Now is the perfect time to do a sequel/reboot. Van Damme is just a couple of years older than Stallone was when he did Rocky Balboa in 2006. Just keep it realistic and inspirational and I think it'll do great!

Daniel directed short movie "Fetch" with David Leitch as lead. And this shortmovie was good. He was fight coordinator/choreographer in Creed 2 and Nobody. + he is part of 87Eleven Action team. This team gave us good action directors (who was stuntguys) - Chad Stahelski, David Leitch, Sam Hargrave + Larnell Stovall and JJ Perry. yeah now he might be a good choice for at least action director or second unit director or role as fight coreographer.
But this story is about almost 20 years ago. But back than he didnt had the experience and all. I am sure he got offered a few things but his Ego more than his greed, i dont think greed played much of a role here, got the best of him. Sure he felt a bit betrayed but you need to be realistic.
Back then also it was all about cinema release. Almost no one rly cared about a Direct to Video release, this would have been led to if Daniel got his will.
Today is a different story, because if not for Cinema it could still be good Movie for Netflix, Amazon STarz or whatever with a big enough Budget that it feels like a lower End Cinema Release.

No one would say hey let's let Daniel Bernhardt direct let alone star, seriously, it would never get any kind of distribution of alone box office.

Look how good a director Stahelski has turned out to be. Bernhardt could be another great director in waiting. He definitely has the experience to be given a shot.
I think a lot of Stunt guys who have second unit directing experience can be given a chance.
Me personally, I would encourage them to try Jesse V Johnson (avengement, debt collectors). That guy has some excellent directing experience and output.

I was a fan of his from the first two Bloodsport sequels (the third is seriously cheap), but I went off him when the Bloodsport reboot fell apart, as I remember reading Sheldon’s updates on the Van Damme fan forum, where he basically said it was Daniel’s ego that killed it. Still, I’m glad to see he’s still getting decent roles.

A Bloodsport sequel would be awesome they wrote in with some similarities to Rocky IV and V mixed. Where maybe Van Damme is too old to fight and he's training a young fighter, but the young fighter is killed in some way, either in the ring or by some goons outside the ring, then Van Damme has to raise through the ranks as an old man like the 2006 Rocky.

Daniel Bernhardt. Could have played a Chong Lee, type of villain. That would be a significant role for him to play. That would have been good!

You're absolutely right 💯 we don't want to see anyone else starring in bloodsport other than van Damme. I'm afraid Daniel just doesn't have the charisma and screen presence to pull it off but that's just my opinion. BTW you're an absolute genius with your editing with the lines, you get nothing, you lose, good day sir. Also the line, you stubborn stupid silly man had me in tears laughing. What a sense of humour 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

In all honesty Bloodsport 2 was a pretty good movie but obviously if you're going to produce a new Bloodsport everyone wants Van Damme as the lead and I'm not surprised it didn't happen in the end.

I'm wondering why they didn't at least offer Bernhardt the main villain role to get the movie made? A final fight between JC & Bernhardt 20 years ago could have been a really good one since Bernhardt is a really good fighter & Van Damme was still fairly young at the time to do more than he can nowadays.

Wasn't Lady Bloodfight some kind of remake of Bloodsport? There are few references here and there.
Imagine Bernhardt and Van Damme in the same Bloodsport movie, Alex Cardo and Frank Dux kicking the shit out of each other.

I don't have respect for van Damme, since knowing of his lifestyle. I've seen other people from southern Belgium who act exactly like him. Bad mentality. That being said, Daniel Bernhard must be respected for his Bloodsport movies. We get caught up with individuals in movies and can't think outside of that. I've not seend BS2 or 3,4,5 but I'm looking forward to it. And FRANK DUX is the man who created the story for BS! Love him before anyone else!

I actually didn't mind bloodsport 2. Go's to Thailand steals a sword meant for winner of the next kumite. Gets arrested and betrayed from a friend. Ends up in a thai prison. Learns the iron hand technique from a martial arts master he's meets in prison. Uses it in the kumite and wins. But 3 and 4 for a bit average I thought. But sheldon lettich should definitely been able to make a bloodsport reboot. Great director. Another great video from Viking samuri
