't sing. She is absolutely amazing and one of thee best voices/singer this world has ever known or at least since I've been born and that was 46 years ago. She is just as strong if not stronger than when she first hit the music scene at 13.

I am pretty certain they lip-sync on the show to their pre-recordings - if people were to sing with a mask on, you’d hear their voice sound weird (ever talk with a mask on? Your voice sounds odd when doing it). Her singing unmasked also looked lip-synced.
I felt that she was having so much fun in every performance. Glad she took this challenge. Hope she makes a good comeback.
Every time one of the judges says "this is one of the best performances we've ever seen on this stage" I immediately think, "well, yeah....but it's not the sun!" I still think about her performance of "when the party's over" 2 years later!

She has such a huge range. I remember watching her on Star Search. So glad she did not go the way of many young performers. She had some hiccups along the way, but I believe cutting back her performance schedule may have actually allowed her voice to mature naturally without undue stress.
