That revolving ashtray was too cool but that guy’s wife had the last word on everything.
I loved that ash tray!
A tough economy during that period. Smack in the middle of the depression.
The old saying that tough times don't last, but tough people do.
Thanks Ken!
1935 was a very tough year. Many businesses closed their doors. The Dust Bowl was in full swing. Yet as you mentioned, the tough survived it.
The 1935 Documentary was great !
Thanks 💯
My pleasure! Thanks for commenting and for watching!
This was the final model year (1935) that Ford had wire wheels and external horns. All new Ford cars were now exclusively V-8 powered with the 4-Cylinder models discontinued. With 820,000 units during the 1935 model year, Ford also substantially outsold Chevrolet for the final year until 1957 (very close in sales). As was typical of all manufacturers, the bodies of the new Fords were now lower, wider, and moved forward on the chassis with the same 112-inch wheelbase. Despite Plymouth's use of all-steel construction, hydraulic brakes, and independent front suspension, sales of the new Ford rose as the worst years (1932/1933) of the Great Depression were now over. The 1936 Ford would see minor updates with the same basic body but sales still slumped.
Some cool facts! Thanks for sharing 👍
There was no 4cyl 35 Ford, the last Model B was a 34.
Note Edsel showing his Father Henry the "new " Ford. Transverse leaf springs mechanical brakes & all that good stuff-but at least it could be had with a V-8. That overheated.
Thanks for watching!
The first 10 horsepower Ford in the UK for 1935 was the Model C/CX. Designed in Detroit it was styled like a miniaturised V8 but had an 1172 cc 4 cylinder engine. In its day, the Model C/CX was the fastest in its category and its engine was used for decades in all kinds of applications.
That's some pretty cool history!
The larger American Ford was available in the U.K. at that time... where it was considered a large (but not posh) automobile.
I’d sure like to walk outside and see a brand new ‘35 Ford V/8 sitting in my driveway.
Me too!
Where is your driveway???😮
@@user-rz6mg7ts7r the car showed up in my driveway this morning. I won't tell you 'cause you're gonna come by and take that cool swivel ashtray with the Chesterfields in it!
7:25 My dad (b. 1930) often used the term "parking your carcass" ... I wonder if he got it from _THIS_ old commercial?
My dad said that too and I still use that phrase today!
“The safety of steel from pedal to wheel” -Henry Ford, age 73 (1937)
Nice quote!
Bonnie and Clyde liked it!
They sure did! Maybe even too much!
@@kensmithgallery4432 Yeah well, Barrow did write Ford, saying the V8 was peppy, and his favorite vehicle to boost. Maybe if he had lived long enough to commandeer a '35 model, who knows what praise would have been forthcoming? Just the same, I bet Mr. Ford was irked by having a desperado give his product a left handed endorsement. Imagine the irony, if you can... Clyde Barrow making a promotional film espousing the merits of a 1935 Ford!
The new Ford V8 didnt survive the torture of the three stooges...HA ..HA...And it looked in the episode like a brand new V8 coupe too !!!
Oh no!
Liked the guy calling his wife a backseat driver. Classic.
It was a bit surprising!
I want a '35 three window coupe.
It's definitely a beautiful car!
I just put in a comment about the Three stooges destroying one in their Fireman episode !
He said the V8 had the economy of a 4. Well, not in fuel economy. Those flatheads were strong smooth motors, but fuel efficient they were not.
My Model A 4 cylinder isn't fuel efficient either.
I never understood why Ford put insert bearings on the rods but left poured babbitt in the mains up too late 1936 LB motors.. Had a few flatmotors and they weren't very good....Nothing but trouble...
One of those unsolved mysteries for sure!
I'll take a coupe please!
Me too!
Did a solid front axle ever need wheel alignment?
Generally, it was just a toe adjustment.
"These are not merely claims; we know these statements to be true." Unlike the unfortunate misstatements of previous model years.
Thanks for watching!
What happened to Ford in recent years is a tragedy. They can’t seem to build a reliable car anymore. Same thing with Chevy and Dodge.
I understand how you feel 😌
I like mine
EPA
I'd love to see Ford try these tests with anything built the past 2 decades. Would be plastic pieces everywhere, along with broken springs, blown struts/shocks, and maybe some dislocated ball joints ... not to mention all the squeaks and rattles in the interior afterward.😂
Thanks for commenting and for watching!
Ford had teach everybody how to nuild a v8
He sure seemed that way.
Where did FORD QUALITY GO? Theynwontevenlastv150,000 miles now.
Thanks for watching!
Tell that to my 2005 Escape with 324,000 on it. Still going strong.
They Don't Need All The Models, And The Government Stuck There Nose in To Far. All They Need Is One Small, Medium And One Large., Also Medium Trim and One High End Packages 😊
That is a great talking point! Thanks for commenting and for watching!
