Deep Cleaning DIRTY WHEELS | Satisfying Car Detailing

  • Today, we're deep cleaning the wheels of this 2008 Honda. Using wheel cleaners, iron remover, and degreasers, we managed to remove most of the dirt and gunk. The wheels were not in perfect condition and there are some spots that are fading and need to be refinished, but overall we're very happy with the results.

      Flat off the wheel hub mount areas and the cars hubs with a bit of fine grit paper. Clean off and smear on a thin coat of copper grease. 🙂👍 Extra Pro.
      A lot of the corrosion on wheels, wheel hubs, brake callipers is from wheel cleaning chemical residues. Too much caustic chemicals. Bilt Hamber Surfex HD degreaser APC has good anti corrosion inhibitors. Great product for all automotive areas. 🙂👍

    Tip: for a more effective action of products my advice is to use first a degreaser, then the iron remover and possibly a tar remover last

    Tip: do an initial rinse of the wheels to get off the loose dirt and grime before hitting it with the iron remover. Iron remover could've taken off anything underneath the grime.

      Maybe for your situation, but not for every situation. Mine were 2 to 3x worse than these wheels, and I've washed them a dozen times with various chemicals, lots of brush agitation, and have yet to find the "magic bullet". Pretty sure, that once the iron/brake dust has been allowed to remain on the wheels long enough, there is no bringing them back without refinishing the wheel.

  • @pizzamagee6220
    @pizzamagee6220 Před 2 lety +6

    I do have to say its nice to see someone do this to wheels that are extremely dirty and not some wheels that get washed every week. I do agree with another comment that a hosing or pressure washing could have been done before the iron remover I don't think its a big deal.

    So I had an issue where a shop used an imperial socket to remove my metric lug nut.... totally pooching the edges of the nut. Took it to a different shop to get this F up fixed. This entailed drilling off the head of the nut until the wheel could come off, then remove the stud from my hub. In the process, a LOT of oil was used and it stained my polished Audi RS6 Fat Five rim. I've tried a lot of cleaners and degreasers and nothing seems to work. I'm looking to try oven cleaner as a last resort. Any other suggestions to bring the shine back to this polished rim?
