    WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME! 🎣🌊🐟 & L👀KY L👀KY L👀KY!
GOD blesses us greatly here in Alaska & provides for all of our needs, especially sporting for food. One very exciting sport that GOD has made available here in Alaska is Dip netting. It is a unique & exhilarating experience, available exclusively to Alaska residents. Imagine wading into a river with a large net, scooping out an entire year’s supply of fish! It’s a chance to stock our freezers w/one of
the planet’s most delicious & nutritious whole foods.
    YUMMY!😋
This beautiful King Salmon is one of Rev Mel's big catches of the season from Chitina. Swinging in
the video clip is to show the actual size next to the human body. Talking about good eating, we'll
share all about it in upcoming weeks being that the salmon season is open & running.
Dipnetting involves using a large-diameter net to scoop fish directly from the river. Whether you’re
standing on the shore or in a boat, the method remains similar across different fisheries. The AK
Board of Fisheries oversees the state’s fisheries, balancing conservation with user demands. In 1996, they amended the Cook Inlet Personal Use Salmon Management Plan, allowing AK residents to harvest sockeye salmon (and a limited number of king salmon) by dipnet in specific areas of the
Kenai River. Dipnetting on the Copper River began even earlier, in 1989.
DIPNETTERS HAVE ACCESS TO SEVERAL SPECIES:
HOOLIGAN: Also known as eulachon, candlefish, and smelt, hooligan are the first fish of the
season targeted by dipnetters. The Twentymile River and the Susitna River are popular spots for
    catching hooligan.
KING (CHINOOK) SALMON: While dipnetters primarily target SOCKEYE SALMON, they may incidentally catch king salmon. In some fisheries, dipnetters are allowed to retain one or more kings caught by dipnet. However, in areas where king salmon retention isn’t allowed, the fish must remain
    in the water before release.
WHERE DO THE DIPNETTERS GO TO DIPNET FOR SALMON:
FISH CREEK: Species: Red salmon, pink salmon. Fish Creek is accessible off of the Knik-Goose Bay Road out of Wasilla. This fishery is open only in years of abundance, & because it is close to
Anchorage & the Valley, it's a very popular fishery.
COPPER RIVER: located in the beautiful little town of Chitina, Alaska has species: Red salmon, king
salmon, silver salmon. The fishery is completely unique in many respects. The Copper River is known for its silty turbid water & Copper River Red Salmon. The season starts in June & run on into
September, making the Copper River the longest running dipnet fishery in the state.
KENAI RIVER: One of the most popular dipnetting locations in Alaska, especially known for its
salmon runs. The hooligan run doesn't get as much attention as Twentymile; however the red salmon run is very popular, with very large crowds of people on both the north and south beaches,
up at the Warren Ames bridge, while boat-based dipnetters clog the lower river.
KASILOF RIVER: Another favored spot, offering opportunities for dipnetting, particularly for sockeye
salmon. Amenities are few, but there are places to camp & the lower river has a boat ramp.
Alaska residents grab their net, head to the rivers, & embrace the adventure of dip netting where
the thrill of the catch meets the beauty of the wild. In God's Love & Appreciation,
    🎣🌊🐟 THANKS AGAIN & HAVE A NICE DAY"🎣🌊🐟
