de Jong is one of the dirtiest players in the history of the sport. These challenges are ridiculous. He should see a long suspension for this.
He is a quality player
Potentially career ending tackle. Could have been a repeat of Cisse, and his shin spanning in half.
He won the ball
Absolute red. The dude himself was wailing at the ref for a red card for a much cleaner, much lighter tackle only a week ago. This is barbaric.
He won the ball
Im dutch and a big fan of de jong as a player. But this challenge shouldve got him at least a 5 game ban. Horrible challenge
Nee man 😂
He's literally know for these tackles..
Definitely a red card from one the dirtiest players in the game.
Disgustin tackle by De jong.
The referee in mls are so bad, the red card calls this year are harsher than before and they still can't get them consistently like the De Jong tackle.
Major League Soccer, minor league refs
👏👌
+Scott McNey Believe it or not, the refs in USL are often worse than the ones in MLS
+Scott McNey We need instant replay machines to be added to MLS, like they are in NFL and NBA
+Andrew Bremser No, we don't.
+Andrew Bremser No, we need competent refs.
I'm fucking tired of the refs in our league constantly fucking everything up. MLS, what the fuck are you doing to fix this? Do something, anything. Get all of the refs through a workshop system or something. Up their training. Test them on calls on a frequent basis. Come on, fucking anything. This needs to change.
+Ron Swanson I know your favorite word... You said it 4 times
Rylandinhobmx yep
+Ron Swanson I've been saying it for years on the MLS site, they need to hold officials accountable for their play. When players commit egregious errors they are often suspended beyond the red card and or fined. Why are the officials not fined and or suspended for their offenses, especially ones that directly change the outcome of games (NER vs TFC). If they are not willing to hold their officials accountable they nothing will ever improve.
+Paul Miller Referees are held accountable for their calls, they get assessed every game they referee. Their jobs are on the line each game they officiate and it is based on their performances. Obviously, there are going to be human errors, referees are not robots, not every single call is going to be 100% correct. The referees in MLS meet every two weeks and review clips, train etc. Also, they train everyday by themselves to be in the best physical shape. Back to your point, if a referee makes an obvious mistake etc. they are suspended... they don't receive assignments for a week for example
+Ron Swanson
How about you becoming a referee and see for yourself how hard this is?
nigel de jong is a great midfielder, one of the best the Netherlands has ever seen. Great player
lol no
He do the job🤷♂️
the fact that the title ASKS if it was worthy of a straight red shows that theres something wrong...
De jong shouldn't be allowed to play football... man is dangerous.
1:00 does that even need any explaining?
Nigel De Jong is a disgrace to this league. So are our refs this year. Just terrible. Another career ruined by De Jong just like what he did to Holden and Alonso.
Sssshhush, do not jinx the career of Nagbe
+freddd54322 dude I don't. that guy has been awesome for the USMNT. :/
mls is just a disgrace period
The most inconsistent refs in the world.
The one thing I agree with Bruce arena is his stance on referee performance. He has said is that he believes that refs should be punished for poor refereeing just like players and coaches get punished for doing their jobs poorly. I know I already have a conflict of interest as a Sounders fan, but their game against Vancouver could have been much different if it hadn't been for one bullshit pk call, and one questionable pk call. Also, instant replay used to include every MLS game from the week, but I haven't seen either Sounders game from the last two weeks on instant replay.
i remember when de jong kung fu xabi alonso's chest and get yellow card
this guy has his luck stat maxed
MLS is growing and getting popular but how can it become a top league with weak refs
+Michael Webb tbf every league has a fair amount of bad refs
+Devean Atkinson Not as close to the amount of the amount of refs here though!
+Michael Webb we need an instant replay for refs to look at
bad refs is everywhere. we also get tired of refs favouring elite teams in malaysian super league.
Nigel de Jong is a sociopath and should have had assault charges brought against him for multiple tackles throughout his career.
What about Bradley tackling(like NFL tackle) on Davies
FIFa needs to change the laws concerning hand-ball and offsides.
How it should be:
Hand-ball- any time a the ball touches a arm of a opponent. Except the shoulder, meaning the arm above your arm pit.
Offsides- a player that is in a offsides position and DIRECTLY touches the ball.
The rules are too ambiguous and vague, they need to be simplified and settled for everyone's benefits!
They should have shown the protogrammetrics on the play with Femi. It shows that Femi touched the ball before the ball even touched the line. Revs get screwed again.
Bryan should be a reff
I'm certainly not defending the tackle or the non-call because with replay it is definitely a foul, however, what was the position of the center official or the closest AR? Making a split second decision on what you ASSUME is a flagrant tackle is not easy. Having coached high school soccer for 12 years I can attest to the difficulty of an official (and coaches) to view every challenge from all angles and make the assumption that it IS or IS NOT a foul or card.
they can't call red cards when they should, and they call red cards on tackles that aren't red card worthy. De Jong should get banned!!! That tackle was MUCH worse than the two red cards against 1. Dawkins for SJ against LA, and 2. Vancouver red card against Galaxy! Get rid of these guys, especially that ref named Ismail, I saw him ref a couple matches and was horrible literally every time. Also I like that rule update on that Union FK call. Didn't know that! What else should be a penalty was a tackle from behind by Michael Bradley in the box, causing the opposition to go down. Other than that, good job Brian :)
The twiiter account that Borg often cited for offside calls has done analysis proving that the revs goal was in.
Also it doesn't seem like this guy has a firm grasp of the laws of the game.
I'm a TFC fan and I believe the revs got screwed, however, we got screwed three games in a row and deserved something from the match
+Greenmarch1234 Agreed we need DP for referees
+Alexander Moschella It's so difficult to tell. To me it looked out on live play and I can see how the ref thought it could have been out. Hard to blame him for something so difficult to call IMO. Unless the ball is one the ground its so hard to see if its over
+Menessy27 the assistant was not in position to make the call in the first place
Yes. Nothing else needs to be said
He could have ended Nagbe season right there..
Season? Couldve been career
+Alex Cayer He did the same thing to Stu Holden of USMNT, which ended his career
Holden was only out for six weeks after De Jong's challenge. At least check your facts first.
Holden was never the same after that tackle. It did end his career.
Nothing about Yuras goal that was Disallowed for RSL?
I'm a Galaxy fan and I think it could have been called a red doesn't necessarily mean it should have tho. The refs have been pretty abysmal this year.
nothing about the Movsysian goal getting called back?! REALLY?! I have to agree, the league has out grown these terrible refs.
Don't see how it's that bad. slow motion shows not that much of blunt contact
Are you really not going to show the Houston Seattle game?
+Gabriel G What about it?
+Gabriel G They never showed anything of the FCD vs SJQ match, but that was because there was nothing to talk about. I thought the same for the Houston match
Everybody is acting crazy about de Jong's foul like it was murder. Yes, it was, and I am not in any way defending de Jong, but he's done this before, he's broken people's legs and meant to do it, absolute nightmare to come up against, one of the crooks of the game.
it is not offside. they are moving away from the ball. they dont intend to have it
So Felipe touches rowes heel and gets a red card but de Jong stomps on nagbes leg and doesn't get a red?
De Jong is to beast for red cards like the world cup final and now this
I love the LA Galaxy, but that was a red for De-Jong.
Everytime I hope for Simon Borg but... Well 😔
Surprising that you skipped over Lade getting kicked in the throat. Was terrible in person. Thought it was a clear PK
What about the tackle on Connor Lade
Union players were 1. Clearly onside as the kick was taken, because they all moved away from the goal. 2. no Union player made an attempt to play the ball. 3. The play was known to the AR prior to the kick as it had been cleared as a tactic by Jim Curtin. And 4. the kick was in the upper 90° The keeper had no play. Clearly you have misinterpreted the law.
Orlando City got screwed so much last year. Guess it's happening again?
That Bunbury play was so soft. He's already going downwards before he gets touched, and when he does get touched he stays up for a second and then flops straight forward. It looked so unnatural, clearly he was looking for a pen
Why on earth is De Jong still playing Association Football? Disgraceful thug. Should be banned for life at this point. He's got a long streak of deliberately injuring opponents, and he's not going to stop while he continues to only get shown yellow cards.
On a side note, this makes red card number five (including the retroactive ones) against the Timbers in only four games. PRO needs to get their act together.
he has never deliberately injured anyone. that accusation is disgusting and wrong. he is just not a bit slow and shit. but he is a really nice guy and would NEVER EVER hurt someone
thats terrible calls man, the MLS should spend some more money on referee wages instead of paying for old englishmens new lambos
Wow....
Simon Boooooorg Baaaack
Mark Greiger, probably the worst referee in the Western Hemisphere, something controversial in every game he refs. Chicago should have gotten the W.
The best part about these videos? It shows why the MLS has quite possibly the worst Referees in the world
Nigel de Jong has a long history of being a dirty player. Should have been a red card maybe refs sight line was obscured. Nigel de Jong should be given a minimum of 8 games by the disciplinary committee for that play. That was not accidental and just should not be tolerated in the sport.
De Jong needs to get a three match suspension..how can embellishment get one game suspension and this one wasn't even a red
De Jong should rather go for wrestling not football before he kills someone on the pitch
Man these refs suck
De Jong, the guy who broke Ben Arfa leg!! He should have been suspended!!
idc about this shit when r they going to post saves of the week
how can the title be as a question? and de Jong, as a stupid guy he is, claims he touched the ball...
I can't stand the refs and de jong, I still remember labas red, the ref was gonna give him a yellow than de jong talked the ref into a red, but he does this and gets a yellow. Especially with the history he has its so stupid, but ya know what's more stupid? MLS refs
Trash refs in this league
*all leagues
+Colin Rush I agree, every year the same thing is said about every league. The El Clasico ref was horrendous and so many more are.
Grande NDJ
Absolute shit refereeing. Looking in the past weeks at what the refs deemed to be red cards, how the hell is an ankle stomp not a red? Hopefully the disciplinary committee will give De Jong a solid ban.
haha major league... explaining the offside rule and shit. I'm surprised you haven't added multi ball yet or ad breaks or some shit
What
not a red card... not at all
+Tristan Long wtf
+Devean Atkinson this is be just because he has a history for 1. in the challenge he didn't even run into the guy the guy ran into him. he didn't stomp on him or extend his leg. the guy was unlucky. it wasn't keano vs Alf-Inge Håland. not even close. fact is USA soccer is soft. there no hunger like you see else where. this was harsh even to be given a yellow for. van damns challenge was more aggressive and two footed. De jong foot is already in placeand its more the fact that the ball rollls and the momentum shifts so fast. its physics. over intent. pretty soon we will be playing patty cake. but that's cool is soccer moms are gonna run the league. but its a contact sport . people get hurt careers end it happens. gotta get over that though when your a holding mid. even to switch it up and say someone goes for a diving header and get hurt because they put themselves in a position to be hurt. but truth be told they put themselves in a position to when because they have that desire. that's the difference between qualifying from concacaf and not. its the psychology of the game to. beating your opponent before the game because they see your name and know its jot gonna be a walk in the park. this guy was just unlucky.
Tristan Long wtf
+Devean Atkinson I don't see intent. He positions his body to cover and protect the ball. He places his foot with his weight in position to take control of the ball and remove Nagbe's dribbling space. Nagbe tried to maneuver to the left but places his leading foot into the path of De Jong's leading step. De jong was already making that step/tackle when Nagbe tries to dribble out of his way. Cleats were not even up. It was a yellow. Nagbe is quick; if he is slower, he trips over De Jong's foot. He could have tried going to De Jong's right and possibly shielded the ball, but he knew the other defender was in that vicinity. Had De Jong gone in with a slide tackle and catches him in that spot cleats up, it is definitely a red. Now Van Damme's foul......oh man that was a harsher foul in my opinion. He definitely could have broken an ankle or foot if he misses the ball. Hard fouls that the ref should have controlled. Both teams were giving hard tackles on each other once the game began. It is football. Sadly, I feel the media and overall sense of pleasing the masses will call for further action. 1-2 match ban should suffice (if any), anything past 2 games is unnecessary.
+Blue Ninja thank you , the media did blow this up. he's not a dirty player but the xavi challenge has followed him in reputation
arbitros vale verga.....
