    I'm fucking tired of the refs in our league constantly fucking everything up. MLS, what the fuck are you doing to fix this? Do something, anything. Get all of the refs through a workshop system or something. Up their training. Test them on calls on a frequent basis. Come on, fucking anything. This needs to change.

      +Ron Swanson I've been saying it for years on the MLS site, they need to hold officials accountable for their play. When players commit egregious errors they are often suspended beyond the red card and or fined. Why are the officials not fined and or suspended for their offenses, especially ones that directly change the outcome of games (NER vs TFC). If they are not willing to hold their officials accountable they nothing will ever improve.

    • @TheOnicov
      @TheOnicov Před 8 lety

      +Paul Miller Referees are held accountable for their calls, they get assessed every game they referee. Their jobs are on the line each game they officiate and it is based on their performances. Obviously, there are going to be human errors, referees are not robots, not every single call is going to be 100% correct. The referees in MLS meet every two weeks and review clips, train etc. Also, they train everyday by themselves to be in the best physical shape. Back to your point, if a referee makes an obvious mistake etc. they are suspended... they don't receive assignments for a week for example

    The one thing I agree with Bruce arena is his stance on referee performance. He has said is that he believes that refs should be punished for poor refereeing just like players and coaches get punished for doing their jobs poorly. I know I already have a conflict of interest as a Sounders fan, but their game against Vancouver could have been much different if it hadn't been for one bullshit pk call, and one questionable pk call. Also, instant replay used to include every MLS game from the week, but I haven't seen either Sounders game from the last two weeks on instant replay.

    FIFa needs to change the laws concerning hand-ball and offsides.
    How it should be:
    Hand-ball- any time a the ball touches a arm of a opponent. Except the shoulder, meaning the arm above your arm pit.
    Offsides- a player that is in a offsides position and DIRECTLY touches the ball.
    The rules are too ambiguous and vague, they need to be simplified and settled for everyone's benefits!

    I'm certainly not defending the tackle or the non-call because with replay it is definitely a foul, however, what was the position of the center official or the closest AR? Making a split second decision on what you ASSUME is a flagrant tackle is not easy. Having coached high school soccer for 12 years I can attest to the difficulty of an official (and coaches) to view every challenge from all angles and make the assumption that it IS or IS NOT a foul or card.

  • @thedevonator1
    @thedevonator1 Před 8 lety

    they can't call red cards when they should, and they call red cards on tackles that aren't red card worthy. De Jong should get banned!!! That tackle was MUCH worse than the two red cards against 1. Dawkins for SJ against LA, and 2. Vancouver red card against Galaxy! Get rid of these guys, especially that ref named Ismail, I saw him ref a couple matches and was horrible literally every time. Also I like that rule update on that Union FK call. Didn't know that! What else should be a penalty was a tackle from behind by Michael Bradley in the box, causing the opposition to go down. Other than that, good job Brian :)

      +Devean Atkinson this is be just because he has a history for 1. in the challenge he didn't even run into the guy the guy ran into him. he didn't stomp on him or extend his leg. the guy was unlucky. it wasn't keano vs Alf-Inge Håland. not even close. fact is USA soccer is soft. there no hunger like you see else where. this was harsh even to be given a yellow for. van damns challenge was more aggressive and two footed. De jong foot is already in placeand its more the fact that the ball rollls and the momentum shifts so fast. its physics. over intent. pretty soon we will be playing patty cake. but that's cool is soccer moms are gonna run the league. but its a contact sport . people get hurt careers end it happens. gotta get over that though when your a holding mid. even to switch it up and say someone goes for a diving header and get hurt because they put themselves in a position to be hurt. but truth be told they put themselves in a position to when because they have that desire. that's the difference between qualifying from concacaf and not. its the psychology of the game to. beating your opponent before the game because they see your name and know its jot gonna be a walk in the park. this guy was just unlucky.

    • @blueninja3852
      @blueninja3852 Před 8 lety +1

      +Devean Atkinson I don't see intent. He positions his body to cover and protect the ball. He places his foot with his weight in position to take control of the ball and remove Nagbe's dribbling space. Nagbe tried to maneuver to the left but places his leading foot into the path of De Jong's leading step. De jong was already making that step/tackle when Nagbe tries to dribble out of his way. Cleats were not even up. It was a yellow. Nagbe is quick; if he is slower, he trips over De Jong's foot. He could have tried going to De Jong's right and possibly shielded the ball, but he knew the other defender was in that vicinity. Had De Jong gone in with a slide tackle and catches him in that spot cleats up, it is definitely a red. Now Van Damme's foul......oh man that was a harsher foul in my opinion. He definitely could have broken an ankle or foot if he misses the ball. Hard fouls that the ref should have controlled. Both teams were giving hard tackles on each other once the game began. It is football. Sadly, I feel the media and overall sense of pleasing the masses will call for further action. 1-2 match ban should suffice (if any), anything past 2 games is unnecessary.
