  • We have worked on it for years, and now the moment is finally here: all Dutch train stations have been made accessible for blind and visually impaired passengers by means of clear, predictable route guidance. In total, 90 kilometres of tactile floor ‘guidelines’ have been installed. The Eye Association Netherlands (Oogvereniging) and ProRail are celebrating this milestone on Tuesday, 31 October in Amersfoort.

    I’ve got one question:
Why the F*CK is this not included at United States train stations. It’s almost as if the Americans with disabilities act does not even matter. Yes, you get tactile strips at the end of the platforms, but come on! America, you can do better. I know you can. Prioritize safety over costs, not the other way around. If the UK can do it as well as other countries, you can do it too. Don’t call this the land of equal opportunity when you’re lacking in multiple places.
