    1. Eubank took this fight at 10 days notice when Collins pulled out and showed tremendous spirit. Whatever you may think of Eubank, he was a warrior in the ring and a gentleman to boot. A class act.
    2. Calzaghe has absolutely no reason to go toe to toe in the final rounds, being miles ahead but he always did go for the K.O no matter what. Calzaghe went unbeaten his whole career, no draws, all wins and is truly one of the world's greatest but I still feel he doesn't get the respect he should. He ducked no one and beat em all. Go kid!
    3. You look at today's so called world champs and they're all ducking one another, blaming one another. They need to take a leaf out of these guys books, who just got on with it. The only downside is I think Calzaghe didn't earn anywhere near what he should have done and his promoter should be ashamed of that.

Joe's career is nice for British fans to look at, but doesn't stand up to close scrutiny, ie the fact that he refused to fight outside the UK meant that US champions only fought him when their US fans no longer found them good enough to watch, and his wins against RJJ and Hopkins, when he finally came out of the UK to fight, came long past either man's prime.

Over here Calzaghe wasn't thought of very highly until later in his career. Some were never convinced that he was a top level fighter but I was impressed with him the first time I saw him fight. When he began to fight the best in the division he handled all of them very well. In fact, some of them didn't know how to deal with him at all, Jeff Lacy a good example.
Calzaghe is deceiving in that he's fairly tall and slim, and his punches don't appear to pack much power behind them. His hand speed and accuracy are what had everyone fooled. He would routinely land 3 out of 4 punches in a blur and the speed was providing the power in his punch. Getting hit several times very quickly, over and over round after round has an effect on anyone's chin. You can't counter punch him very effectively because he lands a flurry quickly and he's gone or leans back before you can return fire. He has one flaw in which he tends to hang in the pocket too long when he's dominating a guy and he gets caught sometimes in those instances.
All Calzaghe ever did was beat the hell out of everyone they put in front of him. In spite of that he was steadily criticized regarding a lack of punching power. I saw him hurt many guys despite the claims that he slapped instead of punching. I'm more impressed with his 46-0 record than with Floyd's 50-0 record by far. Floyd was king of the cherry pickers and had several questionable things going on during his career. Calzaghe had no such baggage, he was clean and he beat up a lot of guys , some surprisingly easily.
