I can't imagine someone watching this movie and being on Hallie berry's side
I don't and will NEVER understand how this did so poorly in theaters. This needs to be re-released in this new era. This movie is very good and very powerful. I will watch it again and again and again.
I remember watching this film and being so upset at the verdict. I can understand giving visitation to the biological mother but to full on strip him away from the people he calls his family? It hurt. And then they show that he doesn’t want to be in his new environment because it’s not with his family. I know that his bio mom loved him and regret leaving him but to full on take him away was wrong
my mother named me isaiah because of this movie😆
She left her baby for dead and still got full custody! Only in America
Just seeing this for the first time, looks amazing. As an adopted Asian, this hits me hard.
I saw this movie 20yrs ago. Hate how Halle's character got him back. That should never happen. You give your child up without an open adoption, you should have to live with that consequence until they're 18, unless the child's adoptive home is abusive. My parents fostered children (some still consider us their family) and they all wish they'd have gotten to stay with us. Letting them go is so hard!
I dunno if she was a real mother she'd let him stay with the family who cared for him. Get her life together and ask for visitation
This isn’t about color. This is about a choice. His birth mother made a choice. Giving birth to a child doesn’t give you 100% access and 100 chances. The fact that this still happens is just sad
My husband has been in a custody dispute with his children's mother for the past three years. In the midst of which, she forfeited her rights and gave them to a family four states away. His daughters have been told he's dead, but he's been stuck in litigation. The courts move much slower in real life. Delay, after delay, after delay, navigating jurisdiction. This story is heartbreaking, and more common than you might think. It is a painful thing, being separated from your child. This is such a touching movie.
Any mother that leaves her kid in a trash isn't fit to be called her mother
"So only you can save him? You're the great white hope?"
I remember watching this years and years ago. Love this movie
This is a really good movie. Way more complex characters and plot lines than the trailer suggests. Worth watching.
The first time watching this movie was like the late 90s mostly the ending of the movie, have not seen it until around 2021 I was looking into videos of old commercials and saw a tv spot of this movie, that's when my memories of this movie came back to me. It happens when you see something years ago you quickly forget about it but once you see something familiar it comes back to you.
If you put a gun to my head and told me to spell Isaiah to live , I’d be gone
FINALLY! Been trying to find this movie for almost 20 years, since I only watched it ones way back in 2003
That soundtrack takes me really back to the 90 s
2 years clean ain't much time, however from the stance of an addict? It is.
just watched this tonight with my neighbor Paul. My mom lent me the DVD. And it was very thrilling and dramatic. I thought it was good.
