  • Ground beef is pressure-canned, and the rendered tallow is used to make soap. Preserved beef is used to prepare a beef and tomato dish.
Using a Presto 16-quart pressure canner (Stock No. 0175510).

Beautiful video! I love making soap, and just made tallow from my hamburger last night. I melted it down tonight and strained it. My plans are to make some lip balms and lotion bars with my tallow.

Do you put anything in the soap.... antibacterial, antiseptic, or anything else? Thank you!

@@noragriffin6432No, im not a cosmetic manufacturer. My soaps are natural. Oils, butter and lye. I add skin goodies, but Fl laws are strict on any claims of antibacterial properties of soap. It then becomes a cosmetic which requires testing and all sorts of drama. Pure soap is just that-soap.

I couldn't help but thinking about Fight Club while watching you making soap from tallow... then, you made spaghetti meat sauce.

question. why did you fill jars to top and then suck some out instead of just filling to the right level the first time? im trying to learn about canning meat.

To get excess fat out of the jar, which floats to the top. That does get me a little more tallow, but the main reasons are that too much fat in the jar can: prevent correct sealing of the lid; go rancid; protect bacterial endospores from the heat.

@@msbrunell What type of liquid did you add to the meat? And was it room temperature or hot?
