Currently got a mango festering in a jar of vodka. An orphan fruit found lurking in a Lidl 'best before yesterday' box. Nice to see I'm not the only one with daft ideas that actually work.
That's next years Christmas brew sorted, I've made the Blackberry port for this year with foraged berries, I can't wait to try it, is it Christmas yet!?
Looks incredible! Definitely adding this to my to do list. Blackcurrants are going to be one of the first things I plant when I move. I think I'll need quite a few plants as I'm planning many things with them! You could do a sparkling wine recipe video so drinks like this are even closer to home grown. Either from grapes or other fruits. So many flavour possibilities. That brandy bottle is gorgeous!
Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot brought me here. Creme de Cassis was Poirot's drink of choice and I just had to search for it. Happy I found your channel.
I found cassis plants growing nearby in the wild, and this seems like the perfect drink to make with them. Thank you for the clear instructions and your enthusiasm, it was a pleasure to watch! ✨
Great vid, gonna have to make some of this with bilberries instead as I picked most of the north yorkshire moors lol but will definately make some of this cassis next year, thanks for the vid.
Great video, thanks Hugh / Fiona. I've made other liqueurs in the past using this method, including creme de mure and creme de framboises but have yet to try cassis. It's certainly a really simple but effective method. My next project is to make some Pineau, a delicious sweet wine using eau de vie and grape juice which is a famous local tipple here in SW France. As you can imagine, grapes are not in short supply here so I'm trying to work with the plentiful local ingredients.
Hi, we are Korean reality TV program “Europe Outside Your Tent : Norway”. We are now making the episode of Norway Black Currant and it will be really great if you could allow us to use this video in our show! We will be looking forward to ur response! Thanks!

Oooh mango vodka.....😁
Doing the same thing with blueberries. Curious to the result.
Cassis is also a great addition to a raspberry sauce for Duck.
What a great idea!
Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant ! I already have your Parsnip wine recipe fermenting , this is also one one that I'll try. Thanks for sharing
Do let us know if you enjoy the parsnip wine? It's a favourite of ours

Thanks Monique. We have 6 large blackcurrant bushes and I would like more
@@EnglishCountryLife it’s so yummy! I’ve never had a fresh one. Only juice or blackcurrant flavoured things. Can’t wait to try them fresh!
@@moniquem783 Try a blackcurrant crumble - it's amazing 😍
@@EnglishCountryLife ooooooooh! Now you're talking! Even apple and blackcurrant!
Get Big Ben Blackcurrants
Safely disposing of those leftover blackcurrants is a hard job, but someone has to do it!
Might have to make some of this next year.
It's a lovely treat on ice cream although you don't need many. I'm tempted to put some in chocolate 🍫

I love Peter Ustinov - imagine having dinner with him!
Last year's currants still in the freezer and this year's ripening now...creme de cassis it is!
Perfect drink for this nice weather 🥂
Crème de cassis and Sloe Gin are two of my favourite homemade liquers.
Good choices - I'm surprised crème de cassis isn't more popular?

Oh that's fantastic h I wish we had wild plants
Thank you so much. My mom used to start off her fabulous meals with a crème de cassis aperitif. It’s been many years and I’ll be serving it today
Outstanding - slainte!
Giving this one a go for sure! Thanks Hugh.
So worth it Chris 😋

I bet bilberries would be great - would love to try that!
@@EnglishCountryLife Gonna give it a go, will be good for gifting ( and drinking ).
@@Andrew.Croft. Let me know how it tastes? 😋
@@EnglishCountryLife Will do :)
Can I use frozen berries for this recipe please?
Yes, absolutely if anything they will improve the recipe because freezing bursts the skins

👌🏽
How about a fluffy duck
😁
Can you share a recipe for blackcurrant wine?
If you use this recipe but substitute blackcurrants for the blackberries the results are amazing

Do you have to take the little brown sticks off the berry?.
@@TammyLundbergLundberg Thankfully, no
